20.01.2022 Our thoughts today on ANZAC Day, have been with everyone who has served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of those who have served us all so we can enjoy this amazing country of ours. Thank you. Lest we forget. Yes ... we are open tomorrow - 8 am to 1 pm.
17.01.2022 Happy Monday morning to you all. Hopefully the Stage 4 Lockdown will change and we will be back soon. I promise everyone - as soon as we have any information on a return dates - I will let you know. I have been receiving a number of queries from people to buy plants from our stallholders. It is now Spring and we have all been able to have some fun in our gardens during lockdown. A number of our stallholders are still selling plants and doing deliveries - including John/Lo...uisa and Rosie. You can contact John on 0438 566725 or Rosie on 0400 254751. If you are looking for any of the other sellers - please send me a message and I can assist you with phone numbers. Happy Gardening! Also .. don't forget our other stallholders that are doing deliveries. John - the Oyster Man with seafood - 0424 204549 and "The Boys" with their household goods (cleaning, bathroom & more) - 1300 438728 and Stockfeed - 0422 097845 (pick up not far from Whittlesea).
16.01.2022 It is Monday Market time tomorrow - 8 am to 1 pm. We had great attendance our first week back and more of our permanent stallholders will be joining us now tomorrow - including John with his oysters and great fish prices and Bill with his soaps. Rosey one of our permanent stallholders sent me a message during the week - which really sums it up. FROM ROSEY - Hi Janine What a day! Would love for you to post on my behalf the following if possible...... What a fantastic day i...t was at the reopening of the Whittlesea Monday Market!!! Was so good to see so many happy people enjoying the beautiful weather and shopping to their hearts content A huge thank you to Janine and the crew for doing such a great job. See you all next week Rosey. We had a great market last week and a HUGE thank you to everyone for wearing masks, social distancing and hand sanitising. The "COVID police" also attended and were very happy. Hope to see you tomorrow! Auctions are still on hold until the COVID restrictions change.
16.01.2022 HIP HIP HORRAY! I am very pleased to announce that we will be re-opening on Monday, 9 November 2020 - 8 am to 1 pm at the Whittlesea Showgrounds. We can't wait to see everyone again. Thank you for your support and messages over the COVID temporary suspension. Due to the big crowds usually on the Monday before the Melbourne Cup Day - we decided to wait until the next Monday to protect everyone attending. ... We do ask that everyone abides by the usual COVID requirements - which we all know so well now - wear a mask, maintain social distancing, use hand sanitiser regularly, if you have any symptoms - you must not attend. If you are waiting on COVID results - you must not attend. We will let everyone know the situation with the auctions - closer to the date. As the moment, there are still strict COVID regulations with the number of people that can attend an auction. We are looking forward to seeing you soon. At the moment - there is still the 25 Km travel rule. If you have any questions about any of the travel rules - please check your requirements with the COVID hotline.
15.01.2022 Good morning - We Miss Seeing Everyone at our Market. It seems so long ago since we have been able to welcome you. Like so many of us, we are still in Stage 4 Lockdown. Even though we are a lovely semi-rural community - we are geographically under the City of Whittlesea so ... we are considered metro Melbourne. We all have our "fingers crossed" that there is good news this Sunday. So far though, outdoor markets (selling more than food) have not been included in any information from the Government in the "roadmap". I have really really tried to get information by contacting many departments and politicians - but no luck. As soon as we have news on our situation for re-opening and it is legal, safe and viable - we will provide updates on Facebook. Hope to see you soon!
14.01.2022 We are open tomorrow for our great festive Christmas market - 8 am to 1 pm. The animal farm will be in attendance (COVID safe requirements - of course) plus also Santa will visit. Unfortunately, no pony rides - sorry. Loads of shopping - fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, seafood (John contacted me and loads of specials - lobster, prawns, oysters, scallops, mussels plus fish) and loads of berries and cherries (YUM) and don't forget to get a unique gift. Hope to see you tomorrow.
13.01.2022 TOMORROW - IS OUR BIG DAY BACK! HAPPY, HAPPY MARKET MONDAY TO EVERYONE! Finally - we can welcome everyone back to our Market. We have missed everyone. We are open from 8 am to 1 pm.... The auctions (goods & poultry) will not be going ahead due to the limitations with the COVID restrictions and the number of people that can attend. Felicity will however still have a big range of goods for sale - instead of the auction. PLEASE REMEMBER - it is essential to wear a mask. If you are not well, waiting on COVID-19 results or obviously have COVID-19 - do not attend.
