23.01.2022 MOC has been informed the Mogumber Reserve, home of the New Years Eve Rodeo, has been designated as an Aboriginal Heritage Site. The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Ben Wyatt, has rejected the Club's request to install our newly purchased arena. The planned location for the new arena was the same location our club has installed the hired arena over the last 7 years. Our Club is unsure what impact this decision has on our community's NYE Event, the Junior Rodeo Events & Mogum...ber's recreation area in general. The Minster has urged our Club to liaise with the Traditional Owners, the South West Aboriginal Land & Sea Council & Ms Phyllis Toms. Our Club has written to these parties to see if there is a way in which the project can proceed. Our Club has also contacted the Government of Western Australia, seeking clarity. What impact does the decision have on our community event? What affect does the decision have on other facilities at Mogumber, such as our oval & hall? Is the Government aware that all community facilities at Mogumber are located on Reserve 8588? How will the recreation & social needs of Mogumber be catered for, given the Mogumber Reserve is the only parcel of land zoned recreation in the district? The Mogumber Outback Club hopes the significance of the Mogumber Reserve can be shared by all members of the community - past, present & future. ** Our club appreciates your input, respectful comments only please **
22.01.2022 Hey guys, Just wanted to say bloody ripper job by everyone involved in this years NY rodeo. Having someone to park everyone with floats was an awesome idea, e...veryone managed to fit in well and be able to get out if they didnt camp. The set up this year was as a busy mum with kids who compete in multiple events, plus spectate, it was super easier to get from out the back, to the arena and to our chairs to watch. Music and MC were perfect from where we sat. Food was great! Everyone was friendly, happy and enjoying themselves. Everything looked to run smoothly and what I got to hear of the band, they sounded awesome too! Congratulations again. Cant wait for the next 1!

16.01.2022 It’s with much sadness we confirm the 2020 Mogumber New Year’s Eve Rodeo will not go ahead. While the decision is disappointing, we know the Mogumber Outback Club will overcome this. MOC has faced many challenges since establishing the Mogumber NYE Rodeo. Our resilience & community effort have got us over each hurdle to date. It’s taken a ‘once in a 100-year pandemic’ to cancel the event in 2020. It certainly won’t be the end of the event forever. It’s a small pause and prov...ides us the opportunity to increase preparations towards the 2021 event. Our thoughts are with the Competitors, who’ve faced many event cancellations due to COVID19. We also feel for the vendors & suppliers of such events, whose livelihoods have been affected by this pandemic. The uncertainty of a global pandemic has brought about many considerations for the Committee. Western Australia is currently under phase 4 restrictions and the Premier has announced the current phase will remain in place until at least Oct 24th. There is no guarantee the State will move to phase 5 on the 24th Oct and we understand it is possible phase 4 could be extended. The uncertainly is just too great at present, which makes it extremely hard for the Committee to plan the 2020 event, a task which is normally well underway at this time of year. On current advice, events held during phase 4 must abide by a 1 per 2 square metre capacity. The area available in our spectator and bar area would be too small to allow Mogumber's normal capacity. The Australian Bushman’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association has prepared COVID Safety plans for their sanctioned rodeo events. There are numerous conditions which require extra input from the Club as organisers, including camping areas. This would place added pressure on our limited volunteer resource. The Club continues to liaise with the Shire of Victoria Plains & State Government bodies, seeking the approvals to install the permanent arena at Mogumber. The Committee is hopeful we’ll reach a positive outcome in the near future. The extra time provided by the 2020 event cancellation would be an ideal opportunity to improve the facilities at Mogumber, stimulating our volunteers & economy. The Committee is also working toward the establishment of the MOC Website. This will be a great way to keep up to date with the 2021 event preparations & hear from the Sponsors we cherish so much. Thanks to all the members, volunteers, followers, sponsors, competitors, suppliers & vendors, who’ve supported the Club to date. Let’s hope Western Australia remains a safe place and we can move past these unusual times as soon as possible.

09.01.2022 The 2019 Gilmac Mogumber NYE Rodeo was a riper! The MOC volunteers are into their 2nd day of clean up and pack down. The volunteer hrs put into the event is enormous. Some of the MOC Crew worked 48hrs straight (on top of 7 days set up/pack down) to ensure things are kept on track, safe & enjoyable for our visitors. We cant thank you enough! We appreciate the feedback from everyone. The praise picks our volunteers up when were exhausted & burnt out. The constructive cri...ticism helps the debrief & planning for future years. Please PM us your comments. We understand not everything is perfect, but our volunteers put their hart & soul into planning, preparing & staffing the event. We dont get paid, we do it for the Mogumber Community. We are working with some difficult conditions that are preventing completion of big parts of the venue design. Well continue to work towards the best event & venue possible. Thanks to all those who attended the event. Its delightful to see so many people in Mogumber, happy & enjoying themselves. The crowd was very well behaved. To the stars of the event, the competitors and their animals, thanks for providing hrs of entertainment. Thank you for following the instructions of our parking crew & dealing with the very limited space we have. Thanks to Gilmac our Gold Sponsor, Silver Chute sponsors, Bronze event sponsors, Junior sponsors & Program sponsors (well name them individually again in the coming days). Without your contribution the event would not be possible. The list of equipment which is lent to the event is massive. It comes from locals, businesses, other clubs & surrounding Shires. Each individual contribution leads to the success of this event & benefits our community. Thanks to the local authorities Shire of Victoria Plains and emergecy services such as VP St John Ambulance & local Police representation. Thanks to the companies & individuals who supply or service the event with equipment, security, rodeo staff, stock, DJ, Announcer, The Midnight Jokers Band and a list of many more. Thanks for working in with our needs. The MOC crew will have a couple more days of pack down & sorting until we put the gear away for another year & start the preparations & planning for the 2020 event. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for all the photos, videos & highlights of the event. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

03.01.2022 Our Sponsor B Waddell Consulting Engineers visited Mogumber yesterday to assess the Mogumber halls structural ability to hang a ceiling. The result is looking good How great would it be to have a dust proof & insulated community venue. Thanks to Brett Waddell & this team for accepting our sponsorship proposal. MOC swapped the sponsorship rights to a Mogumber New Years Eve Rodeo Bull Chute in return for an engineering report. Just hours after sending the proposal to a 'googl...e search' list of engineers, Brett replied with an offer to help. They're directly helping our community grow. THANK YOU Visit their website at https://bwce.com.au/. They're experts in both civil & construction engineering. After consulting with the Shire of Victoria Plains, the community realised an engineering report was the first step in the project. Once the safety & suitability of the ceiling can be ticked off by the Shire, the community can combine their fundraising efforts and possible external grants to achieve the project. #HelpingOurselves, #SupportOurSponsors #ProgressiveCommunity, #OneStepForward See more
