25.01.2022 A unique and interactive workshop for boys heading off to high school next year :)
24.01.2022 ONLY 2 SPOTS LEFT :)
21.01.2022 Spelling is such an important and fundamental language skill that unfortunately does not come "naturally" to all children. Our Eye Spy Spelling Workshop provides children in primary grades with a toolbox of essential strategies to improve their confidence and performance in Spelling. Successful spellers often rely on visual (memory & construct) and kinaesthetic ('it just feels right') cues. Children will explore both cues through games, repetition & drawings. ... Students will develop strategies to: * identify spelling errors * chunk unfamiliar words * identify & apply base words * recognise rhyming patterns * build on words * recognise & apply a handful of basic spelling rules I personally guarantee that children will leave this workshop with a smile on their face & the ability to spell more challenging words :)
21.01.2022 Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting a group of tween boys who will be heading off to high school next year! What insight I gained into the world of 12 year old males!!! They are curious about their future and excited about what lies ahead. Their worries seem few and their take on the world is positive. They developed mantras, planted succulents and wrote letters to themselves. They finished off their session by listening to some words of wisdom delivered by a wonderful... Year 10 student of mine. I've been asked to host more of these workshops during the January holidays. Please contact me if you would like to register your son for the next workshop!
20.01.2022 The Ugly Truth About Bullying .. because it needs to be said! Bullying is like benign cancer, it may not kill you, but it causes silent and unimagineable pain! It is indisciminate, festering in its own pool of uncertainty and dis-ease. It lurks below the surface, like a cowardly predator, reliant on its prey for some form of satisfaction.... I'm learning to draw strength from our experiences and see that the 'evilness', resembles the pressure that reveals the diamond, the oyster that reveals the opal or the mud from which the lotus flower emerges. 2020 has presented an enormity of challenges for all of us, but a few things remain crystal clear. Challenges build resilience and provide opportunities for character building. They reveal light in the darkest of places! And that nasty things happen to good people, like us. Whilst sticks and stones make break us physically, we have chosen to use them to build a platform upon which to stand and speak of the ugly truth about bullying. As a family, we choose kindness everytime! We seek comfort in karmic retribution, disguised as supportive words. Thank you for all the beautiful words shared as we lead into the last few months.
20.01.2022 This is my sister in law Claire, who has found her calling! She lives so far away from me in the UK, but I have always felt like we are kindred spirits as we share a passion for working with children! Enjoy her stories and the 4 legged friends who join her xxx... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMnsm6YMaC9MUyUytz2keZg/
18.01.2022 Powerful words to ponder! Adam is now taking bookings and has been overwhelmed by the interest shown by local families :)

17.01.2022 A Year 11 student's written response to the theme of chaos ... The morning birds were the town’s alarm clock. Their gentle sounds gave a false sense of peace for many folk. And just like every other day, this too was going to be chaotic. The sound of ten doors closing started the chaos. People weaved through the maze of other people to go to their jobs, to desks that pigs could keep cleaner. However, cleaning would hinder their work and afterall chaos had become their peace. It was the way it needed to be. The constant chaos created a calm life for the citizens of the town. There was order amongst the chaos. Ben, 16
15.01.2022 Dreams really do come true ... when there is an abundance of perseverance, self belief, late nights, caffeine, family, friends and a brain that never stops teasing me with words
13.01.2022 My husband Adam is now up and running and taking bookings!
13.01.2022 Another reason why I love working with kids ... they are brilliant motivators
13.01.2022 As a writer and teacher, I love to combine both of my passions and inspire the children I mentor. Over the next few weeks, I would like to share the works of my young writers. Charlotte is a 12 year old student of mine, with a natural gift for writing. Here is a short poem she has written using the technique anaphora, otherwise known as the repetition of a sequence of words at the beginning of a clause. Enjoy!
12.01.2022 Evening friends and family, I'm engaging in some research for the next chapter in my book; Finding my Purpose. In this chapter I would like to hear stories from... people who believe that they are living their purpose ie love what they do and do what they love. I am keen to hear from anyone who would like to consider answering the following questions for me. 1. What am I passionate or curious about? 2. What are my skills, my gifts, my talents? 3. Who or what benefits from my passion, skills, gifts and talents? 4a. What is my current employment? 4b. Is what I’m currently doing now, in alignment with questions 1 & 2? If you would like to contribute to my research, please send me a pm with your answers. Thanks in advance! :)

11.01.2022 I've been loving presenting my Tween to Teen Workshops over the past 2 weekends. This weekend I have the honour of hosting tween boys who will have the opportunity to listen to, 2 of my male high school students share their experiences and advice on facing Year 7. During the workshops, we discuss the highs, the opportunities, the challenges and the unknown that faces tweens as they prepare for the teenage years and high school. Participants write mantras as keepsakes, plant ...succulents and learn confidence building strategies. Monique, one of my Year 9 students has presented at the last two worlshops, sharing her tips on organising class notes, reading timetables, marking rubrics and devising study notes. In addition, Monique discussed peer pressure, the importance of forming healthy relationships and the challenges facing teens with social media. 4 of the 5 workshops have been booked out and there are 2 places available for my girls workshop on Saturday 28th November, 2-4pm
