25.01.2022 Episode #41 - Slurp Sessions with Steve and Kurtis On Spotify! https://open.spotify.com/episode/2KSxTFxlyIoGy6ms1PjDUa... This is, by far, the longest and most unruly podcast we've recorded yet. So much so, that we needed to keep this episode to an AUDIO only version. We talk societal expectations, personal fears of not living to our potential and the legacy we want to leave behind.

23.01.2022 Audio only link: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4xxDNPvZQ2DbdjlX46bNq0 This was actually filmed 2 months ago and we had put it together but there was something deeper that prevented us from posting it. It was delayed due to 10% business stress, 10% emotional stress, 80% being a potato. In all honesty we needed to pause for a second and just really take in the moment, but in saying that, we're back! ... Thanks for waiting for us and supporting us with our website shop and overall just being awesome and sticking around. We really appreciate you.

22.01.2022 Earlier this year before the lockdowns kicked in, we shot this short dance video. Tomorrow we'll be releasing a breakdown on how we filmed this using only the lighting that was available at the location. Here are some frames from the video.... 22.01.2022 R U OK? Given the current Victorian business climate and how many #business owners, including us, can equate the success of their business to their own self-worth. Now more than ever it's important we voice what we're going through - as daunting as the task might seem. This article really hits the nail on the head with the helplessness we've felt recently. As a company, we stayed occupied with projects until the August Stage 4 #Lockdowns and, since then, we've had to take a d...eep look at who we are when we don't have the studio to hide behind. We've come to terms with being human. We're doing our best to plan for the most uncertain of times, but we honestly could not tell you how things are going to turn out after all of this passes. We CAN tell you that: We'll never stop creating We'll never stop dreaming We'll never stop telling stories #ruokday

19.01.2022 Here is a quick time-lapse of a painting session we had with our good friend @eljeraldo from @affinesse and @kurtneilb and his dad installing a new door. Sometimes it feels like we're in a perpetual state of "work in progress" but getting to see each stage of the changes is so satisfying. We can't wait to share more with you as our space gets set up!

18.01.2022 We're locked down, so we're learning new software. Let the struggle begin!

18.01.2022 Back in 2018, we filmed a 3 part music video series with @justaboutdone over 2 days. It was our first ever shoot to use a DIY anamorphic setup using an old Schneider Cinelux adapter on the @panasonicgh5 The shoot felt like a complex puzzle but seeing it all come together was incredibly rewarding.

18.01.2022 While we're back into lockdown and unable to enjoy a Friday night out, we decided to bring the party to you. Check out the livestream we put together featuring Wesley Jin, the Bedroom DJ, as we put our new set and lighting to the test. Stay home and stay safe everyone!... #partyfromhome

17.01.2022 In our "A Look Into Lockdown" series, we take a glimpse into how local businesses are adapting and surviving during these challenging times. In this episode, we visited Boulder Lab, a climbing gym in Ferntree Gully, Victoria. Though currently closed, they remain hopeful and resourceful. This was filmed 2 weeks before Victoria entered stage 4 restrictions, and although we may be faced with uncertain weeks and months ahead, let's work together to #supportlocal.

17.01.2022 Back in December 2016, this shot was done by taping my DSLR onto the ceiling. In the other photos you can see the doubt creeping onto my face as I contemplated my setup everytime I heard the tape tearing. When this was shot, Mind Society was still 1 year young and I had just moved into an older rental property. I feel somewhat fond of this image as it brings back so many memories. This moment was a bit of a turning point as there were many changes that happened to both my per...sonal life and my filmmaking journey. Although we constantly look forward to achieving our dreams, it's great to look back and reminisce about the earlier days. Sometimes you never know what you might uncover. David Shin - @dimenshin

15.01.2022 Sometimes there's a strong motivation and reason behind some of the huge moves we make... and at other times it's just an excuse to eat good takeaway and reflect on a few things together. This episode was just a bit of fun while we ate dinner. Audio only version on Spotify:... https://open.spotify.com/episode/78JXJOSzUjuJoshzMDzdjn See more

