16.01.2022 Consider your Colours Different colour combinations can change the tone and appearance of your marketing material, it is important to consider how your colours work together and select colours that reflect your brand voice. For strong brand identity your colour palette should be applied consistently through all documents.
14.01.2022 Typography is a key element in your brand identity and should never be overlooked. Select a typeface that compliments your logo and brand style and be sure to use it in all instances where typography is required.
13.01.2022 Visual hierarchy is used in design to establish an order of visual importance directing your viewers attention to specific parts of the design and effectively influence how the elements are visually communicated. Contrast is an important component of visual hierarchy - dramatic shifts in contrast signifies change that will catch a viewers eye. Other components of visual hierarchy are scale, colour, alignment, and proximity.

10.01.2022 The Golden Ratio (also known as the golden mean) determines the most pleasing set of proportions for an element, and is simplified to the 'rule of thirds'. When used in combination with a grid, these simple rules for size, position and proportion can help ensure a layout feels coherent, but also aesthetically appealing With a ratio approximately equal to a 1:1.61, the Golden Ratio can be illustrated using a Golden Rectangle (pictured above). The best way to see the ratio is imagine you cut off a square (side length equal to the shortest side of the rectangle), the rectangle that's left will have the same proportions as the original rectangle.

10.01.2022 The grid is just one tool alongside many basic principles you can use to enhance your layouts. Digital (website) or for print (magazine layout, flyer etc), using a grid is so important.

08.01.2022 Typography is a key element of any design. Carefully choose a font that suits the style of your design. Be consistent throughout your design and limit your font selections to 2 or 3. #typography #graphicdesign #brandidentity
08.01.2022 Logo Consistency To maintain a strong brand image it is important that your logo is applied consistently wherever it appears - avoid manipulating, distorting or randomly changing the colours of your logo and stick to using only a primary and secondary version when necessary. #logodesign #branding #sydneycreative #graphicdesign #graphicdesignsydney #stationart #graphicarts

01.01.2022 When it comes to design it's important to know the difference between your standard colour models, RGB and CMYK, and which to use. A colour system is a method by which colour is reproduced. There are two primary colour systems: additive and subtractive (also known as reflective). We use both on a daily basis. Screens use additive colour to generate all the colours you see, while books and other print materials use subtractive colour for their front covers. In simple terms, anything that emits light (such as the sun, a screen, a projector, and so on) uses additive colour, while everything else (which instead reflects light) uses subtractive colour.
