01.01.2022 Today is #worldgorilladay The day was launched in 2017 to celebrate but also to be remind us how we can help protect these beautiful animals. Their homelands are the tropical forests of Central and West Africa .There are four sub-species of gorillas, the Mountain Gorillas, Cross River Gorillas, Western Lowland Gorilla and the Grauers Gorilla. Their numbers in the wild are decreasing at an alarming rate and there are fewer than 1000 mountain gorillas left in the wild. One of the biggest threats to gorilla is coltan mining. Coltan is a mineral that is found in our mobile phones. The good news is that coltan is recyclable and we can all make a difference by recycling our mobile phones with organisation like Jane Goodall Australia Insitution or the World Wide Fund for Nature. #gorilla @zookeeper_chad
