03.01.2022 ARTIST PROFILE Summer Hiskens-Ravest (@sylva_vy) is a Meanjin based Artist, Performer, and Academic, working across a diverse range of tactile and electronic mediums such as Printmaking, Photography, Videography, Painting, and Experimental Music Performance. Summers’ practice is an investigation of conscious obscurity, absurdity, and wilful disruption explored through the use of multi-media and experimental art-making. The topics surrounding their practice are informed by Su...rrealist and Dadaist modes of production and experimentation. Conversing with themes of Nihilism, Anarchism, and Feminism, placed into a juxtaposition of current social, creative, and political limitations within Australia. Summers’ practice accentuates the importance of printed media and experimental media within our communities as a tool of communication, culture, and education.
