25.01.2022 All lives matter- doesnt matter what colour your skin is, your sex, your religion, your sexual preference or where you where born. I get so confused why this is so complicated. Be kind, treat others his you want to be treated. Simple principles (that we need to remember at home as much as our friends in other countries). #bekind... Artist @picsome.ca
25.01.2022 There is no doubt we have all been feeling the effects of the covid-19 pandemic. But how many of us have now been forced to stop....and have a look at the beauty that is still all around us! The beauty that has always been there that we have not had time to see or have stopped seeing due to our crazy schedules pushing ourselves each day past what our bodies and nervous systems are capable of dealing with. Ive been quite on Insta this past month, but my life has been far from... quite. The health store that I work in has continued to trade as an essential industry which I feel very grateful for. I have been using this time as an excellent opportunity to welcome a lot of new comers to our industry and offer advice on preventative health, immune modulating support and offer a Sympathetic ear to those feeling fear and anxiety at this time. Ive also enjoyed more then ever the time spent with my boys in our version of homeschooling due our isolation. As difficult as it may seem for all our little humans, I dont think we realise just how resilient they really are. Right now they are all learning excellent life lessons on how best to cope In a crisis. Something that cannot be taught by any school. There is no denying that the current state of our world has radically changed how we all live and hopefully given us on opportunity to embrace the quite, reconnect and see the world differently. There are so many lessons we can take from this time. What we must NOT do is go back to how things used to be because then these vital lesson will be lost. I wish everyone good health and stay safe. #covid19 #pandemic #worldcrisis #isolation #goodhealth #staysafe #instahealth #life #newworldorder #agenda2020 #life #herbalmedicine #herbalmedicines #naturalmedicines #preventativehealth #preventativemedicine #herbalist #lessons #lessonlearned #homeschooling #mumlife

24.01.2022 Dandelions // Taraxacum Officinale An underrated little ray of sunshine. This afternoons adventure, my boys decided to play a game spot the Dandys! ... Dandelions are used medicinally from the leaves right through to their roots. Whilst the Flowers arent necessarily used this way they are packed with Antioxidants and are actually really yummy to eat, sweet and crunchy. Dandelions are perennials and are growing all around us, most seen just as the pesky weeds in and around your garden. My recommendation if you wanted to harvest some dandelions to pretty up your next salad or for some extra digestive bitters in the leaves is to choose an area away from car fumes, herbicides and pesticides. Dandelion leaves and roots are a go to in my clinic and have a huge range of benefits to your health. *Speaking with your health care practitioner is always recommend. . . . . #dandelion #dandelions #flowersofinstagram #yellowflowers #edibleflowers #digestivehealth #digestion #bitter #goodhealth #medicinalplants #medicinalherbs #plantmedicines #plantsaremedicine #naturalmedicines #herbnerd #motherearth #herbalist #herbalmedicine
24.01.2022 Medicinal Mushrooms In the last decade Ive watched these funky looking Fungi really come into their own. Whilst Fugi have been around for EVER and most commonly used in past years in Traditional Chinese Medicine they have recently been getting a lot of air time....and for good reason. Turkey Tail ~ Trametes versicolour... Grows on dead logs world wide and gets its name for its resemblance of the colourful ruffled turkey tail feathers. For the Mushroom nerds out there Turkey Tail is a Polypore fungi or Bracket fungi. Research has shown some amazing benefits for the Immune System in particular. Loaded with antioxidants like Quercertin, a plant flavonoid reducing Inflammation throughout the body. Rich in Prebotics to nourish the GIT and encourage helpful bacteria to recolonise and suppressing problematic bacteria like E. Coli and staphylococcus. With protein bound Polysacaropeptides and polysaccharides stimulating the immune response by activating macrophages (specialised White blood cells). Infact because of all of the beneficial compounds, Turkey Tail has demonstrated its best work enhancing the efficacy of radiation and chemotherapy. With benefits ranging from Inflammation, Anticancer, Atheletic performance and Skin health if you want to Live long and prosper Turkey Tail mushroom is next level amazingly good for you! Safety Tip* if youre out foraging for mushrooms you should NEVER eat a mushroom you are 100 percent certain it is edible. Its one thing to eat a magic mushroom but another to eat a poison one!
23.01.2022 Natural power of C O L L A G E N One of the top ten FAQ, in store and in clinic. What do you recommend as the best Gelatin/ Collagen... Collagen is a protein, one of the key building blocks to our skin, bones, tendons and ligaments. //Fun fact// Collagen makes up 75% of our bodies support structure. So I guess you can say that make it pretty dam important! Verisol* Is considered one of the best, using a bioactive collagen peptide. Making it easily absorbed. Gut health and its importance is the forefront for a majority of health practitioners and for good reason. Our Gut is the hub of our body, it is where our digestion happens and nutrients from our foods are absorbed. Its a big part of our Immune function, the home to trillions of good bacteria (our microbes) the same gut bacteria that produce neurotransmitters such as Serotonin, Dopamine and GABA. With poor gut health a cascade effect of poor health and illness can follow. Our natural production of Collagen can start to deteriorate as early as our mid 20s and signs of aging may appear. My women clients will tell me... Everything is starting to head south! If you know what I mean??? Whilst there are many brands of Gelatin/ Collagen on the market from Bovine, Marine and fermented foods. It is important to choose the right one for your own health needs. Its my job to help you find the best one for.

