25.01.2022 Vale Frank Leslie Grant 14.1.1927 - 8.5.2020 Loved husband of Margaret Ada Millar and father of Julie & Rodney. Frank lived a long and happy life full of canoei...ng and cricket in his youth, followed by fishing, golf and bowling. He was actively involved in the development of the Moe Golf Club on its current site, especially in planting and landscaping the grounds. The waterlilies he planted there still make a beautiful picture every year. The youngest of a large family, Frank was born and grew up in Barkers Creek near Castlemaine. Frank was particularly devoted to his sister Nance, who named and looked after him. After his 5 year apprenticeship at the Thompson Engineering & Pipe Company, Frank moved to Fairfield for work and lived with his sister Nance and her husband Viv Tanner and their family. We suspect this is when he became a passionate Tigers (Richmond) supporter. He later moved to Sale, where he worked for Gilbert, Barker & Co (later called Gilbarco), boarded at the hotel and worked behind the bar on weekends. It was in Sale that he met the lively lass Margaret Millar (with some behind the scenes scheming by her sister Kathleen). Romance blossomed and they were wed at St Marys Cathedral Sale on August 16, 1952. They made their home in Newborough and built a life together, reared 2 children and involved themselves deeply in community and lasting friendships. Among many friends too numerous to list (the Gales & the Pinks, the Hepburns, the Ainsworths, the Spunners spring to mind) Frank and Margaret spent many happy holidays with Alf & Doris Budge at Walkerville where Frank honed his fishing skills out on Waratah Bay. Frank has been honoured with Life Membership of the Moe Golf Club, very fitting as Margaret used to say he spent more time there than at home! In later years he cared for Margaret as rheumatoid arthritis took a cumulative toll on her health and mobility. After her death he spent some lonely years before starting to enjoy life again dining out and visiting with Elvie Robinson. Thank you Elvie! Dad told me recently he had had a good life but it had gone on a bit long. He was ready to go, his body was worn out, and I am glad his last days were peaceful and pain free. Goodbye Dad, love you xx

22.01.2022 LATROBE CITY AUSTRALIA DAY RECOGNITION AWARD - ADULT CITIZEN CATEGORY - LUKE VAN DER MEULEN CONGRATULATIONS LUKE Luke Van Der Meulen has been active in the Lat...robe City community throughout his adult life. In the past, he has been a CFA volunteer firefighter, including Black Saturday, fires at Bunyip/Longwarry and the earlier Mirboo North/Boolarra fires. He was recently BlazeAid Yinnar Volunteer Coordinator, organising and working with volunteers in fire-affected areas over three months. Working up to 14 hours a day, seven days a week, these volunteers worked with families and individuals in rural Australia to rebuild fences and other structures after natural disasters such as fires and floods. Luke is on the board of local community broadcaster Gippsland FM and an active member of the Moe Golf Club, especially with the clubs volunteer work. Before his retirement three years ago, Luke was a long-standing union activist and leader within the CFMMEUs Victorian Mining and Energy division. He has been involved in various community grassroots campaigns, including the Save Moe Hospital and Public First campaigns in the 1990s, and in more recent times, the establishment and ongoing support of Earthworker Energy Manufacturing Cooperative in Morwell. Passionate about his local community, Luke has also helped Sudanese families settle in the area in recent years and, more recently, four Cameroonian asylum seekers settle in the Latrobe Valley.

19.01.2022 Pursuant to the Directive from the Victorian Deputy Chief Health Officer our golf club cannot organize a social sporting gathering. Accordingly all competition and social play will be suspended until midnight April 13th when a further announcement will be made. A social gathering is defined as two or more persons who do not ordinarily reside in the same residence. This means that one person can play or a couple who reside together can play on our course at any time. ...Please adhere to this Directive. After the prohibition is removed then we can return to enjoy competition or social play at our course. Anthony Gauci President

