23.01.2022 Finally got this delivered this week which means we finally get to test our hay and straw which will be used in our confinement feeding programme this year. Know what you grow! #maternalmerinos #confinementfeeding #lovewhatwedo

23.01.2022 Our scanned dry ewe lambs have a job in front of them managing a paddock of mixed species fodder that is designated for ewes and lambs post marking. They will be classed up in coming weeks with a good line being off loaded. Grass makes things easier #maternalmerinos #grassmanagement

23.01.2022 The ram lambs came in this week for a post weaning weight and a Vitamin E drench. We drench them to ensure every animal gets adequate dosage. It is vitally important where a lack of quality pasture fails to provide normal Vitamin E intake. Amongst these boys are our best genetics, so some of them are going on out to our ewes!

22.01.2022 How lucky are we to have an office like this one. Seeding into moisture in April is a bonus we don’t want to miss out on. And How about that sunset #plant21 #cropgraze #lambingplanner #maternalmerinos

22.01.2022 Ram shearing underway. This fella is a particular favourite of ours. 20-0016 ticking a few of the boxes we like to tick. Looking forward to his lambs hitting the ground in a couple of months #maternalmerino #ramshearing #fleeceweigh

21.01.2022 Confinement feedlot is coming along steadily. Better late than never.

20.01.2022 How good is the sound of 800 rams walking through grass. Good for the soul that is #longtimecoming #maternalmerino

20.01.2022 Delivering the back up ram to our AI recipients. He'll have these 80 to sweep over (fingers crossed he hasn't got much work to do this week!) and then we'll introduce a further 60 odd over the next four weeks.

20.01.2022 And we are away again. Seeding pastures started this week ahead what is hoped a good early start to the season. This year we are planting a mix of Moby barley, vetch, ryegrass and canola. Hope everyone gets a decent start over the next few days #sheepfeed #lambingprep21

16.01.2022 Ewe lamb joining underway! All weighed up, split up and vaccinated with teasers being removed and ram lambs introduced. 86% of the 2020 drop made weight this year with the average joining weight being 48kg and CS 3.15. #maternalmerino #jointhemyoung #ewelambs #ramlambs #moojepin

09.01.2022 Harvesting some scimitar medic seed last week. Got it in just before the rain on the weekend. This is awesome stuff for low lying areas can even tolerate mild saline soils which is the key reason behind us growing it

08.01.2022 All the ewes were content and happily tucked in last night. Nearing the end of their confinement stay. Over the next week they will have their pre lamb vaccinations, be weighed and split up into lambing groups #maternalmerinos

06.01.2022 What a view to finish off the muscle scanning for the year. We had 1,800 of our 2020 drop lambs through the scanner over the last few days. Time for a beer, I think! #maternalmerinos

04.01.2022 Our one and a half year old ewes receiving their Campyvax before meeting the ram. The girls are looking well going into joining.

04.01.2022 You may have to zoom in, but here's our scanning data for 2021. All single sire joined for 31 days, no tease. Two rams might need the "birds and the bees" talk, but that’s the risk we take with single sire joining. #maternalmerinos

03.01.2022 The ewes in confinement have it all worked out now. Our new SRF Tucker box is the perfect tool for the job and has shaved hours off our normal feeding time per day #maternalmerinos #confinement #letthegrassgrow Southern Rural Fabrication
