24.01.2022 Summer Dinghy Sailing @ MOFSC On Saturday, 31st October, we had five brand new juniors join in on the fun as well as our returning fleet dinghy sailing. Carl took them all together on the Pacer to show them the basics and explain how the sail and the rudder worked before they all had a go. ... Shortly after it was back to the beach and within moments, they were all back out on the water in the Opi's doing it for themselves. Complete with man overboard tip and recovery drills. It was a fabulous and fun day that they all are coming back next weekend for another go! A terrific start to the season! 22.01.2022 Time Trialing - Bouvard Cup On Saturday 8 August the Bouvard Cup Time Trial was held. The event started with 30 people having lunch at Café Coast in the Port Bouvard marina. Ross and Laura Davidson on board Markel were the starters for this annual event. Along the course Des McLean, Charles Knight, Angela Cream, Faye Grey, Wendy de Bie, Tony Rogers plus Gill and Peter Wigley manned Checkpoints.... Competitors were Steve Carter and Jenny Devine on Dhu West, Mark and Jeni Sach on Ellabella, John OGrady and Kerrie Andrews on Zephyr, Andrew and Michelle Henshaw on Karma Blue, Tristan and Drew Kenney on Sukimiwake and Neil and Alex Dixon on Eric. 21.01.2022 Dear Members, I am pleased to advise the Western Australian Government COVID-19 restrictions are relaxing once again, with Phase 4 commencing on Saturday, June 27 (11.59pm Friday, 26 June). I would like to thank Members for adhering to the restrictions that have been in place and our hospitality team for their effective management of this challenging time over recent weeks. ... What does Phase 4 mean for the Club? Members no longer have to be seated when enjoying a drink in the Clubhouse. All existing gathering limits and the 100/300 rule are removed however the 2sqm rule remains in place. There will no longer be a requirement by the Club to maintain a guest register. Members and guests must continue to keep up physical distancing where possible and maintain good personal hygiene to better protect themselves and the general health of our community. Depending on infection rates locally, Phase 5 is planned to be introduced on Saturday, July 18 (effective from 11.59pm Friday, July 17) and will result in the removal of the 2sqm rule.

13.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS For people in South West, South Coastal and parts of Lower West and Great Southern districts. Issued at 4:46 am Wednesday, 17 June 2020.... Damaging winds are expected through southwestern parts of the State with the passage of a cold front during Wednesday. Plan Image Weather Situation: A cold front will move across the southwest of the State during Wednesday. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts to around 100 km/h are possible within the warning area and could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. DAMAGING WINDS are expected to develop about the Southwest Capes from 8am and extend eastwards during Wednesday reaching southwest of a line from Mandurah to Albany around midday. Showers and thunderstorms with the front are expected to be gusty and produce moderate rainfall. Tides will be higher than expected between Mandurah and Bremer Bay. DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS which could cause BEACH EROSION are likely to develop during Wednesday afternoon between Mandurah and Walpole, extending to Geraldton to Albany during Thursday. Locations which may be affected include Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River and Mount Barker. This is typical weather for this time of year however winds and rain may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. * Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows. * Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning. * If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water. * Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris. * Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. * Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris. * Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live. * Assess your home, car and property for damage. * If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs. * If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AWST Wednesday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Department of Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

12.01.2022 Tackers 1 & 2 Courses now available! Tackers is an introductory, fun, games-based sailing program designed for primary school aged kids. Kids dont need to have any prior sailing experience and we will provide all the equipment. Tackers involves 20 hours of participation over a series of sessions, each child receives a Tacker kit and a certificate of achievement upon completion. Tackers instructors are young, energetic, love sailing and have gained Yachting Australia accredit...ation. All the equipment, including the boats, is provided along with Yachting Australia qualified Instructors and Assistant Instructors, Tackers Pack and on the last day a BBQ to celebrate achievements and to hand out certificates. Juniors join FREE here at MOFSC! Why not join with them? The Mandurah Offshore Fishing & Sailing Club is great for families situated on the beautiful Mandurah waterways with views of the marina & sparkling Indian Ocean, complete with its own beach, playground & fully licensed bar & restaurant you dont have to have a boat to be a member! 12.01.2022 The Club grounds and marina is open for Members to check vessels and we advise you to ensure that all craft are well prepared and secured for the upcoming severe weather conditions forecast. Mooring lines check these are adequate, properly adjusted and chafe protection is in place where appropriate. Auto bilge pumps check these are working and free from blockages. Also check bilges are free of debris.... Covers ensure these are fitted securely both in the marina and hardstand storage. Flapping covers will tear themselves to bits. You may consider removing covers for the duration of the storm. This may reduce windage and prevent loss of covers. Furled sails remove roller furling sails if possible. If they must be left in place, ensure that they are properly secured and add additional ties where possible. Loose items make sure any loose items are stored or secured. In high winds flying objects can be hazardous. High tide/storm surge strong winds are often accompanied by a surge in tide. Please bear this in mind and be prepared. Dinghies - sailing dinghies stored outside should be tied down where possible and trolley wheels should be chocked.
