25.01.2022 Did you know there are 300+ accessible programs (and counting) for Aussie startups? This week, we’re introducing a member of the start-up community, Euwyn and his passion project, Sailist (sailist.co) Fun fact: Euwyn was the MEC president in 2018! Read on to find out more about what Sailist does: For the last couple of years, I've noticed how the Australian startup scene has rapidly grown. Now there are dozens-hundreds of accelerators, incubators, co-working spaces, ...VCs and micro VCs, and angel groups scattered all across the country. Australia is now the 5th most startup-friendly country in the entire world. But, there isn't a great way for a founder to navigate the ecosystem and resources available to them. So I decided to build it from the ground up. Sailist is my attempt to curate all of Australia's startup support ecosystem, so founders can be armed with an up-to-date directory for all the Australian programs, funding and resources to access.

03.01.2022 "Some other accelerators might offer you sweet cash money but take a piece of your startup in return. Or they might want to take part of that money back to cover the expenses of the program. But at The Generator, the $10,000 per team is for you to use to accelerate the progress of your startup, no strings attached."

03.01.2022 Hope everyone is doing in isolation! If you're looking for a dose of inspiration, do check out the following event held by our friends at The Generator. They will be launching their new series, 'The Curious Founder Series', where you can learn from some of the greatest minds in the start-up ecosystem. Alice will talk about her journey in taking a big idea, building a prototype without a technical background and finding product-market-fit. You'll get your chance to ask any pressing questions at the end too! Register directly on their event page. See you guys there

02.01.2022 Dear friends, In line with the government and university’s policies, MEC as a MONSU Club will have to cancel all events from now till the 31st of May. This includes O-fest and any other club activities throughout the semester, as all such events include much physical social interaction. Since yesterday, most of you might also have received news on the recommencement of our in-person classes, online. The MEC Committee has been working hard and enthusiastically to bring you... amazing, well-planned events this semester, so it does pain us to not be able to hold them. With that said, while we are rather bummed about the recent developments, we are in complete agreement with the actions of the university and MONSU. It’ll definitely be more meaningful to attend any events with a peace of mind and feeling safe. So, do not fret, our committee will regroup and think about how to continue to engage you through online means. And bounce back for a wonderful sem 2! Meanwhile, stay safe, be responsible and be kind! The MEC Team See more
