25.01.2022 October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer awareness month is all about breast awareness, breast cancer, early diagnosis and treatments. It’s important to share this essential information and knowledge as early detection is key. Here at MNCDI we the offer the latest in breast imaging technology. Mammography/Tomosynthesis: also known as 3D mammography is an advanced type of digital mammography providing the most advanced mammogram images for the early d...etection of breast cancer. #3Dmammography has been shown to be beneficial in the detection of small breast cancers that are typically only millimetres in thickness. The advanced technology takes multiple images from different angles producing 3D images. The 3D views are scrolled through by a radiologist who has specialised training in breast imaging and detection. Earlier overseas studies show improvements in the detection of invasive breast cancers, particularly in patients with dense breast tissue. In addition, 3D breast #tomosynthesis allows for better detection of any breast anomalies, improved exam comfort, shorter exam times, reducing unnecessary biopsies and other tests. http://bit.ly/2p9Gjw0 #breastcancer #radiologistonsite #bulkbilled #samedayscans

In comparison, the Earth’s magnetic field is just 0.5 gauss! Biomatrix is an advanced technology which allows us to image much quicker than conventional 3T MRI. 06.01.2022 #SpineMRI Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive test used to diagnose medical conditions. #MRI uses a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed pictures of internal body structures. MRI does not use radiation (x-rays). Detailed MR images allow doctors to examine the body and detect disease. The images can be reviewed on a computer monitor. Our wide bore 3T-MRI is the most sensitive imaging test available for the spine and is used to ...assess or detect: - Spine anatomy and alignment. - Birth defects in the vertebrae or spinal cord. - Trauma injury to the bone, disc, ligament or spinal cord. - Disc and joint disease. Both are frequent causes of severe lower back pain and sciatica (back pain radiating into lower leg). - Compression or inflammation of spinal cord and nerves. - Infection of the vertebrae, discs, spinal cord or its coverings (meninges). - Tumors in the vertebrae, spinal cord, nerves or surrounding soft tissues. Spine MRI is also used to help plan procedures such as decompression of a pinched nerve, spinal fusion, or steroid injections. The steroid injections relieve pain and are usually done using x-ray guidance. Spine MRI detects other possible causes of back pain such as compression fracture, and bone swelling. It is also used to monitor changes in the spine after an operation, such as scarring or infection. Call for your MRI appointment. 05.01.2022 #Osteoporosis involves a gradual loss of calcium and structural changes to your bones, causing them to become thinner and more fragile and likely to break. Osteoporosis is a result of low mineral density in the bone and regular DEXA Scans give your physician a way to track and compare your bone health in what is called a Bone Density Test. Your risk of fractures are affected by age, body weight, family history but also by lifestyle issues such as cigarette smoking and exces...sive alcohol consumption. These factors are all taken into consideration when deciding if a patient needs therapy. A DEXA scan is a safe, fast and painless diagnostic tool that shows your doctor exactly the condition of your bones. This is essential to know exactly what treatment you’ll need and is also necessary to predict your response to your prescribed treatment. 01.01.2022 Today we celebrate International Day of Radiology 2019. This year's theme is about Sports Imaging (Musculoskeletal Radiology), a fast-growing subspecialty of diagnostic radiology that plays an increasingly important part in the assessment and management of patients with a wide variety of injuries. Within this subspecialty, a new discipline has emerged sports imaging. For #IDoR2019, we are highlighting the crucial role of imaging in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of ...sports injuries, and the significance of understanding the anatomy, biomechanics and surgical treatment options. The development of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, in particular over the past 20 years, has resulted in the superior visualisation of tendons, ligaments, and cartilage, giving increased importance to medical imaging in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries, which as much as 70% of people will experience in their lives. Radiologists play an important role in the clinical management of top athletes as well as of people involved in sports at various levels. With new technologies in ultrasound, multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the ability to document subtle findings has been pushed forward enormously. This has enabled the detection of slight stress reactions of the bones, typical patterns of tendinosis, muscle trauma, and early forms of bone marrow oedema. The ability to detect such problems and abnormalities at earlier stages, along with new insights in pathophysiology, has meant that sports imaging has moved further into the new field of prevention. Tendon ruptures, osteoarthritis, and bone fractures, to give just a few examples, can often be avoided by spotting early signs. http://bit.ly/2NnFedE
