22.01.2022 For those of you who already partake in regular strength training I’m sure you’ve felt amazing changes to your bodies and mental state. - It’s my firm belief that there is not one single person who would not benefit from increasing their strength through resistance training. - Here’s a small list of some benefits of resistance training;... - Increased Strength - More Resilient to Injury - Better Balance - Increased Bone Density - Enhanced Mental State - Increased Sports Performance - Greater Endurance - Decreased Blood Pressure - Better regulation of blood sugar - Increased Insulin Sensitivity - Better Flexibility - Confidence - Increased Sense of Independence - Enhanced Brain Function - Longer Life Expectancy - Decrease In Body Fat - Increased Muscle Tone - Decreased Falls Risk in Elderly And more - Keep in mind, resistance training doesn’t necessarily mean lifting weights. 19.01.2022 Scott trains with me weekly to help with his posture and confidence. - We’ve progressed him to some more unilateral movements as he has become more aware of his body movements. - At first for these split squats scott would hold the bar in the background to aid with his balance. However, this made him lean forwards and round his back... but we are trying to reduce his thoracic kyphosis (hunched posture).... - A simple change in position (hands behind head) and cue proud chest has improved his posture in this movement, leaving him nice and upright. - Unlucky it makes the balance a bit tougher though but we like to push Scott outside of his comfort zones with exercise so this is our next challenge to overcome! - #mobius #mobiushp #exercisephysiology #exercisescience #ESSA #ASCA #strengthandconditioning #strength #exercise #health #training #fitness #conditioning #weightlifting #crossfit #perthfitfam #fitperthlife #perthexercisephysiology See more

13.01.2022 Exercises don’t always have to be complex - For this overhead toss, all I cued for Callum to do was to; - dip the ball between his legs - Jump... - Throw the ball above the blue line With this you can see he’s achieved; - triple extension in the lower body - High rate of force development This will all help with Callum’s running, jumping, and power producing abilities. (Plus it’s never a bad time throwing heavy things around!!) 07.01.2022 Cluster Sets: - One of my favourite ways to build volume safely in a deadlift whilst also not sacrificing strength benefits and rate of force development. - Today I did 3 sets of 9 reps @ 66% of my 1 rep max. The 9 reps is broken down into 3 clusters of 3 reps (with 15 seconds inter-cluster rest). This video is my second set.... - The small rest in-between sets allows you to recover slightly so over the whole set you can lift a greater total volume without form breakdown. - Benefits include; - Greater volume lifted - Higher average power through each rep - Better strength stimulus whilst also getting muscle hypertrophy - Decreased risk of form breakdown/injury - Also, it’s a DEAD lift, lifting a DEAD weight from the ground. Not a bouncy mc bounce bounce lift. Pause. Reset. Lift again. Build real strength. Develop force from a static position.
