24.01.2022 Another view of an extension we performed on a worker's cottage located on a small narrow lot in New Farm.

23.01.2022 What you get when someone wants to build a house on a 350m2 sloping block located under a protected tree. Fun and challenging....just the way I like it.

22.01.2022 This redevelopment of a character house is almost completed. The house was sold while under construction so now we are onto the next project for this client who has bought another house in the area. Refer https://www.facebook.com/media/set/ for the sketch design album.

22.01.2022 This is another design of ours for Phase Developments. The original house was raised and built under with a new extension to the rear. It transformed a tired old home into a modern lifestyle choice. Needless to say, it was only on the market for a week before being sold by Place.

21.01.2022 Attached are some progress images kindly provided by photographer Robert Shakespeare of our design of the Harry House in New Farm. More of his work can be seen at www.robertshakespeare.com

21.01.2022 We have recently completed the Shirlaw House. This is a hillside house on the edge of Toohey Forest. It is a three bedroom, single level house projecting over the carport below. It has optimised views with a large viewing front and rear deck for that all important open plan and cross flow ventilation.

20.01.2022 This project is complete and the owner's have moved in. It will be profesionally photgraphed in the coming weeks so hang around for a professional view of this interesting and unique house.

19.01.2022 We have 5 exciting houses currently under construction. This one is of special interest as it involves 5 levels (up the side of a hill) and a Pre-1946 house that we retained as the upper level. I'll provide more about this house as it progresses as this contains many different qualities and approaches to that normally seen around Brisbane. Builder: AURELIEN BERSON CONSTRUCTION... 16.01.2022 We cant remove this character house so it was decided to give it new life with an extension worthy of the location. The site exists entirely upon an overland flow path requiring habitable levels to be 2m off the ground. We are therefore suspending the site including the yards above the flow path so as to retain a seamless indoor/outdoor relationship. These projects are as successful as the lateral thinking owners we are fortunate to have use our services.

16.01.2022 This is a fresh approach to this house we are designing on the Gold Coast. I just couldn't get satisfied with the previous sketch design and if I am not happy then we keep going. These images show an early massing study in progress.

16.01.2022 One of our recent house designs is currently for sale. Check it out now: https://youtu.be/25Tyl5cp0Eg A new house based on mid century modern architecture. It is located on a unique site requiring a clever solution.

14.01.2022 This is rather an interesting house under construction in New Farm and we are thoroughly enjoying the challenges of this unique design. Can't wait for the scaffold to go.

14.01.2022 Get the most out of your doors - We often slide doors beyond the opening to get a better relationship between internal and outdoor spaces.

13.01.2022 A modern interpretation of character vernacular - This is a street laden with larger character homes so when we removed the existing house to build new then it was important not to disrupt the streetscape. This was a house built to be sold. So it a fine balance of spending the money to obtain the best results whilst compromising the least. Once again it was the approach to maximise the site constraints whilst seeking the potential views, light and breezes.

13.01.2022 Current progress of one of our projects in Morningside by Aurelien Berson Construction - http://www.aurelienbersonconstruction.com/

13.01.2022 This project is well underway and Phase Developments are doing a fantastic job in its construction. It looks very much like our original computer imagery. Once again the house makes use of this hillside site to maximise the city and mountain views with a central green space and a large sunny pool for those hotter months. 12.01.2022 This recently completed Small Lot modern house in Camp Hill was constructed on a moderately sloping 10m wide x 40m long site in a 'strict' traditional character precinct. We approached this design a little differently by incorporating a central void over the kitchen/ dining area and locating a large living space adjacent the outdoor areas at the rear. This was then complimented by high level windows and large sliding doors to the side wall that encompass narrow feature gardens. In the end, these planning decisions made this house feel extremely spatious whilst using the same footprint of a standard narrow lot house. This construction was expertly achieved yet again by Phase Developments who continually impress with their ability to pervade quality with the very best of client service.

11.01.2022 Not long ago we completed a renovation and extension of an existing rundown cottage in New Farm set on a narrow, steep 305m2 site. The challenge was to make use of the whole site and provide a seamless connection with the outside living spaces.

11.01.2022 This is an early sketch design study of this house on the bay. A little tricky because the house needs to cantilever over an existing sewer line and the site is not classified as a narrow lot.

