19.01.2022 The day of the Francis Fernando MOB Golf Open has nearly arrived! Looks to be partly cloudy day, with 11/km winds and decent 17 degrees. Please read below for important importation regarding the event and take note of the tee off times attached to this post. 1.This is an Ambrose style event. I.E. play next shot from best shot of group (within 30cm).... 2. Stick to the tee off times. We can not tee off earlier as Hartfield have restricted us to an 11 am start. 3.Play off from blue tees. 4. Play relatively quickly and be aware of the team behind you. We want to present awards between 4.30 and 5 pm. For the teams teeing off last, please take note of this. 4. Each player must have 3 of their drives used as the groups best shot. 5. If the chosen ball is off the fairway/ in a bunker/ off the green, then the next shot must be played off the fairway/ in the bunker/ off the green. 6. Handicaps: At the end of the game, we choose 6 holes at random and use these to create a handicap for each group based on the groups score over these 6 holes. Each groups net score is then calculated: Net score = raw score handicap. There is a nominal prize The Socks Prize in recognition of the best raw score of the day. There are also prizes for nearest to the pin, which is holes 4 and 12, and the longest drive on hole 18. 7. Have fun! Thank you very much to the following people for generously sponsoring this event: Greg Roberts frm KFPF Financial planning(https://www.kpfinancialplanning.com.au/) for donating $350 to prizes, Kevin Coghlan for donating golf ball prizes, Andrew Ross for donating $100 for longest drive prize and also for sponsoring the student group that scores the lowest score. Thanks also to the Fernando brothers for providing $100 prize money and bottles of Red wine as prizes. *Presentation of prizes will begin between 4.30-5pm. Thank you to The Mazenod Old Boys providing bowls of chips at the conclusion of your group playing. Please see Kitchen when you arrive at club house.

18.01.2022 Hi members of the MOB community, we are passing on some news that Mal Johnson would like us to share. Mal Johnson was diagnosed Huntington's Disease and the symptoms have resulted in him having to retire from teaching. Mal was a respected and loved teacher, Year 9 HOY and Head of Science at Mazenod between 2001 and 2018. He inspired countless Old Boys into science and engineering careers and is one of those Mazza Legends. Please keep Mal, his wife and three children in your thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to leave a message for him and we will ensure they get passed on.
