23.01.2022 Good news for small businesses needing to raise funds - the Australian government recently passed new laws to allow crowd sourced funding for Pty Ltd companies. The laws came into effect this week. Companies wishing to use the new crowd funding regime will be required to meet a few new rules including: - having at least 2 directors - annual financial and directors reports in accordance with accounting standards - auditing of financial reports once $3 million or more is rais...ed - complying with the related party transaction rules that apply to public companies. In the Federal Budget last night the government said it would also be consulting on reforms to the Australian Business Number system, including the development of a rigorous indentifica...tion system for company directors as part of new anti-phoenixing measures. "We are making sure that small businesses don't get ripped off by other businesses who deliberately go bust to avoid paying their bills with tough new anti-phoenixing measures," Mr Morrison said in his speech. Also cash businesses should be on notice - data analytics will be increased and a taskforce to implement measures to ensure the cash economy is paying its tax.
