25.01.2022 During this campaign, I have thought a lot about Moorabool and how I can be your voice. I've also had some time to reflect about who I am as a person, and what I can bring to the role of Councillor to benefit the community. So today's post is less about my stance on Moorabool Shire issues and more about what makes me, me! I am proud to call Moorabool home. My partner and I raised two daughters in this magnificent Shire. My children have gone on to give us three grandchildr...en. They all too live and love Moorabool. We moved to Bacchus Marsh in 1998 and we have been building a life and future in Moorabool. Volunteering locally has been a passion of mine for more than 20 years, including at Bacchus Marsh Grammar. I love this area, for its rural feel, stunning natural beauty and the fact it’s a great place to raise a family with community support. As a former national doubles badminton champ, I recognise the importance of sport in building networks, being able to keep young people on track, and keeping the community physically and mentally healthy. I have a track record of advocating for international-level sports facilities. 18.01.2022 Support from campaign mascot Morris and the Vote 1 BERRY cheer squad has helped me stay positive during this election campaign. What else has helped me stay positive? Listening to your thoughts and ideas for how we can improve Moorabool. It is encouraging... despite the many issues we are facing together. If you haven't completed your ballot yet, it's not too late to vote for an independent voice to represent you on Council. Vote 1 BERRY for East Moorabool Ward. Speaking of... staying positive a passion of mine is mental health and wellbeing. I think it's worth mentioning again here as it is an area I will focus on if elected to Council. Wellbeing and mental health is the topic of conversation in so many local homes. In the wake of COVID-19, referring people to hotlines or distant services up to 50km away is not a meaningful solution. We need a dedicated local centre with quick and easy access for everyone. We all need wellbeing to be a focus. 10.01.2022 I say NO to the proposed overhead power lines in Moorabool and, as you can see, so do many others in our community! At the AusNet drop in session in Darley today. There is another session tomorrow if you can make it: Thursday 22 October at Darley Park, 2pm - 6.30pm. The continual attacks on Moorabool rural ambience and natural beauty need to stop! I have already been actively campaigning against these high-voltage transmission lines across Moorabool Shire as the Bacchus ...Marsh, Darley and Coimadai contact for the Moorabool and Central Highlands Power Alliance. If elected Councillor, I will continue to advocate AGAINST above-ground transmission lines, and I will continue to SUPPORT the Moorabool Shire initiative 'Green and Unseen' for below-ground power to protect: The safety of everyone from potential radiation and fire risk. The environment; our flora and fauna as well as the pristine beauty of the Lerderderg Gorge. Landowners from potential financial ruin.
