18.01.2022 AUSTRALIA'S consumer watchdog has renewed its warning to caravanners that they could be using deadly water heaters in their RVs. The Australian Competition and ...Consumer Commission said that under certain conditions some Suburban-branded heaters which can operate on gas or electricity could become lethal. To date, only 210 units have been remediated or scheduled for inspection and the supplier would like to encourage greater consumer response to the recall, the ACCC said. 15.01.2022 On the morning of 25 April 1915, the Anzacs set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula in order to open the Dardanelles to the allied navies. The objective was to capture Constantinople (now Istanbul in Turkey), the capital of the Ottoman Empire, and an ally of Germany. The Anzacs landed on Gallipoli and met fierce resistance from the Ottoman Turkish defenders. Their plan to knock Turkey out of the war quickly became a stalemate, and the campaign dragged on for eight months. Over 8,000 Australian soldiers were killed. We will remember them.

11.01.2022 I have just been informed that the camp grounds on the Calliope River will be opened this weekend. The travelling public will be shouting for joy. This site i...s one of the most popular camp sites in Australia and it’s closure was not welcomed by many. Thank you Gladstone Regional Council. All we need now is for the Toilet on the northern side to be put back into service. This toilet has been out of service for approximately three years. Most caravans have their own amenities so it doesn’t worry them that there is no toilet. It is the tent dwellers that appreciate a toilet. I know everything takes time and our Council maintain these grounds to the best of their ability. But surely they can afford to fix this one toilet. That beautiful feature opposite the Council chambers is finished now, so let’s all cross our fingers and put this toilet on a Council bucket list. Our main income to maintain and make improvements to the Calliope River Historical Village comes from this camp ground. The tourists from near and far support us no end and it was dreadful to have to tell them they had to travel on. These travellers have a beaten track up the Queensland coast and we are only too pleased to see them and cater for their needs. Welcome back guys. Kay