13.01.2022 Ladies and Gentlemen, Today we witnessed or took part in the final round of our fine Club's Golf Championships. Many competitors strived for greatness but, sadly, most failed to achieve such great heights. To those who soared above we mere mortals who make up the, "Also rans", congratulations! To we who are of the "Also rans." better luck next year! A Grade Scratch winner: Dale Scurlock, well done! B Grade Scratch winner: Peter "Mr Rodds" Rodaughan C Grade Scratch winn...er: Alan "Big Al" Gambling Veterans Champion: Wayne Yeomans Junior Champion: Liam Weir Well done! I'm sorry but I can't remember all of the handicap winners so none are listed. Sorry.
13.01.2022 First of all, welcome to all the Yallourn members who played here while their course was being utilised by the Gippsland Super Six professional contest this weekend. I hope you all enjoyed your round. What a glorious day! What a magnificent Golf Course! Such sensational scoring! Well, sort of by some.... I had the joy of watching Steve Nyko year the course to bits! PLUS 6, if you don't mind. If my memory serves me correctly, he only missed 1 fairway, the sixteenth, but he sti...ll got his 5 a half. Congratulations, Stevie, that new swing is really working well! Graeme Giesler, with a plus 4 to win "A" grade and Vinnie Powell also with plus 4 to knock off "C" grade, did not do too badly either. Well done! Don't forget, if you are looking for a game tomorrow, we have a 9 hole comp and an 18 hole comp, subject to starting numbers, of course.
12.01.2022 Ladies and Gentlemen, I am proud to announce the results of the round of golf held on our magnificent course today, 14th November, 2020. Well done to all.
12.01.2022 Ladies Saturday Competition Results 30/1/21
12.01.2022 Hi everyone. Great news!!!!! MGC is opening on Sundays for the months of January and February from 11.00am - 3.00pm so you can easily hire a cart and enjoy a drink after (or before) your game. Look forward to seeing you. It commences on 5th January. C U there!!
12.01.2022 Just letting everyone know at this stage it is still no carts on the course. But you are most welcome to come and play our great course with a push buggy. All competitions are still running plus green fee players welcome.
11.01.2022 As usual, the morning players had to deal with atrocious climatic conditions. We had a Scottish mist that just would not go away and then blistering heat from the blazing sun followed by a raging gale! Well done to those brave souls who dared to venture out prior to the clock striking twelve! You all deserve the highest of accolades. The afternoon players didn't do so badly either, winning just about everything! Interesting to note the winner of "A" Grade, with a magnificent... 40 points, is none other than Dale 'Scooter' Collings, a sometimes morning player. It is obvious that his experience toughing it out in the a.m. period of the day has stood him in good stead. Well done, young fella! Barry Mead knocked off 'B' Grade with a very fine 38 points smashed through to win and R Wilson, a chap I have yet to meet, blitzed the entire field with 41 sensational points to win 'C' Grade! Well done!!!! Remember, next week it is a stroke event. Yes, Monthly Madness has come again. See you all then.
11.01.2022 Please read the following notice carefully as we are following a gov directive to collect this information.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to our Ladies Pennant Team who did a great job getting into the finals. Unfortunately we couldn't quite get over the line with 3 matches going to the 18th hole. We ended up losing 3.5 to 1.5. The ladies did the club proud. We'll be back next year to go a step further
08.01.2022 Perhaps this may bring a tear to your eyes...... Golf... A little middle middle aged couple were in bed together when the wife started thinking to herself about the future if something should happen to her.... Darling, she said If I die, then hypothetically, would you marry again? Oh no, replied her husband, I could never do that I wouldnt mind," she said. It would be nice to know you werent lonely. Well, okay then, maybe hypothetically, I would." he says and gets back to his book. After some more thinking the wife says, If you did, hypothetically, marry again, would you sleep with her in this bed? Oh no, I couldnt possibly do that, it would be disrespectful. says the husband. Its okay, I wouldnt mind she continues. Well, okay then maybe, hypothetically, I could. says the husband. Another few minutes go by before the wife asks. And if you did remarry, would you let her use my golf clubs?" Oh no, the husband responds. Shes left-handed. See more

03.01.2022 What a wind up to the Year of Covid! See you later, 2020! The scores today seem to indicate exactly what we all thought of the past 12 months; Worm, 40 yes, forty big ones, Gavan 43 points to knock off "B" grade and my Loyal and Faithfull Peon, Mike Walshe, winning "C" grade with, wait for it (drum roll) (extended wait) (baited breath, etc. etc. etc.) 48 points!!!!!!! Well done Walshe, I hope your playing partners were paying attention so they could see how it is done..... As an aside, the nearest the Pin on the eighth was frightfully close, however, he missed the putt!!!! Laurie (new member) Veenman, you must pay attention.... Anyway, Happy New Year to every-one!!!

02.01.2022 Even way up in sunny and warm Darwin I get all of the guff from my secret reporters. Wow! What a day you all had! Jason Sprange with a very solid 37 points winning "A" Grade, "Mort" Dunstan with an okay 36 points winning "B" Grade and Ted "Roo Boy" Wolski winning "C" Grade with a not so solid 32 points winning "C" Grade. Come on fellas, the fog, low temperatures, rain, wind, hail, sleet and snow should not hold you back so far. Why up here in Darwin in the blistering 32 degree heat I managed 35 points! Are you all jealous? Well done to all who beat their handicaps and to those who didn't, keep trying, HARD! Nice to see 65 brave souls took to the fairways yesterday. Keep it up.
02.01.2022 Sunday 9 Hole Results

01.01.2022 Course update 2 April 2020. Whilst our course is still closed to everyone, there are plenty of things happening behind the scenes. Steve and his team are still maintaining the course to a high standard. Last Monday and Tuesday saw Adam from TurfAir come to do renovations to the greens with his 2G2. Cant wait to try the greens out.
01.01.2022 N Cooper, 43 points!!!! I don't know you yet but if you keep having scores like that it won't be long before everybody knows you, well done! Hey, Yabbie, a couple of points, I notice you got "Nearest the Pin" on the fourth but no birdie??? The second point, with your recent excellent form, how come Chucky hasn't got into you yet???? Well played.
