25.01.2022 During the last 2 weeks Mozart/Kindy children learned about healthy food and oral hygiene, while the younger ones in Monet/Michelangelo continued focusing on their personal development in the social, emotional, math, science, practical life skills and sensorial areas. Our soccer classes with Ginger Sports have officially resumed, as well.



25.01.2022 This week Mozart/Kindy Class focused on space, particularly the solar system, as part of the child initiated topic. The children learned the names of the planets and some facts about them, about the sun and the orbit. Monet/Michelangelo Class focused on their general developmental skills, as quite a few children are getting prepared to transition to the older class.

25.01.2022 This week our classes were merged due to many absences and the weather was nice, so we spent most of the time outdoors. Children played games they don't often play and had the opportunity to socialise in different ways.

25.01.2022 This week our classes were learning about the Lunar New Year celebrated mostly in Asian countries. Families with Asian heritage were invited to present their culture to our classes; we'd like to thank Ms Renee for coming in, telling us a story about the origin of the Chinese Zodiac and showing us artifacts from China. Xin Nian Kuai Le!



24.01.2022 This week Mozart/Kindy Class learned about Frogs and Fish life cycles and body parts, while Monet/Michelangelo children focused on dinosaurs.

23.01.2022 This week our classes were merged due to low numbers again, so children had special outdoor activities and learned from each other, too. We are lucky the weather is very nice these days.

23.01.2022 Ahoy, Mateys! This week our classes focused on our monthly charity which we held a fundraiser for. We had a fun Pirate Day complete with dress up, pirate songs, pirate colouring and drawing, made a pirate flag, walked the plank off our Jolly Roger and went on a treasure hunt. Thank you to all the families who have made a donation and helped us support the Childhood Cancer Charity, the total raised amount will be announced in our newsletter next week.



22.01.2022 This week the children learned about Easter and how various nations celebrate it around the world. We made Easter Bunny baskets and held our annual Easter Egg hunt, just on a smaller scale. Happy Easter weekend to all!

21.01.2022 This week Monet/Michelangelo kids worked on their sensorial activities with particular focus on shapes and colours. Mozart/Kindy Class learned about the weather, classifying clothes for hot/cold days and about the water cycle.

20.01.2022 This week Monet/Michelangelo children learned about oral hygiene, while Mozart/Kindy Class discussed various means of transportation vehicles.

20.01.2022 This week we are sponsoring the Jeans For Genes organisation, so our classes learned about clothing as a topic and about the purpose of this charity for children. https://www.jeansforgenes.org.au A big thank you to the families and staff who were able to make a donation and wear blue jeans today! We are extending the collection of donations until Monday for those families who were absent this week.

19.01.2022 This week we had a visit from an Aboriginal tutor from Ngutana-Lui Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Cultural Centre in Inala. Mr. Robert showed us how to play the didgeridoo, do dot painting, explained interesting things about native artifacts and took us on a "bush walk" to show us medicinal properties of plants surrounding our playground. It was a very educational and cultural visit!



19.01.2022 This week our Mozart/Kindy children learned about the insect kingdom, while Monet/Michelangelo Class focused on lower case L and animals starting with that sound.

18.01.2022 This week our classes focused on settling the new childen into their new environment and routines. Our returning children were happy to see their friends again and start making new ones.

18.01.2022 This week Mozart/Kindy Class learned about continents and their fauna. Monet/Michelangelo children continued scaffolding on their knowledge of shapes, colours, numbers, weather and calendar.

17.01.2022 This week our older children learned scientific facts about Australian animals, while the younger ones focused on their sensorial skills by learning shapes, colours, tracing frames as a base for writing skills and practical life activities. Classes also read many books as part of our language development program.

16.01.2022 This week Monet/Michelangelo children focused on colours, shapes, numbers and learned about transportation vehicles, while Mozart/Kindy Class explored scientific facts about birds as an animal classification with a focus on Australian birds and bird body parts.

16.01.2022 Because of next week's Harmony Day, this week our classes discussed the nationality backgrounds of our children. We learned about cultures and customs from their native countries and spoke about inclusion, unity and mutual respect of everyone, regardless of their background.

16.01.2022 This week Mozart/Kindy Class continued learning scientific facts about animals on different continents. Monet/Michelangelo children continued focusing on their individual development of sensorial, math and practical life skills.

14.01.2022 This week our Monet/Michelangelo children focused on developing their sensorial skills, especially their sense of smell. Mozart/Kindy Class learned about flower types and parts of a flower.

14.01.2022 This week children in both our rooms continued learning about animals, with the focus on general farm animals and how to tend to them. In July we were going to have the annual baby farm visit, but due to COVID-19 restrictions all such events are being put on hold until further notice.

13.01.2022 This week our classes learned about personal and community safety. Sgt. Paul from Taringa Precinct came for a visit and taught us about how to stay safe, brought police uniforms for children to try and even put lights and siren of his police car on. Fun!

12.01.2022 This week our classes learned about fire safety; which type of fire is useful and which dangerous. They practiced to "Stop, Drop and Roll" and discussed fire drills, as next week we're about to have a few in preparation of a visit from the local Fire Department. Our children are already looking forward to the fire engine!

