13.01.2022 How much did you get? One of our MFS members near Bombala got 104mm!!! We only got 57mm at Maffra, but that’s more than enough to wet the ground and give us puddles to play in!

12.01.2022 This is an open invite webinar to anyone interested in learning more about Farming Forecaster, a new online tool that has been developed for graziers. Farming Forecaster places the latest weather, soil moisture, pasture production and livestock performance data at farmers’ fingertips, enabling timely and informed decisions. Farming Forecaster has been developed by Tablelands Farming Systems, Monaro Farming Systems, Bookham Agriculture Bureau and South East Local Land Services in close conjunction with CSIRO.

12.01.2022 A warning for producers on the Monaro. Several cases of photosensitisation in sheep and lambs have been reported across the Monaro recently. It is believed tha...t this has been caused by sheep grazing on lucerne crops that have cowpea aphid on them. Land managers are strongly encouraged to check their lucerne for the presence of these aphids. If significant numbers are present, we suggest removing stock from these paddocks until the aphid numbers can be controlled and reduced (talk to your local agronomist for options). If animals are displaying symptoms of photo sensitisation, remove them from the paddock and provide shade and shelter from direct sunlight until their condition improves (this could take about a week). Private vet practitioners can assist with pain relief and inflammation control options if required. You can find more information about the symptoms and treatment options in the NSW DPI Prime Fact: https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au//photosensitisation-in-stock.pdf If you have any questions or concerns contact your local agronomist, private vet or Local Land Services.

12.01.2022 How’s your moisture profile looking after the recent rain? Farming Forecaster gives us information about some local sites. Check yours out at www.farmingforecaster.com.au

12.01.2022 A REMINDER TO ALL FARMERS AND GRAZIERS ABOUT THE HIGH END IMPACT POTENTIAL ON STOCK THIS WEEK. High winds, widespread showers and hail, with low level snow comb...ined with not much sunshine in the bitterly cold air will increase the risk to stock dramatically this week. You don't have to be in the middle of the low pressure to feel the impacts with the field of strong to gale force winds and high wind chill running a long way away from centre of circulation for a number of days. The worst of the weather is expected at elevation along the GDR from southern QLD to VIC with multiple days of strong winds, rainfall, snowfalls and single figure temperatures. Improvement is expected by later Friday. Image - Farmers and Graziers Forecast for stock related impacts.
