24.01.2022 Premiership Review U17’s 2002/03 As lots of you know, we did many of our Premiership reviews in the past 6 months as well as currently doing our Life Member reviews. In doing so we have uncovered lots of other parts of our History including photos, stories and records. All of this is fantastic and will add to our 125 year history book. Please send any other photos or info you might have through to the club. So, we found an old junior premiership photo this week which is not... on our premiership wall or on our website the U17’s from 2002/03. This team included two future 1st XI premiership players - Michael Langworthy and Billie Hicken who stared in this GF. Greg Meyers was the coach that season and this week gave us a recap of a ripping grand final win (see below). Go Hawks From Greg Throughout the season we only had the 11 players to choose from. It was a credit to the boys how they stuck together and moulded as a team. Their commitment was fantastic. We fielded the full 11 players for every game of the season. Rowville/Mt Gate went into the GF undefeated and were very confident of success. They were the only team to beat us in the regular season. The GF was a high quality game with both teams scoring over 220 runs. Monbulk batted first and scored 4/239. After a 54 opening partnership by Sam Coen and Ryan Jones we lost 3 quick wickets. Billie Hicken and Alistair Pitts came together for a match winning partnership of 145 runs, Alistair was out next for 60 and Billie continued on to score 98 not out. A great effort by both, scoring their highest scores for the year under pressure in the GF. Rowville/Mt Gate got off to a great start, with an opening partnership of 109 runs. Rowville/Mt Gate had a very strong top order who had made most of their runs that season. Our guys stuck to their task. They knew that once we cracked the coconut we were in the game. When we had both openers out at 118 and were right in it. Tight bowling and fielding in the middle overs by all our guys put Rowville/Mt Gate behind the required run rate, which proved too much for them finishing 9/224. It was a great team effort by Monbulk. We peaked at the right time of the season. It was very rewarding to see the joy on the faces of the boys knowing they had achieved something special. Cheers Greg

24.01.2022 G'day everyone, Just a quick note to our senior players.....we still have no definite start time yet due to Covid 19 but we are hoping for a mid to late November start for matches. We are just following government / Cricket Victoria guidelines. As soon as we know when training and matches start we will let you know. Please keep an eye on our facebook page for more info. Below is a letter from our President Jason Simmonds about our return to play procedures and there is a mo...re detailed version from Cricket Victoria on our website. Hopefully we can start training in some capacity soon (knowing that it will be with restrictions) but remember, currently you can be using the nets with up to 5 people from two households for some pre-season as well as getting fit / active / involved with our activity challenge. Also, our registration and membership fees will be reduced depending on how many games we miss, so keep that in mind please. Lastly, thanks to everyone that ordered merchandise. The first order / stock has arrived, we are just struggling to find an effective way to distribute with government restrictions but hopefully we will be able to soon, at least at our first training sessions. If you haven't paid for your orders please do so ASAP. Can't wait to see everyone at the MCC soon. Go Hawks

23.01.2022 Way Back Wednesday Milo in2Cricket / Junior Blasters With the announcement last week that our Junior Blasters Program won’t start this season until Feb 6th next year (due to Covid restraints), we thought it would be timely to have a brief look back at our entry level program that so many kids in our community have participated in and gone on to play junior and senior cricket at Monbulk. Milo cricket was first introduced at Monbulk in 1992/93 and we were one of first clubs i...n the area to adopt the program. It has been a constant over the years and has played such an important role in our community in teaching kids the fundamentals of cricket in a fun enjoyable way, promoting teamwork & friendships and setting them up for a lifetime of loving sport and being active. The name has changed over the years including from Milo Have-a-go, Milo in2Cricket to recently Woolworths Junior Blasters. Friday nights at the MCC have become a real family event, with the BBQ running, our junior competitive teams playing out in the middle with Milo / Blasters around the ground and in the nets. Some highlights of the programs have been Grandparents night, the Xmas party, Trophy night and for the lucky ones a trip to the MCG to play at the lunch break of the Boxing Day test. We have been lucky to have had so many fantastic co-ordinators of this program over the years plus lots of willing coaches from parents to junior and senior players thanks to all of you that have made this program such a success over the years. Lets take a look at some photos of our Milo / Blasters groups over the past 10 years or so. A reminder that until our Woolworths Blasters Program starts on Feb 6th kids can have a go at the Woolworths Anywhere Cricket Blast at home. They will play in the one day grade in our new one day top and their home ground will be the picturesque Baynes Park (see pics). A competitive and fun time will be had for sure. Mack and Spooner have already recruited the majority of a team including a fair few boys from the Monbulk Fnc Hawks who unfortunately didn’t get to play his season. 15.01.2022 FTGDCA Female Cricket Strategy Discussion with Paul 'Monty' Montgomery on Monday November 30, 8pm via Zoom Has your club spoken about starting a Junior Girls Cricket team? Do you have a daughter and wonder where the female game is headed in the FTGDCA area? If you have answered yes to either of these two questions we would love to have you involved in the above session. ... A number of neighboring Associations have developed flourishing Junior Girls competitions over recent years. Whilst the FTGDCA have entered female representative teams in VMCU competitions it is not yet supported by a vibrant club competition. Currently three FTGDCA clubs have Senior Women’s teams playing in the Women’s Community Cricket Competition and two others are playing in the FTGDCA Owls League. Only one of these teams are supported by a junior girls cricket pathway. During the winter months, there are 13 EFNL clubs in the FTGDCA area that have junior girls football teams. Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria are providing support and resources for clubs and associations looking to expand their operations in this area. The opportunities are evident in the FTG area and we are in a real sweet spot to take advantage over the coming seasons. If you want to be part of setting the direction of junior female cricket over the next five years , or if your club is inquisitive about what opportunities are available in this area, we would love your input. To register, please follow the below link. Given current COVID restrictions the session will be taking place via Zoom. The zoom link will be sent upon registration. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QHDQQQF

