24.01.2022 Yallourn Norths new Rehab Unit vehicle will soon be responding to larger incidents in our area. The unit assists in monitoring the health of firefighters and assisting us to recover more quickly from the physical exertion of fighting fires. Oh, and it has chips and lollies!!!

24.01.2022 If your children saw someone like this, breathing like Darth Vader as they moved through the smoke, would they hide under the covers, under the bed or in a ward...robe, or would they run into their arms? If you dont have a home fire plan and escape route worked out and practised with the whole family, scared children too often hide when smoke detectors are going off, the house is filling up with smoke and aliens in space suits are approaching. This makes rescue much harder. Make sure you have working smoke alarms and a well rehearsed Escape Plan. 23.01.2022 Last nights training was Breathing Apparatus competency. That means empty BA cyclinders so a trip to Traralgon Fire Brigade for a refill was in order. This is just another example of how staff firefighters support volunteers in our service delivery. #weworkasone

18.01.2022 Last night’s training focussed on pumping. We did a two person Marshall drill that involved the pump operator: - running an attack line (2 lengths of 38mm hose) - providing water to the branch operator from the first aid tank... - setting a hydrant and running two 64mm lines into the pumper - changing over from the first aid tank to the static water supply - donning BA and taking over the attack line It was a great opportunity to practice under pressure and learn some simple steps to do things more efficiently.

13.01.2022 Last nights training involved locating an item on the truck in the dark and bringing it back to the group. The item was then passed to the person on the right who had to explain what it was, what it is used for and where it lives on the truck. Trickiest question of the night was whether that was a collecting or dividing Y ...

07.01.2022 SIGHTSEERS DELAY FIRE TRUCKS Last night fire trucks responding to a fire in Moe were delayed by members of the public attempting to sight see, including by driving down the narrow street that was the only access to the fire. Driving around trying to see fires, especially as the initial trucks are responding, not only slows down emergency vehicles responding to incidents but it also puts our members and members of the public in increased danger of accidents. ... Fires are not spectator sports.

06.01.2022 Today, International Firefighters Day, we pay respect to all firefighters who sadly lost their lives in the line of duty, including the 79 CFA firefighters. Today, we also show gratitude to those who selflessly protect the life and property of Victorians everyday of the year .^SW

As we come into winter it is important to focus on home fire safety.

03.01.2022 Last night the brigade responded to a fire at the old Chinese Dragon Cafe. Once again a member of the public has cut in front of a fire fighting vehicle responding to the fire. That person has then proceeded to turn into the street where our members were standing on the road preparing to fight the fire. Finally they pulled in opposite the fire, got out and started to film the fire. This has to stop! Fires are not spectator sports. ... This person endangered the safety of our crews not once but twice and delayed the firefighting response. See more
