19.01.2022 After she was originally passed off as a hoax, it turns out Venus the 2 faced cat is absolutely real. But how she ended up with her unique markings might be a...s interesting as her appearance The search for the answer to Venus appearance started with the assumption that she was a chimera; basically the result of two fertilised embryos fusing inside her mother to create a true 50/50 cat with two sets of DNA. But testing has shown that Venus isnt this at all. Instead, her face is in fact pure luck. When her genes unleashed her colour scheme, by pure chance they landed on a perfect split of black pigment on one side of her face and orange on the other. But Venus most bizarre feature may not be her 2 faces. In fact, its something thats staring right at you - her blue eye. You see, aside from Siamese, cats normally only possess green or yellow eyes. So to possess one baby blue is considered incredibly rare and its cause is a complete mystery. Venus truly is one out of the blue Are your pets markings remarkable?! Pics: Venus the Two Face Cat

18.01.2022 Beautiful boy Hugo is feeling a lot better after we started him on some treatment for skin disease secondary to underlying allergies. Whilst hay fever is the most common sign of allergies in people, dogs typically present with skin disease - ear infections, feet licking and scratching. There are many types of allergies, the most common being caused by airborne allergens. Others include flea allergy dermatitis, contact allergies and food allergies. It is really important that a long term management plan is put into place to reduce flare ups and keep our allergic friends feeling comfortable!

18.01.2022 We hope everyone is having a lovely Easter and spent some quality time this long weekend with family and furry friends!

16.01.2022 Who can relate?

14.01.2022 Meet Jetta. This little man was welcomed into his new home yesterday and so far he has settled in like a little champ!

12.01.2022 How adorable is this face! Holly is a gorgeous 10 week old Lab x Golden Retriever who is going to provide her owners many many years of unconditional love after they were heartbroken after the passing of their dear old dog Gemma last month.

10.01.2022 Darling senior lady Dolly has just completed a course of injections to ease her arthritis and will now have monthly injections to keep her comfortable. Arthritis in elderly cats is not uncommon, however it often goes un noticed as signs can be vague especially if there is no obvious lameness.

09.01.2022 Spring has sprung! As the weather is starting to warm up, we are starting to see allergies flare up. Whilst allergies can be non seasonal, especially non environmental allergies such as food allergies, environmental allergies are more common at this time of year. Common symptoms include chewing of the paws, ear infections and itchy/rashy skin which may or may not be infected. Grass seeds are also common at this time of year and typically enter the skin between the toes and cause a terrible foreign body reaction. Its a good idea to always check between the toes and on the coat of your dog, especially long haired dogs after a visit to the park.

09.01.2022 Teddy has regular checkups to manage his skin and ear infections due to underlying allergies and his buddy Eric always wants in on the action - lets give him the benefit of the doubt and call it moral support but I reckon he just wants to be the centre of attention! Either way its lovely to see that they are friends! (Eric is the cat!)

09.01.2022 This very handsome boy Dusty had his puppy check up and vaccination last week and cant wait to start exploring the world (well, his suburb) next weekend! He was so well behaved and has such a lovely nature!

08.01.2022 It is very clear how loved Cooper the kitten is by his big sister (and brother). They cant get enough cuddles with him! It is so wonderful for children to grow up with fur babies!!

08.01.2022 Happy Saturday

08.01.2022 WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN Heres the surprising answer of a 6 year old child. Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfho...und named Belker. The dogs owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldnt do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience. The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belkers family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belkers transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belkers Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, I know why. Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. Id never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live. He said, People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? The six-year-old continued, Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they dont have to stay for as long as we do. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like: When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy. Take naps. Stretch before rising. Run, romp, and play daily. Thrive on attention and let people touch you. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do. On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree. When youre happy, dance around and wag your entire body. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. Be faithful. Never pretend to be something youre not. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently. Thats the secret of happiness that we can learn from a good dog.

08.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our wonderful clients! Please remember that chocolate can be dangerous for dogs - the two issues with chocolate ingestion are the fat/sugar content can cause gastrointestinal upsets or pancreatitis, and chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine which can cause neurological and cardiac problems. The toxic effects of chocolate are dependant on the amount and type of chocolate and the size of the dog. Please keep all chocolate out of reach of your fur babies!!
