24.01.2022 Dear Families, We want to acknowledge the significant role of Fathers and Grandfathers that play a role in their families and celebrate Father's day this coming Friday at our service. Due to Covid Pandemic we are not able to invite you to celebrate at the centre but Fathers can pick up morning tea packs on Friday when you drop off or pick up your children. 14.01.2022 How to communicate to your children about the Corona virus Every time we turn on the news we hear about another case of the Corona virus both aboard and at home. So how do we communicate to our children information about the virus in a way that does... not cause them anxiety? As Montessori teachers at Montessori Early Learning Centre, we would like to share our thoughts on this important topic. As always we learn on Montessori principles at times like these and remember that our children will learn more by how we conduct ourselves that what we say. In short, if we panic they will panic. How and what we communicate to children depends on their age. CHILDREN AGES BIRTH TO SIX The first plane of Development The first plane is the period of the absorbent mind, as Dr. Montessori said, and simply put, children absorb everything in the environment unconsciously. It is the adults job to prepare the environment for the child in this plane of development. Specifically, it is the adults job to prepare the environment with all the extra opportunities that is recommended by NSW health with hand washing and hygiene practices. Children at 1.5 years to 2 years of age LOVE TO WASH THEIR HANDS! They are at an age when they can receive short lessons on how to wash their hands, and they learn best by having an adult show them, not lecture them. One of the earliest lessons we give children at Montessori Early Learning Centre is hand washing. We analyse the steps, then show the children how to wash their own hands, which includes wetting the hands, soaping, scrubbing to song like wash your dirty hands for two minutes then rinsing and drying. The whole transitioning process takes about four minutes. At home be sure to have a little stool in front of the sink and plenty of soap and paper towels that your child can reach as well as a wastepaper basket nearby. This is the age of HELP ME TO HELP MYSELF,. Dont miss the sensitive period for hand washing. See more

11.01.2022 Dear Parents We are all aware of the current situation with COVID-19 - Corona Virus and parent concerns regarding the safety of their children in childcare. We understand that most peoples first reaction is I need to withdraw my child. Please know that there are options available to you (as sent via email last week) and we are doing all we can to keep everyone in our Centre safe by implementing a range of measures and strategies as listed below:... * Hand sanitizing station at the front door * Hand sanitizing station inside the foyer * Foot prints sign in the foyer for social distancing * Regular cleaning and disinfecting of common surfaces (every 30 minutes) , bathrooms and nappy change area * Enhanced personal hygiene for children, staff and parents * Exclusion of unwell staff, children and visitors (service tours/ enrollment visits have been suspended until further notice) * Children are using our outdoor spaces, in shaded areas playing whilst keeping safe distances between themselves * Children are spread out throughout the rooms during meal times. We are also able to stagger meal times so that the children have plenty of space between them and others * We have reduced the number of items/equipment out (at any one time). This helps reduce cross-infection and contamination. This also gives us sufficient time to disinfect the used equipment each time. * All staff are completing Infection Control Training with the Department of Health See more
