07.01.2022 Yoga poses can be a helpful way to reduce tension from pelvic pain, re-frame thoughts and feelings about pain and facilitate gentle activity. Our pelvic health physio, Sarah, has shared three of her favourite positions: -Legs up the wall helps to promote blood flow to the pelvis and gently stretch the back of the legs. You can moderate the intensity by bending the knees to ease the stretch... -Cobra is a great stretch to open up through the abdominals and hip flexors whilst also promoting extension through the upper back. it's a good stretch to ease digestive upset associated with pelvic pain conditions -Child's pose assists in stretching through the low back and sit bones to ease tension through the pelvis. It's also a nice position to focus on slow gentle breathing while working on expanding through the upper back

They help support the pelvic organs and are important for bowel, bladder and sexual function. It's often thought that these muscles need strengthening to improve pelvic floor conditions such as incontinence, pelvic pain or pelvic organ prolapse. ... In many cases, pelvic floor strength is beneficial in reducing symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. But in some cases it may actually worsen the condition. So who needs to strengthen their pelvic floor? The best way to find out what YOU need from your pelvic floor is to speak to a pelvic health physio.