12.01.2022 This week Mozart/Kindy Class learned about the bee life cycle, ants, ladybugs and grasshoppers. Monet/Michelangelo children are working hard to prepare for transitioning to Mozart Class by the end of this school year, they are focusing on basic letter and number recognition, as well as sensorial and fine motor skills development by practicing to cut.

12.01.2022 During the last 2 weeks our children focused on work with Montessori materials and enhancing their skills, especially the Kindy Class children. Many of those who were at home have slowly started returning and were happy to be reconnecting with their friends.

12.01.2022 This week our classes continued learning about fire safety and practiced lockdowns and evacuation fire drills. The highlight of the week was our annual visit from the Taringa Fire Department where fire officers spoke about their work and brought their fire engine to our driveway. All children had a turn to spray with the hose!

12.01.2022 This week Mozart/Kindy children learned scientific facts about animals in South America and Antarctica, while Monet/Michelangelo Class focused on their sensorial and practical life skills in preparation to transit to an older age group.

11.01.2022 This week our classes were split again as most children are back to our centre. Some really missed their friends and teachers and were very happy to be back! We spoke about family values and the children prepared cards for their mummies. Happy Mother's Day!

11.01.2022 This week our classes continued focusing on settling new children in their new environment and reviewing Montessori materials. The returning children helped the new ones explore their rooms and playground. It's always rewarding to see new children embrace the Montessori method and become "normalised"!

11.01.2022 This week our classes continued learning about Australia with a focus on nature and animals. We said good-bye to a few friends who went to school, welcomed new families and had our first music class of 2020 with Bopping Babies. Fun!

11.01.2022 This week the Monet/Michelangelo children focused on language activities involving matching animals, did some bird watching and spent time learning about the iconic Kookaburra. Mozart/Kindy Class prepared for the NAIDOC week and our upcoming Christmas concert next week.

10.01.2022 This week our Mozart/Kindy Class learned about means of transport and the Kindy children visited The Montessori Farm in Willow Vale as part of their annual graduation trip. They went on a bush walk, interacted with farm animals and explored The Farm's playground complete with a zipline. Our Monet/Michelangelo children focused on sensorial skills, in particular moulding with playdough, tracing and working with the cylinder blocks to enhance their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skill development, which they will require to learn writing.

10.01.2022 This week our children learned how Christmas is celebrated around the world and made related art. The weather wasn't too hot, so the little ones had picnics outside. It was the last week for many of our graduates, so we celebrated a bitter-sweet good bye with their cupcakes, cookies, chocolates and other treats. Merry Christmas and a happy 2020 to all our children and their families!

10.01.2022 This week our classes learned about Halloween, when and where it originated from and how people around the world like to dress up on this day. Our children carved jack-o-lanterns, decorated their classrooms and went trick-or-treating within our premises. Have a spooky Halloween weekend!

08.01.2022 During the last two weeks our classes were combined due to holidays and many families away. By mixing age groups, our children had the opportunity to teach each other and do activities from each other's room. Our program was relaxed with a lot of free time, we even had a few visits from possums and a blue tongue skink which all children were interested in observing. We hope that everyone had a nice break. Happy New Year, let's start it with a bang!

06.01.2022 This week, the Monet/Michelangelo children enjoyed language materials based around matching animals. The children also focused on sensorial materials, including the colour boxes, knobbed and knobless cylinders. Mozart/Kindy Class continued learning about about extreme weather: storm, tornado, cyclone and blizzard, about states of water, counting drain drops and how rainbows form. They also conducted various scientific experiments to recreate weather.

05.01.2022 Last week Mozart/Kindy Class learned the concept of sequence of events through stories. This concept helps to gather thoughts and narration skills during story-telling. Monet/Michelangelo children continued learning about shapes, colours and numbers, as well as practical life skills.

04.01.2022 This week our classes continued learning about Earth Day and did various activities related to this topic. As most children have started returning to our centre the classes will be split from next week onward, allowing focus on individual topics and activities. Happy Labour Day weekend!

04.01.2022 This week our classes learnered about the Aboriginal cultures and Australia. The children had fun dot painting flags and learning about native animals.

03.01.2022 This week our classes learned about Harmony Day by representing our own cultures. Thank you to those families who came to present their culture to us and/or sent attire and items for their children to showcase. Happy Harmony Day!

02.01.2022 This week our children learned about pets and animal grouping/sorting, Kindy Class worked hard on their math, language and science skills, and the little ones practiced their social and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, table manners, sensorial and practical life development.

02.01.2022 Last week Monet/Michelangelo Class learned about Maria Montessori as a tribute to her anniversary week and focused on traditional Montessori materials. Mozart/Kindy children learned about dinosaurs and more about Maria's life-long dedication to children's development. This week all classes focused on Father's Day. We can't have our annual Father's Day afternoon tea event due to the pandemic restrictions this year, but we would still like to wish a great family weekend to all centre fathers, thank you for all you do for your children!

02.01.2022 This week our classes learned about occupations and focused on fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, general sensorial development and practical life skills. We also had a special Super Steph Magic Show!

01.01.2022 This week our Mozart/Kindy Class learned about sun safety, while Monet/Michelangelo children reviewed animal classification and focused on sensorial development.

More children returned and friends were happy to see each other again!