19.01.2022 Need I even say this little ladies name? Lady? Well, my boys tell me shes pink-purple and her petals look like a part of a dress! E C H I N A C E A // Purpurea and Angustifolia also known as Purple cone flower. Undoubtedly one of the most widely used medicinal plants for Herbalists and Naturopaths practicing Western herbal traditions.... These are my only 3 beautiful flowers I was graced with this year. Echinacea is native to the prairies and marshes in the USA but due to its high demand it is now grown in parts of Europe and Australia... with these being my little addition. Benefits of this plant originally listed as Alternative and Antiseptic but absolutely does not do it just for its vast array of unique properties. Reducing the severity of Colds and Influenza and other respiratory ailments such as Bronchitis, Tonsillitis and Pleurisy. Urinary infection, Blood disorders such as Boils, abscess, acne and pimples around face and neck. Where Pus is present we know the immune system is working hard. Staph Bacteria and some viral, Like Shingles and Herpes that affects the nervous system. It also has an impressive line up of essential fatty acids. External applications for wounds, burns and some skin disorders. Roots and Rhizomes are used mostly and Alcohol extract method is preferred as it preserves the activity of this herb. The test to know you have good quality is the Buzz test. You should have a Buzz or Zing in the back of your throat and tongue with a temporary anaesthetic activity. Typically a very safe herb but not recommend where the immune system is already overactive. . . . #echinacea #echinaceapurpurea #angustifolia #medicinalherbs #medicinalplants #plantmedicine #plantallies #holistichealth #holistichealing #colds #influenza #winterguard #organic #mygarden #homegrown #buzztest #alterative #antibacterial #antiseptic #immunesystem #herbs #herbalhealing #herbnerd #herbalist #herbalmedicine

16.01.2022 Herbal Medicine week My love for herbs and the relationship we should all have with plants summed up perfectly. Some people see me as the white witchy woman and that is A-Ok with me. ... 15.01.2022 K I D N E Y H E A L T H // Sometimes said to be the batteries of our body. These two little bean shaped organs have a huge role to play in our bodies. When Im talking to customers and clients alike one thing I dont do is get scientific and technical. I prefer to keep it simple and besides, big fancy words is not me.... So here it is... Your Kidneys operate like little filters to remove waste, toxins and excess fluid out of our bodies. They make a number of hormones and are an Integral part of detoxification. Some would say even more important then the Liver. Our Kidneys also balance our PH, and remove excess Potassium via our Urine. Every organ corresponds to the energy of an emotion. Fear is the Emotion connected to The Kidneys. We all experience elements of Fear for different reasons and different times in our lives. Certainly these past few months would be concern for many that would be experiencing hightened levels. In Traditional Chinese Medicine Winter is the Season that is connected to the Kidneys. Its believed that by harmonising yourself with the season you can stay healthier and help prevent disease. So with Winter knocking, now is a good time to nurture and strengthen those batteries or beans! A few tips for Healthy Kidneys: Drink 2 litres or clear (preferably purified) water daily. Keep fit and active 4-5 days a week. Add lots of green Alkaline foods to encourage healthy PH levels. Practice meditation or a calming ritual to help keep emotions in check and stay grounded. Avoid where possible excess pain killers and anti Inflammatory medication that could harm the Kidneys (speak with your Dr regarding this) Contact your Herbalist for a personalised consultation to work on a protocol that suits your lifestyle. If your Iris appears green to the naked eye then you have a Lymphatic colour (blue) with a yellow hue which often reflects Kidneys as nurture point. . . . #kidneyhealth #kidneys #healthy #healthylifestyle #healthybody #healthymindset #organic #alkaline #emotions #emotionalhealth #naturalmedicine #holistichealth #heal #detox #h2o #herbalist #herbalmedicine #herbnerd #mothernature #balance #balance

