02.01.2022 #BREAKING: A FREIGHT train loaded with general goods has derailed in a massive crash at #BOMEN, blocking the main southern rail line between #Sydney and #Melb...ourne. The train was travelling north through the #Wagga Business Park when it left the rails near the Austrak yard and former Dampier Street crossing just before 3am. It’s understood two locomotives and as many as five wagons derailed, with the train’s lead engine thrown onto its side. A large section of track was also completely ripped up and destroyed, cutting the main southern rail line in two. Although shaken, the crew miraculously escaped serious injury, walking away with only minor cuts and abrasions. Fortunately, no hazardous cargo was on board.
