22.01.2022 Let's do this! Hi everyone, Greenhills Montmorency Baseball Club is looking for junior players to join our junior program for 2021. Our T-Ball and Rookie Ball pre-season programs start Friday 12th March, running 6pm to 7:15pm Friday at Malcolm Blair Reserve, Karingal Drive, Greensborough. T-Ball is aimed at 5-9 year-olds and provides a great environment for fun, building confidence and learning new skills. Rookie Ball is for 9-11 year-olds and aims to develop skills and confi...dence in a game-play environment. The T-Ball program runs until May, so now is the time to get involved! Come and try with the first session obligation-free. Kids get a glove, ball, shirt and hat once registered. Under- 13s and 15s start pre-season on Saturday 13th March 9am-11am, with competition for Rookie Ball, U-13 and U-15 starting late April. 12.01.2022 Season 2020 Update Hello all and welcome to take 2 of season 2020! Recent easing of Covid-19 restrictions mean we are now able to finally begin our preseason training. Whilst there is no confirmation as yet regarding a season start date or duration, we can at least start getting out of the house and putting in some work! This has been and will most likely continue to be a very unusual start to the season, and one that will require and little bit of patience and understanding ...from us all. For the time being training will be restricted to 10 players and 2 coaches per group with a maximum of 2 groups at any one time(one in the infield and one in the outfield). Trainings will run in accordance with the current social distancing and sanitation guidelines. Disappointingly, we do not as yet have access to the batting cage. The next wave of changes is due on the 1st of June so with any luck, things can start feeling a little bit more normal really soon. >> > NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART < < < WE NEED TO KNOW ASAP IF YOU ARE PLAYING!! We need to provide BV, MWBL and local council with information about absolutely everything at the moment, including player numbers as well as training attendees. Before any of us (players and officials) can take the field for training we need to register with sportsTG (go to the BV website and click the return to activity link) I know a lot of you cant wait to get back out and play, similarly I know there will be many that are quite enjoying the time off, as well as those who have health concerns surrounding Covid-19. There are no right or wrong answers. I will however urge those who are 50/50 on playing, to jump over to the playing side. I truly believe we have a very special community at Monty, one that we can all be very proud of. We can lean oneach other to navigate the uncertain times ahead, we can talk to each other, listen to each other,support each other and go out there and just have fun. Oh there is the matter of BACK TO BACK flags to take care of too. Please indicate below which session you would like to be in for training THIS SATURDAY 30THMAY, we will stretch/throw and take some easy bp on the field.Sessions will run for 45 minutes plus 15 mins at the end for disinfecting equipment in accordance with govt guidelines. 12.01.2022 A message from the Coach A big happy new year to the Monty faithful and welcome to Season 2020! The opportunity to defend an A-grade title brings with it a whole new list of challenges and I cannot wait to get stuck into it. We become the hunted, were required to hold ourselves to a higher standard, we need to represent the jersey of the now 7 time A-Grade champion GMBC. For some baseball clubs, this is too great of a burden. For us, well, we are only just getting started.... I'm delighted to announce that Andrew Kent is returning to coach the 2s and Lester will be back as the Club Assistant Coach. A massive addition to the coaching group this year is the duo of Sam Hamilton and Grant Mack who have agreed to manage the 3s. Both club legends, Sam and Grant bring a tonne of experience to the position and I cant wait to work with them both. Benno is back on as the manager of the 4s and will continue his great work from last season. We have some familiar old faces lacing them back up again in 2020, and a BIG CHOC coming back in from the west so the stage is set for a huge year! Undoubtedly the biggest challenge we face is the participation numbers across the board. We were so incredibly well represented in the 3s and 4s last year by players backing up two games, umpiring, preparing and packing up the field each week. In my opinion the true stars of the club. We all need to be on the lookout for new club members to ease the burden and to make baseball as enjoyable as possible across all 4 teams. We have a community at Monty that we can be really proud of and its definitely worth sharing. So reach out to old team mates, mates from school, work, cricket and anywhere in between.
