13.01.2022 An image created by two women, who were just a wee bit scared They say bravery isn’t the absence of fear, but feeling it and moving forward anyway. They also say you should do one thing that scares you, every single day... They are surely wise. At least in the eyes of rock climbers. For this climb mama there is fear of pushing boundaries. The first time leading a climb, being unfamiliar with gear placement, and anxiously measuring her physical endurance. ... For me there is that moment of fear as I focus through the lens, and trust that my gear will hold me, and that I have rigged everything correctly. Yep, I am still scared of heights... correction, scared of falling. there is also the fear that while documenting, and sitting in silence behind the lens, I am not giving my friend everything she needs. Words of encouragement, or a sounding board for decisions. In the end we both bailed. I turned off the camera to talk to my friend, she decided that it was wise to turn back from leading the climb... and resolved to come back stronger. 05.01.2022 Waiting for a sunrise that never came, while casually looking gorgeous We love working with adventure women. Especially when they happily get dragged out of bed at 3am... only to be met with clouds crowding the horizon. That happened, actually it happened two days in a row. We hiked a summit, and descended into a beach cave, in near dark... with very little reward for our predawn wake up.... But this is part of shooting live on location. With strict schedules, you have to let go of total control and work with what you have. Sometimes that means no sunrise, flat light, moving locations because of rain. That’s when working with great people makes all the difference.
