20.01.2022 The Monash Blues Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Shanks Longney who passed away on Friday 7 August at the Epworth Hospital. Shanks was the pioneering founding Captain-Coach of the Monash Football Club. He passed up the opportunity to play in A Grade Amateurs with Old Melbournians in 1962 to be the Monash Captain-Coach, and in that inaugural year, Monash won the E Grade flag. In recent years, Shanks has been a regular attendee at our Grand Final Lunc...heons. We owe him a lot and will miss him dearly. A tremendously respected person both on and off the field, he will be remembered for his dedication and contribution to the Football Club, and as a quiet, sincere, and loyal friend with a heart of gold. Rest in peace Shanks. His online service is Fri 14 Aug at 2pm at St Paul’s. Details will be published in The Age and Herald Sun.

20.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who got behind our fun run and helped raise much needed funds for victims of domestic violence.

16.01.2022 A message from committee member, Julian Smith: "Dear Monash Blues Community, The VAFA last week cancelled the 2020 season. ... The decision is a blow to our players, with around 140 of them having returned to training in the past few weeks under detailed protocols. However, the Club understands and supports the VAFA’s decision. The health and safety of our players, coaches and support staff remain our highest priority. The circumstances surrounding the pandemic are fluid and present enormous challenges to public authorities and private organisations: it is not lost on the Club the extent to which even the best resourced organisations are struggling to safely navigate those challenges. The committee has worked its way through the myriad issues presented over the last 4 months with enthusiasm tempered by caution. A few have led the way. Alex Carr has had the unenviable task of leading the Club, and has done a fine job. He has been tremendously supported by Shane Chapman, Pete Russell and Eliza Millen, who did a mountain of work getting the Club into the position where players were back on the Frearson under thorough return to training protocols. Other important thanks go to: Monash University, for its fantastic support of the Club and helping us get ready for season 2020 in unprecedented circumstances; Our Mental Health and Well-Being committee, led by Jean Hansen, Natasha Tile and Matthew Davidson, who launched important initiatives at the time when our community needed it most; Our players and coaches, for their enthusiasm and participation in training, fundraising fun-runs, and the fabulous Mental Health and Well-Being video; Our past players and community of supporters who, despite the uncertainty of whether or not the Club would have a season, have continued to give generously; The Yorkshire Stingo Hotel, Abbotsford which has also committed financially to the Club at this important time. 2020 will hit the Club hard financially, and the Committee now turns its attention to our financial predicament and how we set-up our Club for continued success into the future. To assist with raising funds, the club is participating in the Toyota Good for Footy raffle. Thank you to those who have bought and sold tickets so far. If you would like to purchase a ticket, please contact any member of our playing group. We look forward to your support over the coming months."