12.01.2022 What a year it's been and it still hasn't ended! This was definitely not what most people were expecting from 2020 but... here we are . As lockdowns are easing down here in Melbourne, we're extremely excited to get things rolling again but we also wanted to take this moment to look back on what has happened so far. As we came out of a very tiring but productive 2019, we were eager to change things up. We made plans to travel, developed production ideas and projects that we w...anted to do throughout the year. Like so many others, our plans were ultimately cancelled when the first wave of Covid-19 started to flood the world. As the first lockdowns kicked in, we tried to clamber onto any and every available option we felt like we had pushing us into further exhaustion. Trying to sustain ourselves as well as a business during this time was one of the most challenging endeavours we've had so far. As we reached the half way mark of the year and the first wave died down, we had a small taste of freedom until it was quickly snatched away by a rapidly growing second wave, resulting in even stricter lockdowns. This was when we really started to feel our sanity drifting away and we made the choice to take a big step back and slow down. This was probably the best thing we've done for ourselves all year; taking that space to reflect, learn and to actively not do any work. As we reached the end of what was one of the longest and strictest lockdowns in the world, we felt a collective sense of relief - almost as if Melbourne as a whole had been revitalised. What does this all mean? Honestly, we can't quite articulate it yet but we've come out of this feeling incredibly grateful. We wanted to take this moment to thank everyone who supports us, and has supported us, in our journey. One of the biggest lessons we were reminded of this year was to take care of others and to receive that care as well. It's been a tough year but it's shown us how determined we all are. Let's continue to look after one another. Stay safe everyone!

Here are some of the LUTs in action. https://www.mindsociety.com.au//the-wanderer-nostalgic-lut The Wanderer pack features 15 unique LUTs which are designed to give a nostalgic and filmic look.... We'll be releasing more videos and LUTs soon

10.01.2022 Going back in time to 2018, we filmed a 3 part music video series with @justaboutdone over 2 days. It was one of our most fun shoots where we got to work with an amazing group of musicians and people. Here is a quick snippet where @kurtneilb and our actor @hernandez.florian98 nailed the timing of one of the scenes.

08.01.2022 Full episode: https://youtu.be/Jdn5WJDQgls Lighting Without Any Lighting Gear | Refine the Mind... Whether it's having little to no budget or shooting purely for fun, when we first started filmmaking we often had no lighting equipment and we would rely only on the lighting that was available at the location. In this episode, we broke down one of our videos and how we approached the lighting to achieve the look that we wanted.

07.01.2022 It's an ever evolving process when learning the techniques and training the eyes to achieve the final colours we want in our videos. We've mainly used Premiere for grading but we're going to be making a move to @davinciresolvecolor to see how we can continue to push ourselves. Here is a short reel of some of the grading that we have done over the years. Also we've got to give a big shout out to all of the professional colourists/graders out there who we really look up to. It's not easy!

06.01.2022 Audio Only Version: https://open.spotify.com/episode/6vVEcjRXUBvfPLtxCVr7Oo For the first time since mid-March this year we've been really hit hard by this pandemic, and more emotionally than anything else. We talk about how we're dealing with Stage 4 Restrictions in Victoria and discuss how we haven't being doing ok, and how that's ok.

04.01.2022 Over the years we've been honing our skills in lighting to shape and create our shots. We've used anything and everything such as diffusing our phone torches through our underwear to household lamps, to cheap flood lights under $20 and to eventually being able to rent and own our own proper lights. With that being said, even to this day, when a shot calls for a specific look or purpose, you bet that we'll use any means to get it.... Lighting is everything and there's still so much to unravel.

04.01.2022 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/1mXQ1PUgaJ0UMW44B40a5U In this episode we have a very special guest on our show. For the very first time, David's partner, Angelina Wong graces the Take 2 stage. She shares what the teacher and coordinator life is like, what goes into education and supporting the next generation.

03.01.2022 During these challenging times, we wanted to show our support by telling people's stories. These are some screengrabs from our recent video with Boulder Lab, looking into the effects of the restrictions and the business. This was filmed almost 2 weeks before Victoria entered stage 4 restrictions. As we're faced with many uncertain weeks and months ahead, let's help to #supportlocal and our community.... Stay safe everyone.

03.01.2022 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/22xFIuzkqXp0Rj5DEocTF7... We sat with Rachel, an incredibly talented local videographer, as she shared her experiences in building up her business, Rite Visuals (https://www.instagram.com/rite_visuals/). She took us through the questions on money and how the recent climate has affected her as a business owner and as a person.

03.01.2022 While it can feel like an uncertain time with the reintroduction of lockdown, here in the studio we're feeling reignited and ready to take it up a notch. Stay safe everyone! @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

02.01.2022 Before shifting our focus onto filmmaking and telling stories, we were known only as "Mind Society", where we were creating apparel and documenting the Australian Hip-Hop scene. While we're not able to go out and film during the current restrictions, we decided to revisit our roots and bring back some of our classics which are now available on our website! https://www.mindsociety.com.au/store... Every bit of support means a lot to us and helps to keep us around. Thank you for following our journey and look forward to some more videos and content!

02.01.2022 Full episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/D4WVmsnR2MQ Take some of Australia's most incredible chefs, add a studio kitchen, pour some drinks and mix in the creativity from isolation. Our special edition episode is something you don't want to miss.

02.01.2022 https://www.mindsociety.com.au//the-wanderer-nostalgic-lut Over the years we've worked on countless projects, making sure to get the right colour grade for each one.