13.01.2022 Well - I can't believe it. Monday, 21 December is our last market before Christmas. It is going to be a festive market and the animal farm will be back. Yeah!!!!!! COVID restrictions of course. So you don't miss out on your Christmas food favourites - you can order! Delicious and succulent berries - please contact Vince on 0459 839185. Vince can sell out quickly due to his amazing berries! ... Best seafood around - oysters, prawns, mussels and fish - please contact John on 0424 204549. All is good to purchase on Monday for Friday. John can assist you with this. Make sure you don't miss out!
10.01.2022 From our Market "family" to your family - Merry Christmas. Here's to a safe, healthy and fantastic 2021! Thank you to everyone that supports us and comes to our market - whether you are a stallholder or shopper. From the Team at the Whittlesea Monday Market - thank you.
09.01.2022 Remember Christmas isn't far away now. We have a wide selection of unique gifts plus of course - fabulous food. Many of our stalls are taking orders - Fruit & Vegetables (Michelle & Felix) and Seafood (yum) - John. Come join us today or I will during the week - place the contact details for both stalls if you wish to contact them directly. We are open on Monday, 21 December with the animal farm attending. Plus ... we are open throughout the festive and holiday season - we are NOT CLOSING and open EVERY MONDAY (including - Monday, 28 December).
08.01.2022 Hi Everyone. We have just received news today on all the changes by the Victorian Government. As our market is a community market and is governed by a Committee of Management, any changes have to go the Committee of Management first at a meeting. I can confirm that we will be back and open but not until after a meeting, when it is safe and viable. Please stay tuned and information will be posted as soon as it comes available.
07.01.2022 In case you are wondering when we were coming back? Unfortunately under the "Stage 4 Road Map", no real details have been supplied as yet for Outdoor Markets (eg. with food and other stalls). I have phoned a few times, including the Coronavirus Hotline, Business Victoria, Health Department and Premier's Department but I still haven't been able to get any additional information. So at the moment, I have been advised to just phone back. My fingers and toes are crossed that the return will be soon. So ... we are just WAITING!
07.01.2022 Good morning - just a reminder. We wish we were seeing you today - unfortunately though, WE ARE CLOSED. Due to the large crowds we normally have for a pre Melbourne Cup Day market plus also the additional people that may attend - as we are all home and not able to take advantage of the long weekend holiday - we thought it best to ensure the health and safety of our shoppers, stallholders, volunteers and our local community and to REOPEN next week - 9 NOVEMBER. We hope everyone understands. We look forward to seeing you next week!
06.01.2022 SPECIAL GUEST HARPIST TOMORROW! I am pleased to announce that we have a special guest joining us tomorrow. Michael Johnson, well known and accomplished harpist, who is a regular musician at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. Michael is a talented musician, composer and performer and has played his harp around Australia for forty years. His compositions are regularly aired through film, radio and television. ... We are fortunate to have Michael joining us tomorrow - so make sure you come down and enjoy his amazing music. We are open - as usual - 8 am to 1 pm. Plus the weather is going to be great!
03.01.2022 Well Done to Anja & Michael from Anja's scones. In conjunction with the Sandringham Lions Club they have been showing their support for the health care workers at the Sandringham Hospital with a Scone-A_Thon. 232 scones were delivered with yummy jam and cream. Can't wait to have one of your scones again soon. I know you can't see her smiling face but ... Anja is the one in her signature white T shirt!
02.01.2022 On Monday, many people were asking if we were going to be open on Monday, 26 April 2021. YES, WE ARE OPEN - from 8 am to 1 pm, as usual. Monday, 26 April is not a public holiday in Victoria. We have been having great numbers attending and just last week - we had around 150 stalls with a wide variety. If you have the day off or can pop in on your way to work, we will be there - 8 am to 1 pm. If ANZAC day, 25 APRIL falls on a Monday, we do close, as a sign of respect to all.
02.01.2022 Usually at this time of year I would be telling you about all the amazing plants we have for sale. Unfortunately, we are still in Stage 4 Lockdown. I have been receiving a number of enquiries about the market re-opening due to Regional Victoria being "open". Unfortunately, we are still TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED. Even though we are a semi-rural area - we come under the City of Whittlesea and are therefore considered Metro Melbourne. I will advise everyone as soon as I have received information on the "road map out". I am contacting all the relevant Government areas on a regular basis to prompt them to give us information. Stay healthy and well ... so we can open too soon.
01.01.2022 LATEST COVID NEWS Victoria has declared all of Sydney and the NSW Central Coast a COVID-19 "red zone". If since 11 December 2020, you have been in Sydney or the NSW Central Coast or have been in contact with a person from that area - you need to seek advice from the COVID hotline and NOT ATTEND OUR MARKET. Our thoughts are with everyone in Sydney and NSW and everyone that has family and friends they were hoping to see soon. ... We are open tomorrow for our festive Christmas Market - 8 am to 1 pm - more information later!