07.01.2022 Mould and Mycotoxins. Unfortunately mould problems are not that unusual in our homes. There are many places that make the perfect environment for mould to be lurking.... Bathrooms Carpets Attics and Basements Around heating and cooling appliances Windows/ frames and on curtains Mould Is a type of Fungus that grows in filaments and reproduces by forming spores and can grow and thrive in any season. Mycotoxins are the compounds produced by the mould and are also found in range of food products such as Fruits, nuts, meats, cereals and spices. Countless numbers of species can be found indoors and outside. White, pink, yellow, green and black unappealing and unwanted smelly, furry growths. For me personally that includes the that of blue cheese Exposure to toxic mold (like black mold) can manifest in a wide variety of symptoms from mild to more serious such as; stuffy or runny noses, sneezing or an annoying cough. Dry skin or rashes Exacerbates or triggers Asthma Weakened Immune function Memory loss or Headaches Fatigue and weakness Chronic Inflamation response syndrome (CIRS)...Just to name a few. Its not all bad news though, with a proper diagnosis there a great range of treatments available. A building biologist can come to your home and do a proper assessment and guide you on correct treatment strategies. A natural practitioner can help you along your road to recovery. As mould likes to hang out in Bile made by the liver, stored in the gallbladder and released into the Intestines. Its really important to treat the gut. Dietary advice, herbal treatments and probiotics to create a healthy microbiome. Detox Binders such as Charcoal, Chitosan (sea crustaceans), Bentonite Clay and Zeolite can also be used to remove safely from the body. Safety First Be mindful that cleaning with products like bleach and the like (carcinogens, endocrine disrupters) are common but does not in fact kill the mould, can actually spread the spores. Clove Oil (Anti-fungal) and vinegar a much more Natural and effective way of killing this little fungus but also important to note that once sprayed on should be left for several hours before cleaning off.
07.01.2022 Are you feeling Loved, Appreciated, Acknowledged, Needed and Nurtured? Truth is, I think any one or more of these emotions are felt by all of us at some stage! We are all human after all right? The Pancreas is known to be one of the most reactive organs when it comes to our emotions. ... Those with the Pancreatic Sign (noted as the orange colour in these two eyes) Though this is not always the case, whilst this sign can be driven by emotions this sign can also be genetic or acquired. The pancreatic type are sweet people, searching for the sweetness in life. Sometimes they are finding that comfort through a block of chocolate or a sweet drink. Though this feeling is often short lived, so we go in search of our next fix. Iridology is not just a diagnosistic tool, it is also invaluable at helping clients understand we need to work with what we have. If our pancreas is our nurture point it’s important to eat, drink, think, live and love in a way that Supports and Nourish’s our body, mind and heart so we feel loved, appreciated, acknowledged, needed and nurtured. If you are interested in learning more about what you’re eyes have to say contact me for an appointment.

06.01.2022 Flower Essences// Our bodies store our emotions when we are in a negative place they can be just as toxic as diseases. After all when were in a negative place we have DIS-EASE in our lives. In 1935 Edward Bach creator of the now well known Rescue Remedy discovered, by supporting his patients on an emotional level as well as their symptoms he could heal the whole person. Harnessing the life force and energies of flowers and trees we could re balance our emotional, mental and... spiritual body. Making your Flower Essences is easy Choose a flower you have identified as safe to use and one you are drawn too. Carefully harvest your flowers on a clear sunny day, with gratitude. Fill a glass bowl with Spring water. Place your chosen flowering tops covering the spring water. Place your glass bowl in the clear sunshine or in the moonlight for 4 or more hours. Strain off your Essences and bottle with 50\50 ratio of Essences to brandy. Flower Essences are a great complement to herbal medicine. They work fast when you have the right remedy for the right emotion. They are safe for all ages including our furry friends. *Safety tips, always choose wildflowers that are NOT near a roadside, preferably fields that you know are organic (not sprayed with herbicides and pesticides) Apple cider vinegar or a vegetable glycerin and be used if you prefer not to use alcohol. Pictured here is Flannel Flowers one of the Australian Bush Flower Essences.

05.01.2022 I dont have time to deal with my emotions so I just put on a brave face....... Weve all had to do this from time to time right? Suck it up buttercup, Put on your big girl pants, put on a happy face, survive now, cry later... I hear this from a LOT from my clients... life is a rollacoaster of emotions but its how we deal with them that makes all the difference....Anger, Resentment, Jealousy, Grief.... Do you berry them way down deep inside? Do you ponder them quitely, or is it just word vomit? We all have our ways of dealing with emotions and our feelings but the fact of the matter is you do need to deal with them! My recommendations are different for all of my clients because their emotional baggage is different.... High impact and low impact exercises..take a walk or a run with a friend or at the beach, boxing is a good way to unleash. Meditation, come back to your breath its a great way to clear your mind of the drowning chatter that goes on in our brains each day. Yoga/ Pilates..its really important to stretch out and strengthen our muscles. A lot of people feel this is essential to their routine. Write it all down..Journaling a diary or a letter that you put in an envelope and tuck it away until its not so raw. Eat clean, healthy foods that increase Serotonin and Dopamine like Lean Organic protein, Free Range Eggs, Healthy fats, Nuts and seeds, Green vegetables or Blueberries. Get out into the fresh air, back to Nature. Book a massage, a lot of people hold stress in their muscles. Herbal teas, there are many herbs that are gentle and relaxing to the nervous system and tonify the Adrenals. I would love to know what works best for you?