15.01.2022 Congrats again to Jason Fraser who last night at the FTGDCA presentation was awarded his Lomax Medal from last season. This was his 5th Lomax Medal (winning his first in 97/98) to go with his two Feaver Medals. All at the MCC continually admire Frase the cricketer and person and know how lucky we have been to have had him around for so long. He also collected our Decoite cup from last season as well.

15.01.2022 Senior Results from Rd 6 (Thanks to JR Sports Media & Design for the awesome graphics) Pictures also of our top 15 batting and bowling lists (including juniors) and senior ladders at the Xmas break. Our 1s sit in fifth spot, the 2s and 3s have been competitive winning two games each and the 4s and 5s are both second on the ladder- great work everyone.... Reminder that our 1s and 2s return on the 9th Jan and 3s, 4s and 5s on the 16th Jan. Merry Xmas and happy holidays everyone Go Hawks

14.01.2022 Happy birthday to MCC Life Member and former president Dave Walkley. Our 3rd XI MVP is also named in his honour. Dave, now living in Warrnambool is dominating the table tennis circuit down there we here. The MCC hopes you have a great day mate.

13.01.2022 A wet Saturday afternoon, but a beautiful Friday night to get our Junior Blasters underway. Our U16s had a great win yesterday morning with Logan McDonald, Todd Mackay, Tim Rickard and Lucas McIntosh all in the runs. Jacob Defina got 2/2 from his 3 overs. (full junior scores to come). Sometimes things don’t go your way, and that was yesterday afternoon for our seniors. The 1s did a great job to restrict The Basin to 150 with Dunc continuing his great form with the ball and s...kipper Powelly also taking 4 wickets. Unfortunately the rain set in and we were unable to bat. The 2s, 3s and 4s all battled through a wet, windy day all losing close games, the 3s and 4s both on the last couple of balls. The 5s had a bye. Senior Scores: 1s: The Basin 9/150 (D.Maher 3/14, A.Powell 4/27) v Monbulk - Wash out 2s: Monbulk 9/170 (P.Utting 25, B.Martin 46, L.Skipworth 22, J.Wensley 20) lost to The Basin 173 (J.Spencer 3/45) 3s: 6/173 (B.Trinnick 46, D.Clark 54, L.Jurey 28) lost to The Basin 7/176 (J.Cornwell 3/29, S.Utting 2/25) 4s: Monbulk 5/162 (C.Defina 67, N.Taylor 46) lost to Upper Ferntree Gully 3/166 5s: Bye Lastly, a huge thanks to everyone who donated gifts to the Open Door Xmas Hamper. 08.01.2022 This has to be some sort of record. Our 5th XI playing at Baynes Park v Olinda on Saturday were chasing 127. Our co-captains Clayton Spooner (Spin Diesel)and Liam Mackin opened the batting and passed Olinda’s score on the 1st ball of the seventh over. Amazingly Spooner retired on 100 after facing 24 balls. He hit 13 sixes, 6 fours and 4 singles. No doubt Baynes Park is a small ground, but this is still a ridiculously great innings and certainly one for the record books.... We finished on 0/154 after 7 overs with Mackin 38*. Andy Firth was the pick of our bowlers with 3/11 (all bowled) and also took a good catch. Pics below of Spooner taking a wicket while bowling also. 03.01.2022 Community Xmas Hampers @Jason Pilcher (father of Isaac Pilcher) who plays in our senior teams is organizing the below. Please support this especially in such a tough year. Great work Pilcher’s and all involved........... Open Door Community Church and Monbulk Care Network are committed to supporting our local community. Each year we have given away up to 70 Christmas hampers to families in need at Christmas. This has included gifts and food items to support families over the ...Christmas period. Together with the support of the local community this has been an amazing way to serve the local community. 2020 has thrown some challenges and we need some additional community support to bless families this Christmas. We need non-perishable goods, Christmas foods and drinks (no Alcohol), and presents for kids of all ages. We would like to be able to pick up or have goods delivered to the Op Shop by the 13th of December. We really appreciate the community support and look forward to continuing to work together into 2021 as well. If you have any questions please call Jason pilcher on 0417318374 See more
