24.01.2022 1st bench postpartum As I did these on deadlift day (starting out with 2 days per week), I did 3x8 @ 25kg with a slight pause. I tell you, 25kg felt a lot heavier than it used to hahaha!

20.01.2022 Back into it last week, getting more and more consistent training squat, push and pull at least once a week. Fingers crossed I’ll have more time once the little guy starts having some food! Conventional feeling fairly good at 4x8 @ 60kg



20.01.2022 1st gym session postpartum! 2x10 and 2x8 @ 50kg - Man it felt good I stopped lifting at about 37 weeks and switched to swimming right up till the day before I went to hospital. Since being home I focused on listening to my body, letting it heal, and going for walks increasing the intensity on days I had more energy. I never put any pressure on myself to move, and I’m so proud that fact. Had it been 5 years ago I may have done so, feeling that ridiculous pressure to bounce back quickly. Because I took time to heal, focus on my little family, and waited till H was sleeping longer, I felt 100% ready to ease back in and the whole thing was very energising. Here’s to this new fitness journey! I hope to be able to be a good role model for my little boy xxx

16.01.2022 Last week was my second session back with a bar, and my WORD did it feel good! So proud that I’m staying sensible and increased the weight by 2.5kg on last week: 4x8 @ 52.5kg, and they felt great. Looking forward to trying out some barbell high bar squats this week, as the goblets have been moving well. It’s strange to think that it’s probably been over a year since performing conventional deadlifts outside of demonstrating to clients. I was training Sumo for the APU Comp that wasn’t to be in March, and then after that I got too big to be able to perform them without blocks.

15.01.2022 33 weeks now. Thought I’d give the old trap bar block pull another try now my lats have calmed down and my rhomboids have taken up the mantle 4x10 @ 65kg felt pretty darn good today



13.01.2022 Back up above 40kg and feeling very comfy. Jumped up 7.5kg from last time I squatted barbell, and my depth was even better. Not bad for training 1x pw at the moment. Now term 2 has started, I’ll be able to go back to my 2x pw with ease (as work forces me to stay at the gym and get it done ). Maybe I will manage to compete before the end of the year after all... but if I don’t feel ready, that’s ok too. So long as I can consistently move, I’m happy

11.01.2022 1st barbell squats to box postpartum 4x8 @ 30kg. I stopped barbell back squats around the 15-20 week mark (can’t really remember TBH) switching to goblet as I just felt more comfortable performing them. As the belly got bigger, I developed crazy lat spasms in my sleep and pulling the bar nice and tight was a bridge too far. All in all I think I did ok, and the 3rd and 4th sets felt practically normal... but oh my WORD do my quads want to tell me about it today!

04.01.2022 I incline bench! Especially as lying on a regular bench feels a little more treacherous these days 3x8 @ 30kg feeling nice and comfy
