24.01.2022 Dr Jane Goodall visited Adelaide and during an evening of captivating story-telling she spoke of the importance of connecting children with nature so that they can understand its majesty, and therefore care enough about it to be willing to help preserve it!

21.01.2022 Our online store is still on hiatus, but in these challenging times - when we all need to connect with each other to navigate through the uncertainty ahead - I feel it is valuable to reactive our Montessori Child Facebook community so that we can share thoughts, ideas and resources. The world feels topsy turvy right now, but we can count on the people we love to be with us through it. <3

19.01.2022 Did you know that it is the International Day of Forests today? It's a venture launched by the UN to help children understand why forests are important to the Earth's ecosystem and to help them learn how to keep them healthy. In honour of getting children emotionally connected to nature, and empowering them with the skills they need to contribute to a sustainable future, we're making an offer to help you afford some new Eco-Friendly and Practical Life resources!

18.01.2022 Today is International Women's Day, but I am lucky enough to spend every single day of the year surrounded by strong, inspiring women. I have incredible women in my professional life and my personal life, and I'm particularly blessed by the fact that so many of those wonderful women fit into both categories! Many members of my family share my Montessori passions, and my special colleagues have become like family to me. This means that everywhere I go, every day of my life, I have the support of women who empower me to be my best self. The chances I take, the experiences I embrace, the challenges I overcome and the achievements I celebrate are all possible because of those women. I feel so grateful that I get to enjoy this journey with all of you! Thank you! <3

11.01.2022 You know it's a good workshop when afternoon tea arrives and you're disappointed because it means the day is almost over! Dr Cameron Camp - who pioneered the application of Montessori principles for aged care environments - is an engaging and entertaining advocate and I feel so inspired by being in his presence!

11.01.2022 Have you ever dreamed of a Montessori inspired adventure? Perhaps a pilgrimage to the first Casa dei Bambini, or a journey to sites that were significant in Dr Maria Montessori's life? The multitalented Roelie Hartwig, an organisational extraordinaire who has contributed to the global Montessori community in more ways than I could count, has launched an innovative venture offering Montessori Tours and Travel. It's a wonderful idea and will inspire so many incredible voyages! Take a look if you're looking for an excuse to explore the world while enriching your appreciation of Montessori. https://www.montessoritoursandtravel.com/

11.01.2022 Lest we forget. Whether it is with a minute of silence, a game of two up, or simply a day of rest, let us remember that today is an opportunity to reflect on our gratitude for those who serve and sacrifice to protect our safety, our freedoms and our future. When we help our children to develop empathy, inclusivity and respect then we honour the past by cultivating peace for that future.

10.01.2022 If you are a Montessori educator trying to balance the recommendations for 'social distancing' with the realities of your classroom, here are a few tips for how subtle changes can make significant impacts without alarming the children.

10.01.2022 Our little glitch is fixed and the store is running smoothly ready for your orders! Thanks for your patience! :)

09.01.2022 This is brilliant...though I'd possibly change 'child' to 'person', and 'children' to 'people'! We all have emotional cups, and we all deserve to keep them as full as possible no matter how grown up we get! Thank you to the people in my life who keep my emotional cup as full as can be so that I can, in turn, help little people fill theirs!

07.01.2022 Hoping that you all enjoyed a beautiful Mother's Day with the women who fill your lives with happiness. My own amazing mum has taught me more than I could ever record, but today I'm feeling particularly grateful that she has always encouraged me to look for the joy in life's small details. She has never demanded perfection, she has never been discouraged by difficulty. Every single day, even on the hard ones (perhaps especially on the hard ones!), she goes searching for goodness and giggles. There is no challenge too tough to endure when somebody has raised you to believe - with absolute certainty - that there is always beauty to cherish if you choose to look for it! Thanks to mum's influence, there could be no storm so consuming that I wouldn't instinctively search for the sunlight. Thank you mum! <3

04.01.2022 It was an immense privilege to spend Friday in the company of Dr Cameron Camp, the man who pioneered the applications of Montessori principles to support those with Dementia. His innovation has inspired many people around the world to adopt this approach, and to share their knowledge. It is incredible to think this his insights acted as the seed that propagated into a global movement in aged care. I feel so fortunate to have heard his message directly. I first came across ...Dr Camp's work after my own Nanna was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Seeing my kind, cheeky, clever Nanna struggling to retain her presence, her memories and her abilities was heartbreaking, but I found myself naturally leaning into my Montessori tendencies to try to engage and empower her. When I discovered that this concept was being researched and applied on a broader level (not just when Nanna and I folded tea towels side by side at our kitchen table!) it filled my heart with hope and joy. How many Nannas, Grandads, Nonnas, Nonnos, Yiayias, Papous, Zumus, Zufus are out there - mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends - all around the world who are benefiting from the restoration of dignity and hope offered by Dr Camp's insights and the practices that they have inspired. And as Dr Camp said himself, there is no 'us and them'. When we talk about elders they are not separate. They are us tomorrow. So we have to build environments and practices that are not only acceptable in terms of how we want 'them' to be treated, but how we ourselves would expect to be cared for. I know that I'd like to live with autonomy, independence, dignity, individualism, growth, engagement, humour and happiness until the very last day of my life. I'm grateful that people like Dr Cameron Camp have the vision to help make that a realistic expectation!

02.01.2022 As we grow through life we undergo one metamorphosis after another, becoming something slightly new each time as we use what we learn to build on who we were. With children we can see these changes happening rapidly, right before our eyes, but they extend throughout adulthood too. We can always grow, we always have room to become more than we are, and that is one of the absolute joys of life.
