24.01.2022 Some research being undertaken with respect to worms in goats.

24.01.2022 If there are any followers in the South Gippsland Shire, please check to see if you are in a Rural Activity Zone. If you are then this amendment will mean you will need a permit to keep any farm animals. I encourage anyone affected to lodge a submission by 10 January. The scary thing is that no one has been notified of these changes. It's hard not to think the worst of this council when their actions, which will have a big impact, are so covert.

20.01.2022 It's spring and the goats are looking great. Thanks Margaret Nicholls for posting your photos

20.01.2022 Sorry about the short notice. Applies to sheep and goats.

17.01.2022 We are sometimes asked if Alpacas are any good as guards and do you need one or two? Tonight heading into the paddock it was clear that something was a miss. T...here was a threat in the paddock and the alpacas rounded up the goats and kept them in a huddle until the 'threat' had passed. Here they are guarding the goats...except for one, Drambuie, who was having a pee. The threat? A 'killer' wombat.

16.01.2022 We have just received some very sad and disturbing news. 8 Heritage Angora goats have been stolen from the property of a Merriwa based breeder. If anyone sees any ads for angora goats for sale in that area, please let us know. We'll provide updates as they become available.

14.01.2022 Here is some information from Mohair Australia Ltd. president Nick Gorrie about shearing guidelines during the COVID 19 crisis. 'With the COVID 19 situation we need to ensure we comply to the government regulations. In particular non-essential travel should be cancelled, group meetings (i.e. regions or divisions) and face to face meetings should be changed and done remotely by phone, social media or email, and any major events should be postponed. Please find below a link... to sheep shearing COVID 19 guidelines which demonstrates things can still continue on farm if due consideration is given to the government regulations (which are changing regularly so please keep yourself up to date). Contact your regional, division or national representatives and do not hesitate to use us as a sounding board. Let us know what challenges you are facing or if you would like us to help? We need to realise things are different and we need to be kind to ourselves and each other through this time. Stay safe and healthy. Yours sincerely, Nick Gorrie' https://mcusercontent.com//shearing_COVID_19_guidelines.pdf

14.01.2022 VALE Arthur Day It is with great sadness that the members and friends of Mohair Australia (Victorian Division) and the wider Victorian Mohair Industry acknowledge the passing on the 25th May of one of our most loved and long standing members, Mr ARTHUR DAY. Arthur, along with his wife Hilary have run the very successful Koonkie Worun Angora stud since the 1970s. Arthur was a devoted husband, father and grand father to his family. Nothing was to much trouble to Arth...ur. He was always there to help with his wonderful knowledge and advice. We all send our love and sincere sympathies to Hilary and family from the members and friends of the Australian Angora / Mohair Industry. R.I.P ARTHUR. See more
