24.01.2022 It is more or less a year since the Liberation Trail fire impact the Nana Glen community and threatened to spread down to the coast. Local, Lachlan Payne, produced 'Embark' explore some of the residences' experiences of that time.

23.01.2022 Exciting times ahead for Solitary Rural Fire Brigade!!! Today Wal, Lyle and Michael met with Matt from Transport for NSW at the site of the new Solitary Station. Major Earth works have begun at the site. The current Station is being resumed for the Coffs Harbour Bypass Project and will be demolished once the Brigade move here. After a long consultation and planning phase it’s great to see work happening. TfNSW, Coffs Council and RFS have worked hard to get to this stage. The new station will be bigger and better than the current station and is on a block that will allow great connectivity onto the new highway when it’s built.

23.01.2022 This International Volunteer Day we thank each and every one of our Volunteers from the Brigades across the Mid North Coast Team area. They give up their own time to protect communities of the area and beyond. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers and also their families for allowing them to do what they do, especially over the coming Christmas/New Year period. #InternationalVolunteerDay. members of Fernmount Brigade.

11.01.2022 ARE YOU BUSHFIRE PREPARED OR UNCERTAIN WHAT TO DO? Take a look at new videos created by local RFS brigade personnel from Nana Glen, Bonville, Repton and Belling...en to help you & your family stay safe. Video 1 - https://player.vimeo.com/video/487942001 Video 2 - https://player.vimeo.com/video/487940571 Last summer’s bushfires destroyed 2,476 homes across New South Wales and has highlighted the importance of having a bush fire plan and being prepared. The Bush Fire Danger Period has begun for the Mid North Coast and the Rural Fire Service stress the importance of taking five minutes to talk with your family, complete a bushfire survival plan and take steps to get ready for bush fire. Coffs Harbour City Council’s Community Recovery Officer Melinda Brooks said: Many residents who were impacted by last year’s Liberation Trail fire expressed concerns about their lack of understanding about how to prepare their home for a bushfire and what a bushfire plan was. In partnership with Bellingen Shire Council, Resilience NSW and the NSW Rural Fire Service, two ‘Get Ready for Bush Fire’ videos have been made featuring RFS volunteers from the Coffs Harbour and Bellingen local government areas. NSW RFS Superintendent Sean McArdle said all local residents need to be prepared as getting ready for bush fire is as important as ever. Although we have had some welcome rain and the drought is not as widespread coming into this season, there is potential for grass fires in particular, and we all need to be well prepared, he said. NSW RFS members have been busy preparing by undertaking hazard reduction burns where possible, maintaining firefighting equipment and undergoing additional training. The Get Ready films are about residents doing their bit to protect their families and properties in the event of a fire. Alison Pattinson, Bellingen Shire Council’s Manager, Community Wellbeing, said that the RFS Mid North Coast Team includes both Coffs and Bellingen and a consistent Get Ready message is important for local preparedness. By using local RFS volunteers we really hope that the community will watch the videos and be better prepared this bush fire season. NSW RFS - Mid North Coast Team - Coffs and Bellingen

09.01.2022 More AGM’s today.... I want to take the time to acknowledge two wonderful Volunteers....... Graham and Margaret Hooper. The Hooper’s moved to Fernmount in 1982 and joined the brigade and have been there ever since, holding various positions over the years. They are both very active community members in a variety of organisations. Today Graham stood down from the role of President and Margaret stood down from the role of Treasurer. The incumbents have very big shoes to fill!! They both were quick to say they aren’t retiring from the brigade, just taking a step back. Below is a picture of Graham and Margaret with Fernmount Captain Graham Martindale
