25.01.2022 Seasons Greetings from the Montrose Toowoomba Team It has been a pleasure working with all of those customers who returned in 2019, as well as all of all our new customers that we have worked with this year. We consider it an absolute pleasure to be a part of your therapeutic journey and working alongside of you whilst you work towards working towards achieving your identified goals. We look forward to working alongside you again in 2020, and hope that you have a restful holi...day period. The Toowoomba office will be closed between Monday 23 December 2019 and Friday 03 January 2020 (inclusive). We will all be back at work on Monday 06 January 2020. We have some very exciting news for 2020, as we welcome our new full-time Physiotherapist, Sarah Wilesmith to the Toowoomba team from late January. We wish you a very fun and safe holiday period. 21.01.2022 Today we would like to introduce you to Kate. Kate is the Team Assistant in Toowoomba, and provides administrative support to all the therapists and to the Manager. Kate is generally the first point of contact when you call or drop into the office, and is always happy to answer your questions and provide you with the support you require.



21.01.2022 Occupational Therapy Week starts today! To celebrate the wonderful work done by Occupational Therapists and their clients too, we have a fantastic colouring competition with an OT theme. At Montrose our Occupational Therapists work with children and young adults of all skill levels to help them be successful in activities that are meaningful to them at home, school or in the community. This may include working together with the family’s towards developing independence in sel...f-care tasks (dressing, showering), learning, social and play skills, emotional regulation and leisure and community access. 21.01.2022 We would like to introduce you to the new Toowoomba Service Centre Manager, Alex Young. Alex will be joining the Toowoomba team from 30 November 2020, and will be taking over from the current manager, Mark Ffinch, who has accepted a promotion at another Brisbane location. Alex has a clinical background as a speech pathologist, before stepping into management over a year ago. Alex enjoys seeing clients achieve their goals, through the support of holistic therapy services; and is looking forward to being part of the Montrose team. We would like to thank Mark for his two and a half years as the Toowoomba Service Centre Manager and wish him well as he moves into his new role. Mark has enjoyed working with all the amazing clients in Toowoomba, as well as building a very effective team of therapists.

19.01.2022 Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) empowers individuals with communication difficulties to express their wants, needs, thoughts and ideas. At Montrose, many of our clients use a range of AAC such as PECS, PODD and speech generating devices to name a few! The theme of this year’s International AAC Awareness Month, October 2020, is Bridging the Silence through Solidarity.... #AACaware20

Mark started with Montrose in July 2018, and has over 20 years experience in the Human Services sector.



16.01.2022 The Annual BOQ Charity Golf Day that was held on Friday 24 May 2019 was an amazing success, with a great time had by all. 15.01.2022 This week is occupational therapy week across Australia. At Montrose, we have a team of occupational therapist who are dedicated to working with our customers and their families to increase their quality of life. Occupational therapy is designed to assist children and adults to reach their full potential in all aspects of their day to day living. This may include increasing their independence in self-care activities (dressing, personal hygiene), social and leisure participation, learning, emotional regulation and accessing the community.

You can turn on the Accessible Places feature in Google Maps making it easier to find and contribute accessibility information to Google Maps. This includes wheelchair accessible entrances, seating, toilets and parking. Anyone can switch on Accessible Places and contribute accessibility information to help the whole community. ... 13.01.2022 Montrose does Australia! We have put up a mural showcasing Australian plants and animals. To launch the wall, the Toowoomba team dressed up all things Australian. Here we have (left to right, top to bottom) the Sydney Opera House, Cattle Dog Trainer, Kangaroo, Crocodile Hunter and Koala. Come and see the wall, and watch it grow with more animals over the coming weeks.

11.01.2022 The Montrose Toowoomba team have come up with three great Easter School Holiday Programs! For our littlest clients, Tots Rhyme Time will be led by a Speech Pathologist and target emerging language skills of any level. Our 4-6 year old Bookworms will build their confidence and practise key skills while having plenty of fun along the way!... Escape Room has groups for ages 7-12 and 12-15s. 11.01.2022 On Wednesday 20 November, Katrina Mackenzie (Speech Pathologist) and Mark Ffinch (Service Centre Manager) had the pleasure of attending the Toowoomba West Special School Community Expo. It was great to meet with members of the Toowoomba community as well as other service providers.

11.01.2022 Meet our newest team member! Our therapy robot has been enlisted to help with therapy sessions at Montrose and we need your help to give it a name! Following a recent trial, we have now purchased a robot for ongoing therapy use. Research has shown that robots can have a wide range of benefits in therapy sessions for children across all age groups. Here at Montrose, we will initially be using our robot to assist in teaching turn taking and to work on social interactions. Our r...obot was developed by Aldebaran Robotics, a French robotics company and is known as NAO (pronounced Now). However, we think it is important to give NAO a more friendly name! Were asking Montrose customers to enter our colouring and naming competition to help us decide on a name. 10.01.2022 Update on urgent repairs to Assistive Technology: The NDIA can now provide immediate authorisation when a participants plan doesnt have funds for urgent Assistive Technology (AT) repairs. An urgent repair includes:... AT damaged in a natural disaster, such as the recent bushfires repairs to equipment the participant is dependent on for safety, mobility, communication or daily living activities. 08.01.2022 On Monday 18 November, Peter, our Lego donor for our Lego Mini Masters Group attended the Toowoomba office to see the difference his donation is making in the lives of young people in the Toowoomba area. Thank you again Peter for your generosity in donating all the Lego for this program.

And today is Childrens Day! This years theme is based on Article 24, the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child, Children have the right to good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that they will stay healthy.... 06.01.2022 The Toowoomba team decided to have a Hawaiian Shirt Day on Friday 04 September in order to clear away the cobwebs of a cold winter, and to remind us of the sun. As you can see we all had a lot of fun. We are going to have regular theme days, and we encourage our clients and their families to dress up and join in the fun. We intend on extending the theme into a couple of the scheduled therapy sessions as well. Feel free to provide us with your recommendations of a theme day we can all enjoy
