07.01.2022 Cold cast bronze is one of the mediums used by Brisbane artist Denise Murray. Her newest piece in the gallery is Sunbather. What is cold cast bronze? Cold Cast Bronze is another way to cast a bronze which doesnt involve a foundry. The pieces are first modelled in wax or clay. A plaster mould is taken from the finished sculpture. From this plaster mould a master is cast in resin. After the master is sanded and smoothed a silicon rubber mould is made. Instead of the... traditional bronze, cold cast bronze is in the form of a fine powder. This is mixed with resin and painted into the silicon mould and allowed to catalyse. The mould is then sealed and filled with resin. A sheet of lead is added to the final pour to add weight to the work. When the piece comes out of the mould it is sanded, the seams are filled with additional bronze resin and it is polished to bring the bronze to the surface. 07.01.2022 We welcome back David Hinchliffe to Montville for a two day workshop on the weekend of 3 and 4 October. You will visit a painting location in the morning, David will explain how to best select and photograph a painting subject and then return for morning tea and painting at the historic St Marys Church Hall on Montville Village Green. You can then spend the day painting either from your edited photos or outside on The Green, guided by David. Morning and afternoon tea is ...provided, lunch is BYO or from one of our nearby cafes in Montville. We are offering two options for this workshop: Option 1 BYO materials, with guidance and tuition and the use of an easel provided, $380 per person per day Option 2 A materials package which includes 6 paints, a brush set, a palette, 2 canvases, and a spray bottle is included for you to keep and we will supply the use of an easel for the workshop. $450 per person for the first day, $380 for the second day. You will need a phone with the ability to take a photo, if transferring your photo to an ipad/tablet please bring cords or adaptors. Cameras are suitable if you are able to transfer your photo to a tablet for viewing and editing.
