20.01.2022 Damnnnn up close and personal The darker the cupping marks, the more dysfunctional the local tissue is. In other words local tissue has poor vascular (blood) supply and is more likely to be symptomatic of pain and other symptoms such as tissue tightness. In Chinese medicine, this is also known as stagnated tissue with reduced chi- basically this means a reduction in life-force. I’m no master in Chinese medicine but I can certainly tell you that this is amazing and ce...rtainly does get unbelievable results with my clients. I like to use it for treating pain, tissue tightness, dysfunctions in the body, to decease pain, increase range of motion, clear toxins, bring more blood to areas and most importantly to promote and facilitate local tissue healing. Don’t take my word, just try it for yourself

17.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day and comes at a time when our daily lives have changed considerably as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is a great opportunity to explore your local neighbourhood, go for a walk and even pop in to say hello to your favourite barista. I do these things when I feel like I need time out or some fresh air. It’s also a great way to support your local businesses during these tough times.

17.01.2022 Patient suffering from Parkes Weber syndrome. Parkes Weber syndrome is characterized by vascular abnormalities known as capillary malformations and arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs), which are present from birth. The capillary malformations increase blood flow near the surface of the skin. They usually look like large, flat, pink stains on the skin, and because of their color are sometimes called "port-wine stains." In people with Parkes Weber syndrome, capillary malformations occur together with multiple micro-AVFs, which are tiny abnormal connections between arteries and veins that affect blood circulation. These AVFs can be associated with life-threatening complications including abnormal bleeding and heart failure.

17.01.2022 FEAR False Evidence Appearing Real Fear is just a product of the thoughts you create. Danger is real, but fear is a choice. ... How many times do you hold yourself back and avoid something because of fear? Perhaps fear of being judged, failing not living up to expectations from yourself or others. Try new things as new opportunities will come to you, growth, success and you may learn a lesson. Fear should never stop you from doing what you want that has the potential for a positive outcome. Start taking action towards your goals The answer is always a no if you don’t ask or try Remember fear is only a perception What would you do if fear was not a factor?

It is great too see parents understanding the importance of care and maintenance for young growing bodies to prevent injuries and to ensure their children are striving to achieve their goals and are working at the highest levels.

10.01.2022 Neurological Exam: Motor testing weakness in fingers Loss of strength, grip weakness, pins and needles and numbness are common symptoms of when our nerves become restricted. Each nerve has their own pathway and every muscle has a nerve/s that run through it to generate movement. ... So using assessments like where the strength of muscles is tested, help us to narrow down what nerve is being restricted when weakness appears. This way we can treat specifically down the right neutral pathway to relieve symptoms. Here’s a test that shows the most weakness in the second last finger. The ulnar nerve travels to this finger meaning this nerve has been effected somewhere along its pathway. We can then do further testing to narrow down where the restriction is coming from in the body ( ie. anterior/posterior neck region, pec girdle, forearms etc). If you think your are experiencing any of these symptoms down your arms, fingers, legs and toes please reach out and send me a message!

08.01.2022 SHOULD I STRETCH OR STRENGTHEN TO RELIEVE MUSCLE PAIN/TIGHTNESS? Mobility and Stability . . It can be difficult working out why you’re tight in some areas no matter how much you stretch and weak or flexible in others. ... . . The first thing to know is that the joint by joint theory describes our body as a series of alternating stable joints and mobile joints. . . If a joint moves away from from its desired function, either stability or mobility, the joint above or below will compensate. . . EXAMPLE: Our hips are designed to be mobile, our lower back stable. If our hips are tight, restricted and can’t move, the lower back will. When we force a stable joint to move, it inevitably becomes less stable and eventually painful. Once joints become unstable, other mobile joints will try and stabilise for it, repeating this dysfunction, pain & restriction throughout the body no matter how much you stretch a tight muscle! . . This means that maintaining strength and control through our joints meant for stabilisation (Lumbar, Knee, Foot) whilst keeping mobile in areas such as the hip, thoracic and ankle, will create a balanced body that can both be strong and able to move fluidly to reduce pain and restriction.
