25.01.2022 http://molescreenpdt.com.au/m/melanoma-assessment-brisbane/ We all have moles on our body, assessing which could be melanomas is sometimes possible using the test referred to in the link above, but only a dermatoscope can really determine the status of a mole. Get them checked, this time of year is ideal.... Its easier to get an appointment and the lower UV reading means that they are not being pounded by the sun as much as the summer.

23.01.2022 http://www.dailymail.co.uk//Woman-half-nose-cut-herbal-rem This is why Black Salve(also known as Cansema or Cancema) is a terrible product. This article demonstrates the shocking damage it can do, compared to PDT where your skins clock is reset. Be careful!

23.01.2022 Skin Cancer Treated with PDT A large patch of chronic ulcerating Bowen's Disease responded well to PDT, see photos. The patient avoided a skin graft (although the end result resembled a graft) without the potential complications given the location.

22.01.2022 The difference between a good skin check and a bad skin check is peace of mind.

21.01.2022 http://molescreenpdt.com.au//go-fishing-regularly-conside/ Fishing is officially the most popular pastime of Australians but skin cancer is a very common outcome. Did you know 90% of skin cancers occur on the lower lip as it has a higher level of sun exposure than the upper lip which is shielded by the nose and angled slightly downwards?... Read the article and see what Elite Angler, Mark Davis has to say.

19.01.2022 Levels, Thickness and Stages of Melanoma I am often asked about levels and stages of melanoma. Melanoma is classified by Clark Level (where the melanoma is growing in the skin), Breslow Thickness (how thick it is) or Stage (0 to IV) (where it has spread to).... Clark Levels: The depth of penetration of a melanoma into the skin according to the anatomic layer. Breslow thickness: This is the thickness of an invasive melanoma as measured by the pathologist. This is used to predict 5-year survival. See more

18.01.2022 PDT EAR: PhotoDynamicTherapy. The treatment of sunspots and thin skin cancers with cream and light. Sensitiser cream is applied to the skin and left on for 3 or 4 hours. We can then demonstrate the presence of disease by taking a photograph with an ultraviolet light (see photo). The treated area is then exposed to high intensity red light for 9 minutes. Skin cancer requires a second treatment. Excellent results without scarring can be expected. The accompanying photo shows significant widespread sun damage, when reviewed three months later the ear was normal in appearance.

17.01.2022 PDT means photodynamic therapy. It is the application of cream and light to a sunspot or thin skin cancer. It is an effective treatment if used appropriately and does not leave a scar. It can be used with white light (predominantly blue) for field treatment (a face, chest or hands) or with red light for localised skin cancers. Blue light doesnt penetrate very far into the skin and is only suitable for thinner sunspots and is painless whereas red light does penetrate deeply as is required for skin cancer.

13.01.2022 Black Salve (cansema) This treatment often results in grotesque scaring and failure to cure. This picture is of a BCC treated for months with Black Salve. It required a large excision and skin graft. There is no "credible or scientific evidence that black salve, red salve or cansema can cure or treat cancer". See what the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration has to say: https://www.tga.gov.au/co/black-salve-red-salve-and-cansema. 07.01.2022 PDT, you need much more than just a light. Treating with PDT is more than just putting cream on the skin and shining a light. You need expert assessment and diagnosis of the skin lesion, deciding the appropriateness of PDT. Good skin preparation. You need experienced and skillful staff, a dedicated treatment facility with access to cooling equipment and finally the ability and willingness to offer long term followup.

06.01.2022 http://molescreenpdt.com.au/photdynamic-t/sun-damaged-skin/ The gentleman featured in this article has suffered from sun damaged skin to the point where not even PhotoDynamic Therapy can help him. One side of his face is in great condition but the other side has been ravaged by exposure to the sun through the window glass of his truck.

06.01.2022 This melanoma appeared and grew in a matter of weeks. If you see something new and you are not sure what it is get advice. Check your skin regularly and use a mirror. Check the soles of your feet, under nails, between your toes, use a mirror between your legs. Get your partner to check your back (use a mobile phone to photograph it) and your hairdresser can tell you if you have any on your scalp (pressing on them gives you location and number).

02.01.2022 Has that mole changed? The value of long term surveillance! This mole initially appeared very similar to the patients other moles but at a follow up examination a year later I could see that it had changed. It turned out to be an early melanoma, non-invasive and completely curable.
