11.01.2022 Book your skin check at Molescope in Mooroolbark now. #getaskincheck It's important not to ignore your health during this crisis. We don't know how long this will continue and skin cancers grow and spread over time. A 6 month wait for a melanoma may mean the difference between a small operation on your skin and a cancer that has spread beyond the skin. If you're high risk you need your regular skin check now. If you have a changing spot you need a skin check now. If you...'re concerned get a skin check now. All new patients will get a telehealth consultation with Dr Geoffrey Bartlett* first (to take history and assess your need to come in) and then if needed a face to face consultation with one of our other Molescope Doctors. Current patients who are not sure if they should come now or wait 3-6 months can also have a telehealth consultation with Dr Geoffrey Bartlett* and then a face to face consultation if needed. We are still doing surgery for skin cancers in our rooms - saving you the need to go to a hospital. We've got lots of safe guards in place to reduce the risks for you when you attend our clinic. These include waiting outside in cars only (no waiting room chairs), social distancing enforced inside the building, plenty of hand sanitiser, masks for everyone during their appointment and very frequent and thorough cleaning processes in place. Please ring 9725-3003 to make an appointment or for more information. *Please note that Dr Geoffrey Bartlett is not currently seeing patients face to face and is only providing telehealth consultations which are not intended to diagnose skin cancers, simply as a screening process to determine the need for a detailed face to face review.

10.01.2022 It's very important that cancer screening continues and that people seek medical care for new concerns. It's extremely concerning that there are reports today of a 30% drop in the diagnosis of Melanoma as that likely means early diagnosis is being missed. Early diagnosis of cancer saves lives. Book your skin check at Molescope now! Phone 9725-3003 or visit www.molescope.com.au Quote from Jenny Mikakos (State Health Minister) in the Press Conference this morning (copied fr...om the ABC): "It's important that whilst we remain vigilant against coronavirus, that we don't neglect our other health needs. My health services are reporting that there are declining and concerning attendances at our emergency departments, and this does suggest that people are putting off seeking urgent and important medical care that could make that critical difference to their life. "Presentations to our EDs for heart attacks are down 18%, compared to this time last year. For strokes, they're down 24%, compared to this time last year. And also people are deferring important cancer screening which has meant that we are seeing about a 30% reduction in reports for the five most common cancers - colorectal, prostate, breast, melanoma and lung cancer. "This is concerning because deferred care can lead to worse health outcomes. It can lead to longer hospitalisation stay, it can lead to tragedy. So, we are urging Victorians today to continue to visit their GP, to take their regular medication, and if they have any lumps or bumps or symptoms that they are concerned about, please do not defer seeking medical care. That may well mean turning up to an emergency department, or calling 000 if you have symptoms of concern. It is important that you continue to seek that medical care. "It may, in fact, save your life."

05.01.2022 Molescope will remain open during the Coronavirus lockdown. Unfortunately skin cancers continue to grow and should not be ignored for months. Early detection saves lives. As a medical centre we can remain open during a lockdown however we have made a lot of changes. We also ask that children are not to enter the building unless they are there as the patient. A single carer per patient is allowed but please only do this is 100% necessary (eg. patient with dementia or in need of an interpreter). We are doing the following: - having no patients waiting in the waiting room - setting up an outdoor waiting room in our back yard with chairs well spaced apart in the shade (or people are welcome to wait in their cars) - we ask that everyone use hand sanitiser on arrival and departure from our practice - greatly increasing the frequency of our cleaning - reducing on our site reception staff (off site staff will provide support from home) - we are increasing gaps between patients to reduce the number of people entering the building at any time - doctors will be wearing masks (as long as they are available) If you have any questions please call us on 9725-3003 during business hours.
