25.01.2022 At this time of great global need, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is encouraging people to bring light to the world this Christmas season through simple, meaningful acts of service. During these unique and troubling times, we have the opportunity to make a difference in small and natural ways, said Elder Marcus B. Nash, a General Authority Seventy and executive director of the Missionary Department. We can be a light that can shine to the world. We invite ...all to join with us this Christmas season and light the world, one person at a time, one by one, just as the Savior did. Together, we can end 2020 on a positive note. 17.01.2022 "Our five children, ages six to 16, could not believe we still got dressed up to have church at home. We recognized that we experienced the sacred feeling of wo...rshipping at church on Sunday mornings in our very own living room. It was a great blessing. Trying to make Sunday morning meetings at home feel special was challenging at times, but inviting family members to contribute brought intimate, sacred moments. Overall, we observed that the children have begun to connect the dots that the gospel is not just attending church, but a way of living. - Adam and Katie Williamson family from Adelaide, Australia

15.01.2022 PathwayConnect Enrolments Starting As many of you know, PathwayConnect is a one-year, inexpensive online program through BYU-Idaho that prepares students to start or finish a degree. It teaches Spiritual skills, Life skills, Professional skills, and University skills. Enrolments are now open for the next course, starting in September 2020. ... Brother Brenton Hedger, took the program over the last year, and had these thoughts.. For several years now I have been thinking about going onto further education, but I had no idea where to start. Over many years I had completed two diplomas, but I did not choose to go to University, and as the years have gone on it was something that I regretted. When I learned about PathwayConnect I felt an overwhelming feeling that I would like to be part of it. My patriarchal blessing stated that I should apply myself to my studies and not to be overwhelmed and that the Lord would sustain as I showed my love for Him. So, I began my first semester in Jan 2019, with about 15 students from WA and SA. We were introduced to our teachers, Elder and Sister Goodson, a couple from New York, who were wonderful from the start. They coordinated the one-hour class gathering each week where we reviewed that week’s lesson and assignments that were required to be handed in. They also taught the institute lessons, which were fantastic, and I learned so much from them. They are life-long friends. PathwayConnect was not always easy, you will have sleepless nights, you will get frustrated, but you can do it if you are disciplined, organized, and dedicated. However, overall it is one of the best things that I have done in my life. I highly recommend it. The instructors are wonderful and supportive and will always be there to help you succeed. I am so proud of myself for completing this course. I am now in the process of starting my first semester at Pathway Worldwide and a complete university degree. I know that this program is inspired. This is the Lord’s program; He knows what he is doing. I know it will not be easy, you just need to keep going and never quit. You will always have help as you ask Heavenly Father to help, he will guide you in your tasks as apply yourself. It is up to you, how bad do you want it? For more information about the program or to learn how to enrol, please contact Elder and Sister Peckham on 0423 466 814

14.01.2022 Be reminded before your recommend expires Eliminate last-minute stress over an expired recommend. If your recommend is active, the first time you access the Temples section in the LDS Tools app, you'll be asked if you want to be reminded to renew your recommend before it expires. At any time you can go to Settings and select your preferred reminder time period (between 2 to 8 weeks). (If your recommend has expired, you won't see this prompt.)

02.01.2022 When word came through that we would hold sacrament meetings in our home ongoing, we were initially unsure how our young children would cope with less contact w...ith their friends, teachers and leaders in Primary. We were worried how we would get through an entire Sabbath day at home together without the usual tantrums and disagreements. Would being at home all day make it harder to keep the Sabbath holy? What we found as we followed the counsel of our leaders and prepared for lessons with Come Follow Me was that the anticipated tantrums on Sundays were minimal, allowing the Spirit to be more present, our faith and testimonies were being strengthened from hearing each other teach and testify more regularly and we were becoming more unified as a family. Our 3 year old was reminding us of lessons that were taught previously in her own words, our 6 year old testified that still going to church, even at home, was the most important thing and our 8 year old expressed gratitude to continue receiving the sacrament each week. Rather than feeling more isolated from our Saviour, we feel closer to Him this year. -The Butler Family See more

01.01.2022 Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Modbury Stake, In the First Presidency letter dated 11 September 2020, Safely Engaging in Church Meetings and Activities, The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve expressed a desire for members to gather for weekly sacrament meetings, whether in person or via technology. Subsequently, the Pacific Area Presidency has encouraged leaders and members in Australia to continue their efforts to return to Church meetings and activities. Wh...ile government regulations permit, all wards and branches in the Adelaide stakes have approval to hold in-person second hour Sunday Church meetings at their local chapel. The two-hour Sunday block will recommence on Sunday 31st January 2021 with a combined fifth Sunday adult and children meeting (to be held in the chapel) to watch and discuss a video message from the Pacific Area Presidency regarding the 2021 Area Focus and for bishoprics/branch presidencies to present their unit’s plan to members on recommencing second hour classes the following week. Meeting times have been adjusted for the Playford and Gulfview Heights Wards to allow for an orderly departure of members and the cleaning of the chapel. Playford and Gulfview Heights wards will be meeting at 1:00pm at their respective chapels from Sunday 31st January 2021. From Sunday 7th February onwards classes for primary, youth and adults will be held according to the established schedule and we continue to encourage the use of interactive meeting applications, such as Zoom, where practical, so that all class or quorum members can participate. In consideration of government regulations relative to COVID19 and those issued by the Church, we continue to emphasize the importance of maintaining all social distancing requirements, sanitary procedures, safety in administering the sacrament, and the use of the COVID SAfe Check-In. Currently, the total number of people in any one room must not exceed 1 person per 2 square metres and social distancing principles continue to apply. Signs posted on classroom doors will indicate the maximum number of people for each room. In consultation with stake leaders, your local ward and branch leaders have prayerfully developed and are implementing a plan for the safe return to in-person second hour church meetings. Specific details for how the second hour of Church will run in your local unit will be communicated to you by your local unit leadership. We are grateful for the way in which members have adapted to and complied with all the changes and that South Australia is in a position such that we can again hold and participate in sacrament meetings, in-person second hour Sunday meetings, and other Church activities. Much love, Modbury Stake Presidency
