When your local MLA knocks on your door, tell them you want Saltwater Montessori school up and running!! -We have a submission in with the department of education -We are a registered association with board members of diverse skills -Darwin families are looking for this new layer of offering and more diverse options of education!

Meetings are held on a Wednesday evening every second month. We are seeking someone who will be able to commit to completing task whether it be proof reading, editing, even creating newsletters, start forming some ideas for fund raising events, doing ground work in our search for a location. We have the plan and forecast for what needs to be done and we need some people power to make it happen a bit quicker! Other useful skills would include being a general 'people' person, knowing 'who's who' in Darwin with some connections which could help us along the way, experience with policy and legislation, experience in setting up a school!

Maria Montessori called this the prepared environment and it is about the adult producing a space where children can interact freely within set boundaries and learn to guide their own education. The idea of the prepared environment is that everything the child comes in contact with facilitates independent learning and exploration. It is intended to be calm and organised yet allows for lots of movement and activity. Children are free to choose and work on activities at their own pace.

13.01.2022 It's wonderful to have over 500 likes and followers on this page! We feel so encouraged that the people of Darwin want to see an authentic Montessori primary school established here. I receive messages and enquiries regularly and I know people are waiting for it all to happen!

13.01.2022 We had a board meeting this evening with some great conversation about the progress we are making. It's wonderful to be working with such a committed group of people who are so driven to see Saltwater Montessori School become successful. We want this for our own children and there's nothing more motivating than that in my book!

07.01.2022 A recap of where we are at with Montessori education in Darwin. We are a group of hard working and committed individuals who ourselves are parents of school aged children. Our group comprises of teachers, long term Darwin residents, small business owners, entrepreneurs and creative people! We are a registered association and our board meets every 2 months (we just held a meeting this evening via phone conference).... We will soon have a website with a wait list form! (Exciting!!!) The school location is not yet confirmed and we are exploring all viable options. We have support and mentorship from multiple successful Montessori schools interstate.
