25.01.2022 Just the "small parts" to be replaced in this 10 plus year old Rohloff hub. Many bearings have been removed on this bench in the past.

24.01.2022 Going fast, but not far.

23.01.2022 Fox/trek Reaktiv shock overhaul. Basically a DPS shock with the same preload-sprung compression assembly as the later Thru-shaft shocks. Neat!

23.01.2022 Ian standing just out of frame holding his new Jones 29+ LWB space frame. Beautiful!

22.01.2022 Some interesting pedals in the Free bin today... #buynothingnew (some days anyway)

22.01.2022 A new addition to the Monkey Wrench window, the Free Stuff basket. Some great gems and vintage curios. Old stock and parts from garages. Take what you can use!

22.01.2022 Bombtrack bikes closeouts! Beyond plus $2099, arise geared blue (pizza bike) or green (beer bike) $1599, hook 1 $1599. All gloves half price - ish

21.01.2022 Carry everything, all the time, hands free, worry free. Voilé straps in shop now, from 6" (152.4mm) to 25" (635mm).

21.01.2022 Any time I start feeling old, building up a 1950s three speed wheelset puts it all back into perspective. Early aluminum 27s, light for their time!

21.01.2022 Spectrum of bikes in the stands today was delightfully broad. 5 speed campy equipped Jack Taylor from yester-year (still zippy!) and a 160mm forked, 29er party hardtail singlespeed from Chromag are a couple of note. Both steel, both feel great. High fives to every bike rider on the planet

21.01.2022 Changing things around a little this week, as many choose to isolate and work from home, we are doing something similar here. It's important to us that we can continue to service the bikes of our community so we are essentially emptying the shop and providing "window service". Enjoy the sunshine, all!

21.01.2022 One of the fiddliest jobs we regularly do is to add an access hole to the compression adjuster on the early Fox FIT4 dampers in order to remove the circlip needed to replace the damper oil. The 1.5mm drill bit works well, but the damper has to be disassembled from the bottom, as there is not yet an access port in the top... Fox fixed this issue on the later manufacturing runs. This photo made possible by the lights fitted to make up for our aging eyes! @ Monkey Wrench Cycle Repairs

20.01.2022 This looks like a great event, beautiful trails and the right amount of beer.

20.01.2022 yeah baby I like it RAAW #noobphotography #buildoftheweek

19.01.2022 Smithers! Tell those lazy boobs not to come in on Tuesday afternoon!

19.01.2022 Beautiful new toy from @bertoz33, hand shock dyno with full trunion mounts, Specialized shock fitting, adjustable to suit all shock sizes. Should make testing easier. Fully CNC made in Australia.

17.01.2022 16 inch recumbent trike, 8 speed nexus conversion. Bananas for scale! A totally excellent little machine.

16.01.2022 These Victorian rail trails are thirsty work. #PBike

16.01.2022 Sturmey Archer drum/dynamo brake in for new bearings. Soldering iron played a solid role in getting it apart. Also gave us a reason to obtain a 34mm chamfer-free single-hex socket. 629 bearings are now a stocked item.

14.01.2022 Giant Maestro link bikes often have this cable rub issue on the shock body, sometimes requiring a shock rebuild and new body in order to maintain air seal integrity. This one should be OK. 40mm of clear tubing and a cable tie fixes the issue.

13.01.2022 Weather not great for photography, but winter days in canberra are perfect for blasting the local mtb trails. Bike is going great in SS mode @provacycles

12.01.2022 Out with the old, dead, TALAS 2 unit, in with the also old, but modified Float air shaft. The Poor Man's lathe turned down the air piston OD to fit into the upper leg, and the Poor Man's mill installed a higher hole for the spring plate roll pin. This 140mm, 26 inch QR Enduro fork rides again, lighter than ever.

12.01.2022 Spring and backpacking are in the air. Four capable and quite different adventure-mobiles passing through the stands this morn. @ Monkey Wrench Cycle Repairs

12.01.2022 1999 Cannondale Silk road 500. Headshok service all for 30mm of indulgent coil sprung travel. Bonus removable lawyer tabs for race day efficiency.

12.01.2022 For years we've kept the same opening hours, mostly because we didn't know how to get the window transfer reprinted. Some short work with a knife, though, and voila! New opening hours 8:30-5:30 weekdays. Just like a bought one!

11.01.2022 Some tools we're glad we don't get to use very often. Bike should go straighter now.

09.01.2022 Full Rockshox and Fox Racing shock and fork servicing available locally now. Now how to put this back together...

08.01.2022 Bike of the week! Great condition Shogun Metro, shifters serviced, good for another twenty years.

06.01.2022 White wall... believe it or not, we have a fair bit of it at the workshop. We want it gone, replaced by images that our customers send us of them and/or their bikes doing fun stuff. Like the ol' @donmcedald here! If you've got a pic that you think would hang nicely on our walls, send it through to [email protected] and we'll see what we can do :)

06.01.2022 Happy to work on anything with wheels, pedals optional. This UK-built, hand-cranked, dual disc brake, linkage-steered Mountain Trike is one of the cooler things we've worked on in a while.

05.01.2022 In situ replacement of a 15g OEM spoke. Increasingly, factory wheels are supplied with 15g threads and nipples, and rather than re-taping the tubeless rim to replace the nipple, modifying a standard 14g spoke to the smaller diameter and reusing the nipple is more cost effective for the customer. Rethreading using the labour intensive Hozan machine is satisfying nonetheless. The Ryobi RABS330 also comes in handy for this job.

05.01.2022 Brightening up a dreary winter day

04.01.2022 A truly odd assortment in the Free bin today...

04.01.2022 Vintage shock rebuild for type II Cannondale Jekyll. Proprietary shock mount with adjustable position collar. Current Fox shock service kit still has all the needed parts, and Kashima body available to replace the damaged original. Tidy!
