24.01.2022 Push-up technique . Here’s our Tuesday 4:30pm Little Active Bods class working through some tricep push-up technique . Key tips here were:... 1 Hands next to arm pits and elbows pointing up and backwards 2 Engage core and keep a nice straight position when pushing from the floor to the top (avoiding the banana back cheat) 3 Keeping the elbows back the entire time, head neutral whilst keeping a nice straight line . 21.01.2022 Here’s our Mini Active Bods program for 3 to 5 Year Olds) About: A structured 45 minute class that keeps the kids moving through fun circuits & obstacle courses, as well as working on specific exercises to improve strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness. We’ve seen the kids show big improvements in their hops, jumps, climbing, hanging, swinging, rolling, and handstands. Amazing what kids can do at this age and how beneficial it is to their growth as a child ...and future sport & recreational activity pursuit! Class Times: 10:45-11:30am (Mon/ Tues/ Wed/ Fri) 3:00- 3:45pm (Wed/ Thurs) 9:15 am (Sat) Enrolment As most kids in this age group aren't eligible for the Active Kids voucher, this has made it easier for us to facilitate an online booking system (via Mindbody) that will allow you to book your child into a class and make payment. 20.01.2022 The Tuesday 3:45pm Boys (little active bods program) are starting to come along nicely in terms of strength, handstands and discipline! It’s a working progress but the results (especially those that did last term) are really evident in terms of core strength, body awareness, technique and confidence . 18.01.2022 This little handstand drill helps teach the kids to get nice and stacked in their handstand position and maintain good posture (vs cheating the handstand by sticking the chest out and relaxing the body on the wall). So it’s a challenging drill as the kids now have to fight to hold the handstand using their back muscles . Where all about learning good technique in our classes. The little improvements and tweaks we make now, make a huge difference later on . This pa...rticular class is our Saturday junior girls strength & tumbling class which will run 9-10:30am (7-10 year olds) and 10-11:30am (5-7 year olds) during term 4. Here the senior girls acro & tumbling class are warming up with some lower body strength to help get those glutes stronger and turn on those fast twitch fibres. . ... 12.01.2022 Thank you eveyone for the birthday wishes - much appreciated **Quick update on the last 15 months** Feb 2020 - rebranded my business to Modbod and made the b...ig step to find my own space/ Warehouse and sign a new lease (following 4 years at Manly Warringah Gymnastics Manly Warringah Gymnastics Club who supported Handspring gymnastics and I’m very grateful for). March 2020 - built out the new gym to surprise all my adult members, only to be shut down a week later by COVID. July 2020 - the gym reopens and business is back. I also launched Modbod Kids - which kick started the kids side of the business ready for the start of Term 3. Feb 2021 - Due to the success of the kids classes and business, I signed a new lease for the warehouse next door and took part of the wall down to join the two warehouses together to make a bigger space. May 2021 - given the demand for our more gymnastics style classes, the logical decision was to affiliate with nsw Gymnastics NSW and become a registered gymnastics club (which ensures compliance in all areas of the business, and also offers more opportunities to grow the business). It’s crazy how the business has done a full circle! I originally went down the path of doing something different - which is essentially kids gymnastics strength classes (which we still offer and has done really well). However, kids just want to do gymnastics - get upside down and learn new skills! I quickly adapted, listened to parents and back to what we do best (our bread and butter) - and that’s teaching gymnastics. Hence why I quickly found more space and affiliated with gymnastics NSW. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for my team/ staff, and all the amazing parents that have been incredible with word of mouth! A big thanks to my girlfriend Mariana for backing me across all these steps I’m not interested in competitive gymnastics, but all about finding the balance between getting kids stronger and having fun leaning new skills they can have for life! I’m stoked to now have a gym where we have people aged between 3 and 60 years of age come to train.

08.01.2022 Ok kids (and even mum & dad) here’s a little handstand entry drill to practice at home . This is called the ‘dog with a sore leg’ and can be more challenging then it looks when first learning. This drill helps with: 1 building confidence going upside down 2 improving coordination & body awareness ... 3 learning key cues such as - keeping your head in, arms locked and straight, chest in and then nice straight legs once kicking. 4 Don’t forget to exit the handstand gracefully too No collapsing and hurting yourself ok! . The program (being our first ever term) looks to be doing the job we intended it to do . 06.01.2022 Plenty of lower body strength in this week’s program to help strengthen those glutes and get the kids moving better and more efficiently. The kids rotated through: 1 Single leg glute bridges 2 Squats to a target (using bands and a light weight to help keep good posture) 3 Elevated supine holds (to fire up the glutes, hamstrings and Lower back). .... 03.01.2022 Here the Monday strength & movement class are going through some candlestick deck roll squat jump progressions ! . There are so many movement qualities on display with this exercise! 1 Learning how to keep tight so you move more efficiently 2 Understanding where your body is and what it’s doing (especially when rolling back and trying to execute the inverted candle stick)... 3 Using core muscles to stay stable and not look like jelly 4 Using glutes and good squat technique when standing back up (with no hands down!) . The goal is to be able to do this floor level and without the raised surface assistance . Always plenty to think about when it comes to adopting good technique, getting stronger and moving well! It’s a more advanced version of our Little Active Bods program, where we can really push the boys to reach their full potential. The kids will also get a chance to work on mastering new skills (eg. pull-ups, handstands, dips, and even muscle-ups on the rings), circles on... the mushroom, tumbling skills, and various swing elements. This is a great way to get access to all the benefits of squad gymnastics without the competitive pressures! 03.01.2022 This is type of strength training (mostly gymnastics strength based), can be very challenging and a shock to the system when first starting out . The kids that hang in there, keep turning up and completing the program and certainly benefiting and every term feels a bit easier, the body awareness is there and the expectations are more aligned! .
