15.01.2022 MEDICAL FIRST For the first time in Australia, patients requiring cataract surgery can undergo a capsulotomy at our Hospital using the revolutionary CAPSULaser technology. What is a capsulotomy?... A standard part of cataract eye surgery is a capsulotomy, where ophthalmologists make an incision into the crystalline lens of the eye. Why CAPSULaser? In less than 1 second, CAPSULaser creates a perfectly centred, circular capsulotomy that is delivered continuously, as opposed to a pulsed beam, which can create tissue bridges. This makes it 1.5 times stronger. The outcome? CAPSULaser creates a smooth, stronger, more consistently even incision one that’s more predictable, tear-resistant and perfectly matched to each patients’ intraocular lens (IOL). This is one of the many medical advancements our hospital is committed to investing in to achieve exceptional patient outcomes. Chat to your optometrist for a #westsideprivate referral.

12.01.2022 Skin Cancer Awareness Month Fun in the sun. Beach getaways and time outdoors, are our livelihood in Australia but while we’re enjoying our best days, our skin is being exposed to the harshest UV light in the world. Which sadly gives us one of the top rankings in the World for Skin Cancer. The good news though skin cancer from UV exposure is preventable. Early detection, widespread awareness, and sun safety are everything.... With Skin Cancer Awareness Month upon us, here’s a timely reminder on how to protect that much-loved skin of yours: Wear 50+ sunscreen daily Protective clothing is as beneficial as it is fashionable - hats, sunglasses, rashies, and more Never ignore a new, changing, or unusual skin spot 10am-3pm is the time to be most vigilant! Good sun-safe habits become a way of life when practiced regularly. And of course, see your GP or dermatologist if you have immediate concerns. This is the time to put yourself first. #skinaware #skincancerawarenessmonth

08.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas

08.01.2022 It's time for Ovary-Action! This month is Ovarian Cancer awareness month. Did you know? A cervical screening test (formerly known as a pap smear) does NOT detect ovarian cancer. There is NO effective screening test or preventative vaccine for #ovariancancer. The best way of detecting the disease is to know the signs and symptoms and be aware of any changes in your body. More information at https://www.ovariancancer.net.au/page/65/know-ovarian-cancer

03.01.2022 Did you know?! Lymphoma is Australia's 6th most common cancer. But what is lymphoma? Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a sy...stem of lymph nodes, vessels and organs that runs throughout the body - part of our body's healthy immune system. In lymphoma, a tumour develops due to uncontrolled growth of abnormal lymphocytes (white blood cells). Because the lymphatic system exists throughout the body and involves many organs, there may be cancerous tumours in many parts of the body when someone has lymphoma. There are two main categories of lymphoma: Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL). Of all diagnosed lymphoma cases, 90% of them are Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and 10% Hodgkin Lymphoma. Each behaves differently and requires different types of treatment. Go #lime4lymphoma this September and together let's put lymphoma in the limelight. https://bit.ly/Lime4Lymphoma
