24.01.2022 Our 2021 outdoor kitchen goals! All rocket stove powered. Can't wait!

19.01.2022 What is the 'blood cost' of things? Something we think about a lot here at Montague House 2023.

16.01.2022 We built this #solaroven the other day with the help of a few friends. It was loads of fun and, as always, things are better shared. It works well enough but may need a few adjustments. Thanks to the lovely team from Ecoburbia for the inspiration and instructions. It's the simplest and cheapest version we've seen so thought it would be right for our skill level. And it required no new stuff! Important in our goal of being #fossilfuelfreeby2023! .... . . #retrosuburbia #permacultureinthesuburbs #diy #usewhatyougot #urbanpermaculture #climateemergency See more

15.01.2022 Welcome to our adventure in household #climateaction

13.01.2022 Welcome to our first in what will be a long series of #climatehacks as we navigate the road to #fossilfuelfree living.

11.01.2022 Our junk smithed garden bed has been providing the household with all kinds of veggies since it was built using old bits and pieces in September (there's even a little video on our YouTube channel). It is so wonderful to watch it grow. #madewithjunk #Junksmith #fossilfuelfreeby2023 ... #ClimateEmergency #climatehack #usewhatyougot #urbanpermaculture #retrosuburbia #moneyless #wastewarriors #diygardenbeds Jo LowImpact See more

10.01.2022 Climate Hack #2 - The Gathering Guide This #climatehack is designed to keep us here at Montague House on track and thinking consciously about what we need and how we get it - one of many strategies that is helping us keep our emissions down on our path to #fossilfuelfreeby2023. Firstly, our favorite little saying here, 'check the supplies before you buy'. What do we already have that could be used or repurposed? In fact, do we really need it? ... Secondly, ask friends and family if they have an excess of what we need, building on our #local #gifteconomy. Thirdly, buy it (source it) #secondhand and #preloved locally, using op shops, the tip shop or other 2nd hand options like our local Really Really Free Market. Fourthly, buy 2nd hand from outside our area and finally, if there is no other option, we will buy something new but we want it to be as local and ethically made as possible. All part of the shift away from being 'good consumers' to happy household #climateactivists. #anticapitalist #usewhatyougot #retrosuburbia #goodbyefossilfuels #climatechangeisreal #moneyless #ClimateEmergency #householdclimateaction #goodbyefossilfuels #localisbest Jo LowImpact

10.01.2022 Here's our first garden tour - the #foodforest. A 'food forest' is a #permaculture based concept where food plants are stacked to mimic the structure (and hopefully behaviour) of a forest. We are only in the early days but this space will be a vital part of our #fossilfuelfreeby2023 plans and provide our #lowimpact household with many benefits (food, flowers, shade for the house, beneficial insects for pest management, and beauty). We explain more in the video and share some pretty pics too... . . . #urbanfarm #retrosuburbia #facetheclimateemergency #growyourown Jo LowImpact

09.01.2022 This is us. This is what we're doing and this is why we're doing it. Join us for this experiment in household climate action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVVsfz51qhs&t=3s

01.01.2022 We are loving the roses in our garden. Of course they have the most beautiful scent and attract lots of beneficial insects to the garden.
