22.01.2022 Oil Leaks ...... we have all had them at some point. Another reason you could fail your Roadworthy Inspection is because of this. To pass your Roadworthy, you can not have oil leaking from your engine, gearbox, power steering, differential, or transfer case from your car if it is bad enough to leak onto the road surface, brake components or the exhaust system of your vehicle. So next time your at your Mechanic for service, make sure you ask them to check for leaks and repair them as soon as possible. Do this, and you'll have no worries passing this part of your inspection. Safe motoring Rodney

04.01.2022 One of the biggest let downs to a "pass" in a Roadworthy / Safety Certificate Inspection that I come across is tyre condition. For Roadworthy, a tyre must have a minimum tread depth of 1.5mm across the surface of the tyre tread. Any part of the tyre that is below this is unacceptable for road usage. Tyres are one of the most important parts of your vehicle that are used in combination with your suspension to enable grip to the road in both wet and dry conditions. Under inf...lated or over inflated tyres can contribute to premature wear of your tyres thus effecting this grip and safety. Tyre pressure and condition should be checked on a regular basis so you can pick up on any problems before they really do become a problem. You can find your tyre pressure recommendation on the side wall of your tyres, or on the tyre placard label affixed to the body of your car (usually a label inside the door. If in doubt, check your owners manual for the location of your tyre placard or recommended pressures) If you are monitoring your pressures on a regular basis, and still develop wear, your wheel alignment, steering component or a suspension component may require addressing, so get your car into a shop for inspection as soon as you can.
