24.01.2022 In the chaos that is the year 2020, the AFL Grand Final will not be taking place this September as usual. According to the Business Victoria website the public holiday is currently listed as TBD with a footnote stating that the holiday will be the Friday before the Grand Final once the game date is confirmed. The AFL are currently aiming for October 24 as the date for the big game, however that is dependent on no further delays to the season. It is also possible that the game... will be scheduled for November 1st which would see it clash with the Melbourne Cup weekend (more info on that below). Given that the date is still undetermined but could potentially clash with the Melbourne Cup weekend, we have decided to suspend taking any new bookings for the Grand Final until we can confirm the date. We are already fully booked for the Melbourne Cup weekend, and while our current intention is to move all existing Grand Final bookings to the new date once it has been announced, a clash with the Cup weekend would make this impossible. We are registering expressions of interest for Grand Final weekend should it not clash, and if you would like to join that list, email the details of your group to [email protected] and we will contact you once the date has been set. 24.01.2022 UPDATE 27/09/20 Good news! With all things going to plan (fingers crossed!) our Melbourne metro guests will be able to travel by October 19, which means camping for the Grand Final and Cup weekends is back on! In the coming days we'll be contacting those of you with existing bookings for the long weekends to confirm. GRAND FINAL & CUP WEEKENDS The change in date of the Grand Final public holiday this year and the uncertainty surrounding lockdowns and restrictions has meant th...at our bookings for both this and Melbourne Cup weekend are a bit up in the air at the moment. If restrictions are eased so that those in Melbourne metro areas are able to travel then we are already fully booked for both long weekends but if not, there will be sites available. We know that those of you in regional areas looking for places to stay are keen to book sites as soon as possible, and we also know that those of you still in lockdown are hoping that restrictions will ease and you will be able to honour your current bookings. We are hoping that the Premier’s announcement this Sunday will give us an indication of which way it’s likely to go but if it is still unclear we will be making a decision ourselves on how to proceed and will let you know as soon as that happens. Anyone in regional Victoria wishing to join the waiting list for either weekend can enter their details on our website and we’ll contact you if sites become available See more
21.01.2022 Further evidence of fish in the river! Luke and Amy braved the rain today and managed to hook these beauties as well as a few more, and plenty of bites. There's always one that got away though, and Amy hooked one too big to land but she's determined to get the line back in and try again! #montanacampground #macalisterriver #gippsland
21.01.2022 While the stay-at-home restrictions that are back in place for Melbourne will be affecting a lot of you, Montana remains open, including amenities, for those still able to travel. Some restrictions do still apply - social distancing measures still need to be followed, and we are not able to accept bookings for groups of more than 10 people. But as you can see, winter here can still be t-shirt weather (at least until the sun sets!), and it doesn’t get more peaceful than this :) #montanacampground #wintergetaway
20.01.2022 UPDATE 16/09/20 Montana will be open as of this Friday, Sept. 18th, from 12pm noon. As you are all aware, some restrictions are still in place: Our amenities will be open, but we recommend using private facilities (caravan ensuites, portable toilets, etc.) if you are able to. Masks are required in all public areas (outside of your private space). Social gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 10 people outdoors and are subject to the household bubble conditions indo...ors. For this reason, we are not taking group bookings individual bookings only. We all know what the restrictions are and why they’re in place. Acting responsibly and respectfully is how we avoid another lockdown over Christmas, and I think we can all agree that we’ve had enough already See more
17.01.2022 You don't have a van? Maybe you would like family or friends to come along - here is the perfect option. Staying at Montana in the luxury family van, fully self contained and set up on the site for you. All you need to do then is check in, fill your esky, and relax
17.01.2022 Sadly, with stage 3 restrictions back in force as of tomorrow, Montana will be closed until Sept 13 at least unless there are changes to restrictions. This is not great news for any of us, but we know that things are much tougher for a lot of you out there. Please stay safe, look after yourselves and your families, and know that we are counting down the days until you can all return for a hard-earned and much needed escape.
16.01.2022 You may have heard that as of last night, caravan parks will be allowed to open their shared amenities (some toilets only). After reviewing the additional measures that would need to be in place - floor markings to indicate social distance requirements, closing some of the stalls to maintain that distance, additional cleaning schedules and measures - we have decided that at such short notice we will be unable to effectively maintain the safety of the amenities block and it w...ill remain closed until further notice, meaning that all guests must still be able to provide their own private amenities. We sincerely apologise to those of you who will be unable to attend due to this decision - it was not an easy one, but we feel it is the best option at this stage to not only protect our guests, but also to minimise our own contact to ensure our ability to remain open. It’s not all bad news though - when the amenities are re-opened you’ll notice a few differences, and we hope you’ll be as impressed with the makeover as we are (and HUGE thanks to our helpers)! 14.01.2022 EDIT: Following further information received this afternoon, we are now waiting on clarification regarding "private facilities" versus self-contained and/or self-sufficient set ups. We hope to have a definitive answer on Wednesday morning. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, it's happening! Montana will be re-opening on Thursday 4th of June and we cannot wait to welcome you back! Covid-19 restrictions still apply, so we are onl...y able to accept campers who are fully equipped with private toilets and showers as our amenities block must remain closed. We currently have limited space available over the Queen's Birthday long weekend - enquiries can be made by emailing [email protected] or via our website. For those of you booked in for the Queen's Birthday weekend who are not self sufficient, please contact us to reschedule your booking. See more
11.01.2022 Tired of holding your breath? Bored of watching the grass grow? Itching to travel more than 5km from home? SAME. We don’t know yet when we’ll be able to re-open our gates - or what restrictions we’ll have when we do - but as soon as we know, we’ll post it here! Hang in there guys, I think we’re almost there...

04.01.2022 UPDATE 15/09/20 1.30pm It has been announced today that those of us in regional Victoria will be allowed to travel and book accomodation as of this Thursday. This is great news and we know you are all excited, but at this stage there is no information available regarding any restrictions that apply to us once we begin accepting guests. We expect there will be limits on group sizes but it is unclear at this stage if the household bubbles restrictions will also apply to acc...omodation bookings. We also need to confirm whether our amenities are able to be open, and need to ensure that we are meeting any other conditions or restrictions before we can confirm our opening date. We are working on tracking down this information as quickly as possible and will keep you informed as we go. We appreciate your patience and hope to have more updates for you very soon. See more
04.01.2022 What do you think? After all the weekends and holidays we’ve lost this year and seeing that Melbourne metro may lose even more Dave is declaring his own public holiday (Public HoliDave?) where we invite returning Melbourne metro guests exclusively to Montana for a weekend to be determined once lockdown ends. Although he can’t make it an official public holiday, it would be a good opportunity to cash in an RDO or book a day or two of annual leave if you can. So, what do you think? Is it a terrible idea, or is it just crazy enough to work?! Comment to let us know!
02.01.2022 Are you ready for a HOLIDAVE?!?! To celebrate the end of Melbourne/metro lockdown, Dave has announced Friday Nov 13th (that bodes well, given what this year has thrown at us so far!) as the first annual Montana HoliDave so we will be taking bookings exclusively from our returning Melbourne & metro guests for that weekend until Monday Nov 9th before opening any remaining sites to the public. All enquiries for HoliDave can be submitted via the Booking Enquiries page of our website. ( credit: Penny C Images ) #montanacampground #melbournelockdown2020 #holidave