10.01.2022 A property no-one wanted except a buyer with foresight who knew an architect with vision. I am proud of this effort. These types of results are only obtainable with the trust and commitment that an owner has with the ability of the designer. It was an extremely precarious and steep site. Trapezoidal in shape with a poorly constructed cottage that was surrounded by at least 20 units peering directly over it. Heavily treed with little light below the canopy and a massive Norfol...k pine situated in the middle. Mosquito laden and hard to access - Why wouldn't you want to own it. Challenge accepted - The cottage was rotated, lifted and rebuilt (BCC refused to let this wreck go). A three story extension was added to the rear that wrapped around the Pine tree. A suspended pool and outdoor play terrace enclosed/protected by mesh screens. Skylights added and spaces orientated to the only outlook available. A stretch of adjacent vacant crown land to the East.

10.01.2022 An extension to a Pre-1946 house on a steeply sloping 305m2 site in New Farm. An example of investing in the design of your house to get the most out of your property. You will not only reap benefits with living in it but when you go to sell. Thanks Chris and Tina for using Monster Ideas for your projects.

09.01.2022 We designed this house for Phase Developments. It is located in Camp Hill in a street full of character housing and it was refreshing to reinterpret this vernacular in a modern manner. Phase have done a spectacular jo constructing this home which sold before completion. These photos were taken while the final touches were being made prior to handover. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did working on this project.

09.01.2022 This is the initial modelling study of the proposed wet areas for the Shirlaw residence. Elegant simplicity is the order of the day - A study in 20mm bench tops to reduce potential costs.

08.01.2022 The owner asked "Can you do anything with this house?". I said "Yes.". So they bought it. What do you think of the outcome? This site exists entirely upon an overland flow path requiring habitable levels to be 2m off the ground. So we suspended the home including the courtyards to create seamless movement between indoor and outdoor.... Builder: PHASE DEVELOPMENTS Engineer: INGINEERED

08.01.2022 This is a study of the living spaces for a small lot house (10mx40m site). We are approaching this design differently by connecting the living space directly to the outdoors. We feel this has great potential to create larger and more open feeling to the small lot solution.

07.01.2022 A few design development images of the hillside house that got recently approved by Sunshine Coast Council. It is to be economical yet a memorable experience. I think we are getting close.

05.01.2022 Two new houses built concurrently on a steep and challenging site in Tarragindi. A stunning outcome with spectacular views from every level. The play court off the main living suspends over the pool terrace below maximising site potential. This resulted in a record sale price for a site this size and very happy owners. Builder: AURELIEN BERSON CONSTRUCTION Interior: AM INTERIOR STUDIO Engineer: INGINEERED

05.01.2022 Construction of this project has commenced by Phase Developments. It is an extension to an existing character home on a sloping site. We are sliding, raising, building under and extending this house to create a modern lifestyle.

05.01.2022 ATRIUM HOUSE Visiting some of our houses under construction today. This three story, narrow lot house on the river was of particular interest. We designed it with a full height lightwell/ventilation atrium with an internal ground level garden off the living areas. This was done to bring light and greenery to an area of the site where none existed as this 10m wide site is tightly sandwiched between high neighbouring houses. The atrium also allows you to relate each story with each other including the entry. I am extremely happy with the results and a huge thank you to the owners for embracing the idea.

04.01.2022 One of our creations in New Farm. I took these whilst walking past today. I really need to get this house professionally photographed. More to come.

03.01.2022 This an early sketch design study of a house we a currently developing on the Gold Coast. These quick images help us better understand the spatial relationships so that we may further improve upon the design intent.

03.01.2022 This project was completed recently and exists entirely over a floodplain in an area where most owners are struggling to find solutions. The whole house and driveway is located above the flood waters and was achieved by using post-tensioned concrete slabs to increase spans and minimise footings and supports.

03.01.2022 This a new house being developed in a very character influenced street of Camp Hill. We have therefore looked to blend our modern lifestyle with the vernacular of the past to ensure a smooth process, yet interesting solution.

03.01.2022 This is an initial sketch design we are developing for a hillside house in Coolum. The proposal keeps the construction simple yet interesting for such a steep site.
