24.01.2022 Hey Everyone! As you may have seen, today is R U OK day As the lockdown rules change in VIC, and we aren’t able to see each other, it seems harder to be able to stay connected with friends and family. However, we’re hoping that today is a good place to start talking to others and reaching out again - we’re all in the same boat!... Call your family, reach out to old school friends or even message that workshop group chat from last semester and ask how they’re going. You could make someone’s day with just a hello, and it might make you feel better too knowing that many of us are feeling the same way. There’s a great resource on the official R U OK website for some ideas in starting and maintaining a positive conversation, and how to support friends and family who are struggling. https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask We have an interactive story on our instagram page if you want to check it out and be involved in sharing your self care activities today with other students: @monashbiomedsociety Lots of love and we hope to see your smiling faces around at uni soon enough. 17.01.2022 BIOMED COMMITTEE 2021 After yet another very close AGM, we're super thrilled to announce the Biomed Committee of 2021. We really mean it when we say it was super close and we'd like to thank every single one of you for all the amazing effort put into your presentations. The quality of candidates was extremely high and we are very sorry to those who just missed out! 16.01.2022 Hey everyone! We hope you’re all enjoying the semester so far! PEER MENTORING TRIVIA NIGHT ... This Thursday your super awesome peer mentors will be running the Biomed Trivia Night with plenty of prizes up for grabs Not only is this a great way to recharge before the semester gets a little crazy, but it’s also a fantastic way to catch up with all your new found mates So what are you waiting for JAFFYs, head over to the event page for all the juicy details and make sure you sign up here: https://forms.gle/RbFr73tueBGKmffC7 PREPARING FOR MIDSEMS It is that time of semester, when it seems like all tests and assignments are due at once! However, with careful time management, motivation and persistence, we know you’ll get through this busy time! Remember to: - Keep a plan Whether you’re studying, or trying to make progress on assignments, breaking big chunks of work up into measurable and digestible pieces can help you effectively manage your time and not to mention, will help reduce your anxiety when things get hectic. - Dedicate time for relaxation Even if you’re very busy, never forget to leave some time to go for a walk/run, take a nap, grab a snack, or have a chat with friends and family (virtually, of course). Keeping up your mental state is just as important as maintaining your physical health. - Organise a study group Study groups are a wonderful way to consolidate knowledge with your peers and to help each other grasp difficult concepts. It also helps alleviate stress when you’re around people who are going through busy times with you. - Use everything available to you Make sure you use all of the resources that are provided. These could be discussion forums, zoom recordings, Q&A sessions, workshops, textbook readings etc. This will help maximise your understanding and application of the content. We wish you all the best of luck! Lots of love, Your Sponsorship & Publicity Officer and Peer Mentor Officer, Eddie and Day-eth xx

15.01.2022 Hey everyone! As we all know re-enrolment for 2021 is open, and for most of us that brings about the daunting decision of which electives to choose. Well fear not, because the lovely Biomed Society has sorted out an electives information night on Tuesday the 10th of November from 5-7pm. We strongly suggest joining us if you’re unsure about which electives to choose and what’s available. There will be special guests joining to explore a range electives in different areas of st...udy. We hope to see you there! Your Biomed committee

14.01.2022 Hey everyone and welcome to exam week 1! We will be your Activities and Academics Officers for 2021 and are incredibly excited to meet you all next year for a covid safe boogie or two. For now we’ve put together a little video to say hi! With the easing of restrictions, make sure to try and catch up with your friends and hit the town (please do so by following all covid safe precautions). It has been a really big year for everyone and it is so important to take some time for ...yourself and your mental health. Here are some of our favourite covid-safe things to do: - Have a picnic in the park - Go to a bar and get on the beers with your friends and Dan - Go for a run/walk - Hold a games night of your own (we know how much you loved ours ;) ) - Have a covid safe dinner with your friends - Go to the beach Although the exam period can be super stressful, these activities are a few of many things to look forward to once we all finish! In the meantime, make sure to treat yourself to lots of rest breaks (eg. go for a walk, watch an episode of your favourite show) to keep yourself on track when studying. Wishing everyone good luck for exams! Lots of Love, Your Biomed Committee xx

14.01.2022 Welcome back to semester two everyone! We hope you enjoyed your time off and stayed safe. 12.01.2022 Hello Biomed members! This will be the very last (belated) Meme Monday post from your super sexy 2020 Biomed Committee! We’re very sad to say goodbye. But in saying that, we’re super grateful for all the ongoing support you’ve given us throughout this rollercoaster of a year. ... Fair to say that the online events were a big learning experience for us, so we’d like to give a special thanks to all of you who joined us along the journey. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we did and that you made new friends or learned more about potential biomed career options! Having overcome all the obstacles that this year has presented, we are looking forward to continuing to provide for our members and bringing back the events that make us who we are! This Friday 4pm at our Biomed AGM 2020, committee elections for 2021 will be happening and we’re super excited to see what ideas people have in store for next year. If you’re currently signed up as a member, come on down and have your say in who you want on the 2021 committee! Lastly, good luck for exams! There’s only a few weeks to go, and we all know how fast time flies all the hours of study will soon pay off, so keep this in mind if you’re finding motivation is lacking. You should all be super proud of your efforts this year and you all deserve a very relaxing summer. Goodbye and for the very last time... Love from, Your sexy Biomed Committee of 2020

12.01.2022 Hey all you smarties, Welcome to Week 3, a quarter of the way through the semester already!! Crazy how time flies when you’re having jks, not fun at all (stage 4 sucks). We all genuinely hope you guys are doing well and as cliche as its beginning to sound, we really are all in this together. STUDY TIP Personally, procrastination is my biggest downfall with this whole at home study thing. Idk about you, but if I even SEE my phone, I’ll go on it. For me, out of sight, ou...t of mind is the only way I’ll get my work done. Sometimes I put in on charge in another room, or sometimes I give it to my Mum and tell her not to give it to me until dinner even if I ask. Whatever it is, if it’s your phone, your Nintendo switch, whatever your greatest distraction is, try and sacrifice it for a few hours. Productive study and guilt free Mario kart playing later is a lot more satisfying than 10hrs of unproductive study.
