24.01.2022 Tomorrow is the last day to post your election ballots! This election campaign has been an amazing journey. I have been so humbled by the support of my community, and am eternally grateful for this opportunity. I would like to give a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone that has reached out to me, put up posters, shared my social media content, and offered me words of support. I couldn’t have done it without you. If you haven’t already, please don’t forget to get out there and vote! Together, we can bring real change and create a thriving Maribyrnong for us all to be proud of. Vote 1 Mohamed Semra.

24.01.2022 I am honoured to receive such amazing support from our local small business owners! This is Sufyan from one of our amazing local distributors. His family business has operated in Maribyrnong for 30 years. Now more than ever, people like Sufyan in our local businesses need the full support of council to continue providing amazing goods and services. As your councillor, I will work tirelessly to provide them the support they need, so that our community can continue to thrive. #localbusiness #maidstone #westfootscray #braybrook #localcouncil

12.01.2022 Councils are in a unique position to improve community mental health. As your councillor, I will push for investment in local mental health programs and services, particularly to support local residents transitioning through key life stages. I believe that council should fully support proven community organisations such as neighbourhood houses, local charities, men’s sheds and sporting clubs. All of these groups play a vital role in preventing isolation and mental health is...sues. I am keenly aware that mental health services must be made culturally appropriate a task I am more than ready to champion. #mentalhealthawareness #cultrualawareness #community #maidstone #braybrook #westfootscray #tottenham

11.01.2022 My birthday was yesterday, and I just want to say shout out to all the mothers out there. For my 22 years in this world my mum has been my super hero. I gave her a hard time growing up to be honest and nonetheless she has always been by my side. She instilled in me the values of compassion, empathy and resilience all of which she embodies with grace. To all the mums out there, bless you

11.01.2022 Honoured to be featured on The Westsider.

10.01.2022 I am officially a candidate!. First and foremost I will like to thank the community for their support and encouragement. I have always put community first and community will always be my priority. As your independent councillor, I will listen and seek to amplify the voices of all our residents and rate payers. Within its scope, council must be more responsive to community issues, and more effective with its spending. If elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure rate payers a...re getting real value for their money. That means asking all the right questions. I will fight to expand our green spaces, advocate for more cycling paths, champion local jobs, and open Maribyrnong for business that benefits our community not big business. I will ensure that in these hard times our community is treated with compassion and given a fair go. Together, we can create a thriving Municipality which we are all proud to call home. #elections #council #community #westfootscray #braybrook #maidstone #tottenham

09.01.2022 My goal as a councillor will be to support those most in need. COVID-19 has exacerbated existing inequalities in our community, leaving countless families in financial hardship. I want to make sure that not a single person is left behind in the COVID-19 recovery. Supporting those most in need does not just mean waiving rates, it means ensuring that council services are doing everything they can to support community members. Through targeted local actions, council can positi...vely impact people’s lives. Council should help foster local employment opportunities and community activity, to make a difference for low income families who are finding things tough in our post-COVID world. #community #covidkindness #maribyrnong #maidstone #westfootscray #braybrook #tottenham

09.01.2022 There's no record of Victoria ever having sub-Saharan African representation in local government. I went from not even speaking in class because of my stutter to now getting the opportunity to speak to hundreds if not thousands of people. I am grateful for the support and encouragement from fellow locals and my passion will always be to create a Maribyrnong community that we can all be proud to call home. ... It’s time we fight for a Maribyrnong that rate payers can afford. #VOTE4CHANGE

07.01.2022 We all want a safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly City of Maribyrnong. We can start by developing bike paths and lanes that are well protected. Giving people safe places to ride has been proven to be the number one way to boost the number of people cycling. As your councillor, I will work to create more off-road bike paths and advocate for safer on-road cycling conditions. ... A priority of mine is to connect diverse residential areas to our local high schools via safe bike routes. I also want to establish a culture of active transport in the West that will benefit our community now and into the future. I’m a strong believer in maintaining our green spaces for community use, and developing more green spaces for the benefit of both our community and the environment. #sustainability #enviornmentallyfriendly #community

05.01.2022 As election period nears I can’t help but reflect on my time as school captain at Maribyrnong College. Before beginning my tenure I grappled with two important questions. What is leadership? & What type of leader did I want to be?... I learnt early on in my role that true leadership is much more than having power and/or recognition. It’s about equipping others with the right tools and strategies in order to help them reach their full potential. Leadership is about breaking down barriers and leading others through the uncertainty of the future. As School Captain I tried to be a leader that inspired change. I always tried to lead by example. I championed fairness, equality and inclusion. I worked with local community organisations, welcomed Victorian police commissioner and strived to be a role model for the younger year levels. As your councillor I will work to be a councillor for the people and not myself. I work for you. *Image* Maribyrnong’s four school captains with Race Discrimination Commissioner Tim Soutphommasane. #maribyrnongcollege #Leadership #community #marbyvoice #stonycreek

01.01.2022 In council I will listen more than I talk and I will seek to amplify the voices of our community members. I strongly believe that council is best when it is working with community. That being said I am launching #marbyvoice this week; A conversation with locals. I will speak directly with residents to find out what’s important to them and also highlight some of the good work that is happening right here in Maribyrnong.... If you know of a local doing something amazing message me or tag them. #communityvoice #leadership #conversation #maribyrnong #localgovernment #politics #wefo #maidstoneclub #braybrook #tottenham #smallbusiness
