25.01.2022 One of the best pieces of badminton advice I have ever received: Never give up! ALWAYS try to hit the shuttle!
25.01.2022 Hows this for a badminton benefit? In our body, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) are bad cholesterols and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) is the only good cholesterol. Regular badminton exercises help reduce the levels of bad cholesterol and increase the levels of good cholesterol in the body!

23.01.2022 Did You Know? Badminton was originally called battledore and shuttlecock. With Game of Thrones characters being just about the only people now able to pull off that sort of language, we can see why it changed to badminton

18.01.2022 During lockdown we've caught up with a few badminton clubs to see how they're preparing to reopen and what challenges they've faced over the last few months...Keep your eyes out for our Back On Court series! #badmintoniscomingback #badminton #sport #relaunch #grassroots
18.01.2022 The Badminton Drop Shop Trajectory: Looping close to the net Played from: Back court Purpose: Attacking Shot... It is used when the shuttle is heading towards you in the back court. As an attempt to return this stroke, the player must hit downward towards the opponents fore-court, aiming for it to go just over the net. The closer the shuttle drops to the net, the harder it is to return. This shot is used when the opponent is in the back court, expecting a clear shot or a drive.
17.01.2022 Daylight Savings ends this weekend! Dont forget to turn your clocks back :)
17.01.2022 Wrist strain A common Badminton injury you may experience is in the wrist and is likely caused by repetitive strain. Can you prevent a wrist strain? You can do some wrist exercises as part of your warm-up that helps to loosen the muscles and increase the blood flow.... Treatment Adding a cold pack to the area should help ease and reduce inflammation. No matter how safety conscious you are, there are still risks of getting the above badminton injuries. You should always consult a doctor or a physician. If the injury is not that severe, taking adequate rest would be your best option.
16.01.2022 Have you tried Parkrun yet? 16.01.2022 Top players stay relaxed and win points at critical times in the match. You want clothing that dries sweat quickly and lowers your body temperature to keep you comfortable. This allows you to stay cool under pressure and concentrate on winning. https://badmintonclick.com.au/collections/badminton-apparel
15.01.2022 Patellar Tendonitis (Jumpers Knee) A chronic overuse injury due to repetitive jumping on hard surface with poor footwear. There will be pain in the front of the knee( just below the patella). It may seem resolved initially after warming up but itll be aggravated by a sudden increase in intensity and frequency of jumping. It may result in tendon rupture and may involve other structures: example plica, femoral condyle. No matter how safety conscious you are, there is always the risk of getting the above badminton injury/ies. You should always consult a doctor or a physician. If the injury is not that severe, taking adequate rest would be your best option.

13.01.2022 Badminton Injuries ~ Back strain Badminton requires speed, mobility that includes jumping and hitting powerful overhead smash shots. Most badminton injuries can come from the repetitive nature of hitting shots. You may also suffer jarring of the back when landing awkwardly. Neck pain and general stiffness in the lower back are both symptoms of back pain.... Can you prevent a back strain? Keeping yourself in shape and ensuring a thorough warm-up and warm down are adhered to can reduce the chance of many injuries occurring. Treatment Back pain can come on out of the blue or from a fall but unfortunately rest is still the best cure. It normally takes a few weeks to recover. If you dont feel any improvement after a couple of weeks its probably best to check with your doctor. Keeping active is better than sitting in one position as you can keep the blood moving around the muscles. You can apply either hot or cold compression packs that may give some short-term pain relief.

09.01.2022 The Badminton Smash Trajectory: Close to the net Played from: Back court/Mid-court Purpose: To provide less time for the opponent... Most lethal shot in badminton. It can be defined as a drive angled downwards. It can be used when the shuttle is high in the air and can be angled downwards.

09.01.2022 The Psychological Benefits of Playing Badminton Because badminton promotes physical fitness, it helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Exercise increases endorphins, which are the brains feel-good neurotransmitters, and has also been found to improve mood and sleep. Badminton is also likely to put you in a good mood because its a social activity. Youll need at least one opponent, but you can also play with a teammate and two other opponents. The social interactions of a game, combined with feel-good endorphins, will result in positive feelings after a session on the court :)

06.01.2022 The Badminton Drive Trajectory: Flat, towards the body Played from: Mid-court Purpose: Defensive Shot... The drive is a flat shot hit directly and slightly over the net. It is a very powerful and quick counter attacking shot. Your racket should be held with the head facing straight ahead. It can sometimes be strategic to aim the shot at your opponent who will be unable to react or shift his body in time as their natural reaction will be to duck/avoid the shot.
06.01.2022 Please make sure you are wearing correct footwear when you play. Not only will properly fitted shoes support your foot and ankles against injury, it is also a requirement by the Association. The following link is a guide only, and we trust that you will make the best choice for the health and safety of your feet https://www.tension24.com.au/shoes/badminton-shoes.html

04.01.2022 Badminton emphasises coordination, flexibility, correct footwork and precise movements. Even if your opponent delivers a powerful smash, if your footwork and movements are correct, you can use softness to overcome strength and make a deft return. In addition, because badminton is an indoor sport that is played across a net there is no need for physical contact with your opponent(s), nor will you be burned brown by the sun or have the wind mess up your hair and leave sand in it :)
03.01.2022 NOTE: No official word from the Mirboo North Badminton Association regarding a start back date, but when more is known, youll read about it here!
